Santa Maria Suites Resort, Key West

Hey I stayed at the Old S.M. and it was cheap. Yeah a little run down but cheap. The new spread is top notch. I haven't stayed there yet, but I will on a future trip. I'm just tired of limited number of bargain places to stay in KW anymore. I mean I travel a couple times a year there, usually for a 6 or 7 day stretch and paying out 200 or 300 a night is out of the question. I don't know how other people are paying for this first class travel. I guess their credit cards have larger balances than mine. But the new Santa Maria is looking top notch.

I had the delightful pleasure to stay at the Santa Maria Suites in January of 2012 and I have to say that words can not describe my stay there. After being dropped off by my taxi, I walked into the cute lobby on the side of Ambrosia, the Japanese restaurant built into the resort, and I was greeted by a smiling face and some helpful advise. My room was not ready, for I arrived a little early, but my luggage was taken from me and was invited to sit by the pool area to wait for my room. Walking out into the pool area, you get to take in the lush tropical plants and the magically laid out pool area. With a small bar area, with complementary fruit smoothies, wine for a happy hour and towels, overlooking two pools, the view was amazing. The hotel that surrounds the pool area is like a small, upscale village. Extremely warm and inviting! After sitting and soaking up the Key West sun, I was informed that my room was ready. I was delighted to find that my bags had been moved to my room for me. How they got in there, right under my nose, I have no clue. On to the suite, what an amazing place. I wish my living room and kitchen was this nice. A nice flat screen tv with two chairs and a dvd player grace the front left side of the living room and a nice sofa with a coffee table across the room are both tastefully decorated to make the Key West lifestyle. The kitchen area is fully stocked with glasses and plates and has a full stove and dish washer. The refrigerator is built into the counter and came with bottles of water and some wonderful Dove Ice Cream bars. Those are so nice on a warm Key West day. Also, there is a wine refrigerator, which came in handy for some bottles of wine I happen to bring back to the room. Everything was clean and ready to go if I wanted to cook. The bedroom was great! Artfully done, if a lovely TV and the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on in a hotel. I slept like a dream after a hard day of enjoying the pool area or walking along the picaresque streets of Key West. An added bonus is the nightly turn down service. Roll into your room and your bed is ready for you and a little sweet Dove chocolates await you on your pillow! How sweet! The bathroom is great, with dual shower heads and the great glass shower doors that are spotless each evening. Dual sinks in an ultra modern feel. I want this bathroom in my house. Every night when entering through the lobby, Wolfgang welcomed us "home". The staff gets to know you and makes you feel like you are home. Our concierge, Derek, worked his rear off finding out things for us to see and do. If he did not have an answer for something, he was on the phone, finding it for us. He even called a local seafood market to see if they had conk salad. Because of the pool and the service of our concierge, we spent the whole day by the pool, relaxing and soaking in the sun! I have never done that at a hotel, but everything was so warm and inviting! It is one block from the beach, so no need to drag your rental car out of the lot and has some fine dining around the block at Louis' Backyard. Santa Maria Suites is a nice place to get away from it all. It is tucked away at the southern part of the island, less touristy, more resort! I would stay here again, in a heartbeat!

This was the perfect place for a honeymoon in Key West! Suite 4 was beautiful. The decor had the sleek feel of Miami Beach and the place is so clean you could eat off of the floor. The perks were limitless. Skip to the next paragraph if you'd rather be surprised! Complimentary smoothies and happy hour by the pool poured by Derek (if your lucky), the most fabulous concierge I've ever encountered. Ice cream bars magically apprear in the freezer and turn down service leaves not only chocolates but muffins for your breakfast the next morning. The entire staff goes out of their way to make sure that your stay is the best it can be and the place is gorgeous. I recommend taking a day to hang by the pool to enjoy sushi from Ambrosia, the on-site sushi restaurant and let Derek pamper you! :) I wish all hotels were like this one.

Exactly like the photos show,the cleanliness and staff were brilliant. At the southernmost end of Key West but we enjoyed the walk down Duval St nearly everyday.With free muffins, smoothies, dove ice cream bars, and the daily cheese crackers and wine by the pool you need a walk to burn off the calories!!! We were in Key West for our son's wedding and the Santa Maria added to a very memorable experience. We will definitely go back one day. 5 stars from all of us!!!!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful times 1 billion! The pool and the area is a fantasy and the rooms are too. The room could suit royalty and the staff were unbeatably kind and they really knew how to do their jobs. Except for a minor mishap at check-in, everything was run very smoothy and extremely professionaly. Surrounded by many beaches (nothing to be excited about) and just delectable restaurants, it is at a prime location. This is an unbeatable choice for a stay in the Keys, or even the Caribbean.

The hotel was perfect in every way. Great location, only one block from Duval Street, though it was very quiet so you would never know it. The rooms were gorgeous with large, flat screen TVs in every room of the suite. Very modern and comfortable. Every amenity you could want they provided. They even left little Dove ice cream bars and breakfast muffins in the room daily, and offered free drinks by the pool. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This is one of my favorite hotels in the U.S. The suites are gorgeous and complete with a full kitchen and designer bathrooms! The pool is fantastic and the complimentary frozen drinks served by the pool make it even better. Service is excellent and the hotel provides nice treats during your stay, including ice cream bars and delicious muffins. The hotel is located just about at the end of Duvall Street but there are some good bars and restaurants on the same end and it is a short walk to the other more lively end of Duvall street which we walked and enjoyed a couple times each day. Can't wait to go back!

there was nothing not to like. the rooms were spacious, new and very clean. the pool was quaint, the location was perfect. the pomp and circumstance of key west took place more than 8 blocks away which was perfect for me and my family

they lost my reservation when we got there after we drove for eight hours and paid $500.00 for one night we had no cable or no internet service even though the web page said we would have it.The pics they show you on the web shows that they are beach side but they are not you can't even see the beach from this hotel not good !!!

There is nothing bad to say about Santa Maria. The staff was unbelievable. Whenever we needed anything, or inquired about something, they were knowledgeable and willing to reccomend resteraunts, places of interest etc. Whenever we would ask about a place, they were respectful and honest about that place, not insulting the place or us. The General Manger, Dan and Ken were outstanding, and more than willing to accomadate us and make calls as well as reservations etc for us. We were in a party of 4 and each of us absolutely loved Santa Maria and the entire staff. The accomadations were pleasantly clean and the cleaning staff extremely polite as to not invade in our privacy, when entering the premises to clean. The outside as well was very well kept and vey clean. All in all our stay was very pleasant and the staff very friendly and accomadating. ********** 10 stars.. Pricing was also pleasing..
