Always a Great Experience!
By Layla Wood, 12/05/07
This is one of my favorite hotels in Miami!!! I surprised my fiance with a trip here in June before he left for Med School in St Lucia. The rooms are amazing and the view is breath taking; they are mini apartments. The staff is super friendly. It is on a fantastic stretch of beach and is within walking distance of great restuarants and shops. LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Feces on my car!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/07
We checked into the Hotel on A Wednesday for 2 nights. We have been guests there many times but not toward the weekend. I askewd the GM for permissionm to self park in the handicapped spot on the parking platform she gave permission. I asked because I use a mobility scooter that takes time to remove from my car trunk and because the hOtel is busy we did not want to impede the valet! When we went to get the car it was decorated with ketchup, mustard, eggs and a bag of feces. The car is a BMW z4 that has less than 3,000 miles on it. Hotel security was RUDE managemnet was RUDE. Noone has done anything to have the car repaired. The top is damaged and will cost 3,000 to repair! By the way the gate from the pool area to the beach is unlocked and children and adults who are not owners or guests walk in through the gate and use all facilities. I guess that's why the spas are black and it seems all floors are a mess. The hallway carpets are all stained and the hotel is in genereal suffering from deferred maintenance. A real NO GO!

Very Relaxing..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
It was really nice and very relaxing. The price was pretty good and the hotel was very clean. The suite was quite large but it had a couple things that need to be fixed like the lock on the bathroom door and the closet in the bedroom. After reading previous comments I thought the employees would be rude but they were pretty helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the valet parking 20 dollars/night. Beach and pool area were great. Great place for any one of any age looking for a weekend getaway.

Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/07
We always enjoy our stay at the Doubletree. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly. They even remembered us when we returned for a subsequent trip a year later. We found the location to be close to major sights but far enough away to relax with family. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who likes value and hospitality combined.

Awful, just awful.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/22/07
The suite was for my teenage daughter, her friend and me for spring break. Upon check in, we noticed the stained carpet that another traveler had mentioned in their posting. The hall way smelled of urine & was located directly across from a construction site. When we entered the bedroom portion of the suite, we were dismayed to learn that we were not given the double beds as I had requested @ booking. We checked the sofa in the living room and determined that it was a sofa bed, so we agreed to make do. My daughter used the toilet and it stopped up to the point of almost over flowing. The frong desk informed us that maintenance would be on their way. My daughter and her friend went down to the ocean, while I waited the hour for maintenance to come. Maintenance plunged the toilet, threw one of our towels on the floor and left. When we left to go shopping, the valet was reprimanded by the head valet for speeding. We arrived back to our room about 10:00. The girls attempt to pull the hide a bed out. They tried to tug and pull, one at a time and then together. I tried. I called the front desk @ 10:30. We have fought the sofa for 30 minutes. I was informed by the front desk that it was too late. I reiterated that there were 3 of us staying in this room. I had made the number of guests apparent when I booked the room and I made the number of guests apparent at check in. The front desk attendant suggested that the 3 of us sleep in the bed together or she replied that she could have blankets and pillows brought up to us so I could sleep on the couch or the girls could sleep on the floor. I was angry enough that I jerked the hide a bed so hard, it popped out of the sofa. We got the bed made and the head of the bed sunk almost to the floor while the foot of the bed raised toward the ceiling. Not 5 minutes later, my daughter used the restroom. Again the toilet overflowed, spewing toilet tissue, water and diluted urine all over the floor. Again, I called the front desk. It was 10:40. I was told there was nothing she could do. I was incredulous. I explained that we had water and raw sewage all over the floor of our bathroom – and only one of us had used the restroom. I advised we had cleaned the mess up with the hotel towels, but we still had two more women that needed to go. She said the best she could do was have security come up and bring us a plunger. I was very angry. I waited until midnight and still did not get a plunger. The next morning, we were awoken at 6 am by the sound of starting construction. At 8 am, I called the manager and told him about the bed and the plugged toilet and the mess on our bathroom floor. He apologized and offered to waive my valet fee and assured me that he would have our toilet issue resolved and our bathroom would be cleaned up. We waited over an hour for maintenance to show up.He walked across our wet, dirty floor, plunged the stool dripping the filth from the toilet bowl all over the seat of the stool – without wiping it off - then walked back out on the dirty floor. No one came to clean our floor or give us new towels. There were 3 of us who need to shower and get ready. The floor is harboring filth & we only have hand towels left. At check out I went to the front desk to determine if at least my valet charges were removed and confirmed the same. The manager told me that she was sorry and would check with the honors to see about refunding me my points. I advised I was too upset to speak to her. The manager asked if she could call me, Tuesday, March 13th. I advised that would be fine. I have yet to receive a call from anyone at the Double Tree.

Great Hotel
By Lakita, 03/19/07
Initially my husband and I had only booked one night. But as soon as we entered the suite and took in the view, we immediately called the front desk and requested an additional night. The hotel is in a great location. Being right on the beach was wonderful, and having a full ocean view from the balcony was fantastic. The very spacious suite had all the amenities of home. It was very comfortable. The second day there we took advantage of the full kitchen and cooked dinner. The service was great. All the front desk staff was very friendly and so were the bellhop guys. If you're looking to party and drink then this is not the place, but if you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is definitely the place. Overall, great experience. My husband and I are currently planning our next stay.

Amazing hotel with a spectacular vie
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
Just returned from Doubletree Ocean Point and I could not be happier with the hotel. The hotel is new and directly on the beach. The suites are large and beautiful. Our suite had three balconies, and what a view. The beds are of the same quality as the ones found in five star hotels. The staff was so friendly, always smiled and said hello. I read the previous review and just chukled, due to the Super Bowl you are very lucky to even have a reservation, many peple would kill for one. So just pay up and stop complaining or else give it up and give someone else a chance. Some hotels require three months advance payments for special events and as this event was not known at the time of your reservation you should understand their requirement. I always book directley with the hotel as there is a better chance of a room upgrade than if you book with a discount travel agency. Usually there is no price difference at all. I was so impressed with this hotel, I am spending Christmas vacation there. Can't wait.

BUYER BEWARE! SHADY DEALINGS HERE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/06
While this hotel looks and sounds great, I'm having a TERRIBLE experience with the DoubleTree Ocean Point Resort & Spa. I booked 2 room reservations to stay at this hotel on their company website a year in advance of my planned stay. The rooms were confirmed and guaranteed. Then 7 months after I booked my rooms, the hotel GM sent me a letter demanding "a full, non-refundable prepayment for my rooms" or else she is going to cancel my reservations! This was not part of the original terms of my reservations. Of course I'm not going to pre-pay for these rooms and not get any money back if I have to cancel! Everyone knows that a hotel cannot change the rate or terms of your confirmation after the fact--it's a contract! While prepayment as a requirement is not that uncommon, it needs to be spelled out ahead of booking, not 7 months after! The hotel has to disclose the parameters of your reservations upfront, before you make the reservations. The GM at the DoubleTree Ocean Point is trying to do demand prepayment 7 months after the fact! This is very unethical and a very shady business practice. This "prepayment" demand letter was after receiving another letter from the GM that initially said that "due to unforeseen circumstances," she was not going to honor my reservations at her hotel all! I'd be very leery about staying at this hotel and I'd think twice about booking any type of business of personal stay here. I've tried several times to get answers from the hotel and get this resolved, but to no avail. Because my stay is planned over Super Bowl weekend, I'm virtually screwed at finding any new accommodations at all anywhere in the area. I don’t know what they’re trying to pull, but they're forcing me to become embroiled in a big battle over this. Beware!

BEWARE of this Double Tree
By BIGJIM, 09/06/06
First of all, the hotel itself from outside looks nice but you can clearly see the NEW construction going on next door. I reserved a ocean view room and was put in a side ocean and side construction building view. If I walk to the north side of the patio I could see the beach. So relaxing in the bed and looking out was not a favorite activity. They work on saturday's aswell. I also paid for the ROMANCE package, thought my wife and I could use a little more amenities offered by the hotel. There was no IN-ROOM arrival champagne, ONE ROBE in the closet, Housekeeping did not clean the room adequately on saturday (they left syrup on the main table and sugar was dried up all over), The HALLWAY in the floor was DIRTY (lots of dark spots) and SMELLED BAD! Literaly smelled like TRASH. We checked other floors and it was the same. I even left a piece of paper on friday near our doorway, it was still there on sunday when we left. The romance package allows you to ask for early check-in and late check-out to enjoy spa and beach treatment. My wife had a sunday 11am spa treatment and in planning the luggage pickup while she was in the spa the front desk denied the late checkout after having booked it over 3 weeks before hand. THE wanted me to take everything out by noon and have my wife change in the spa bathroom. That didn't happen, so he gave me till 1pm. I waited for the luggage concierge and he didnt come till 230pm! so we would have had plenty of time regardless! The room wasn't even needed that afternoon! they lied to me. The only good things about the hotel was the beach staff and spa staff. The beach area is nice. There are many small place to hang out outside the hotel. AVENTURA MALL is just down the street which is a great place to shop and find a good restuarant. HOTEL restaurant closes to early. (10pm) We never saw anybody eat there. We were there 3 days. The ROOM was nice, that's not gonna change. Nice KING size bed... good spacious living room, jacuzzi in bathroom, his and her sinks. Overall it was a nice room. But the service and attention to the detail of what you pay for was not up to par at all. It lacked customer care. The MONTE CARLO is just a couple hotels up the street. I'll stay there next time. The Two breakfast we had were good, nothing to brag about. BUt we were glad they got the sunday breakfast right. ROMANCE package includes breakfast in bed (both days). PARKING at the hotel is harsh. At times you may wait up to 20-30 for your car, they have a very small turnabout to bring cars in and out. They seemed understaffed at times. BEWARE OF THIS DOUBLETREE. I stayed Aug 4 - 6, 2006
