Don't judge by a blog ...
By ,
Saw all the reviews and was concerned that the issues were 1)true and 2) going to affect my stay. Said to myself, 'Really? A Sheraton? Well, ''treat 'e m like the Russians - trust but verify'. Called the front desk supervisor, Sonia and advised her all the nasty things people had said on this blog. She assured me she had no knowledge of these issues being raised and asked to see the link where this was being said. Emailed her the link. She called me back and said she had discussed all these items with the housekeeping supervisor. They had no knowledge of these incidents, but looked into them and alerted their staff that this was being said. Sonia assured me I would have no issues and asked when I was checking in. Got there and the staff had the head housekeeper sweep the room to be sure all was OK. Sonia herself called me and I met her face to face where she asked if everything was all right. All I can say is they took very good care of me and I saw nothing close to the complaints - and I looked. Don't know what happened to these other folks, but I advise that if you read something bad, call the manager and check it out for yourself. There are two sides to every issue and give a business a chance to answer the criticism. If you don't like the answer, then go somewhere else. These guys were very conciencious and responded. I'd stay here with my family again.

Motel 6 is better
By ,
I had to stay at that hotel for around 20 days since I was in the process of moving. I usually stay at good hotel because of my job. I stayed for 10 days in one room and then I had to move to another one The ice machine on my floor didn't work that whole time that I was there, so I had to get in to elevator to go to a different floor to get ice. The parking was extremely far from my room (the buildings are connected) and the elevator of the parking building didn't work for the first week, so I had to use the stairs to go up and down one floor, (from 4 to 3) walking a very long hallway to get to another elevator to go to the lobby, cross the entire building to take another elevator to go to my room One night I've ordered Caesar Salad, apparently they were short on croutons so they just added some old and impossible to chew bread. Since the kitchen was already closed I ended up eating lettuce They offer a $5 if you chose no to get your room done but it has to be delivered by a security person at night. 4 every 5 times they fail to do so, so next morning I had to call to ask for it. some times I would get tired of waiting and I gave up The hotel was very dirty, the carpets are old and disgusting Never again. The only good thing is the location (is on the beach) but is not worth it)

Rash from their Bed Bugs sheets n Mold
By ,
The first day we checked in, we noticed the sheets were dirty.. called up and they changed them.. the next day we woke up with a severe rash all over our body, continued to itch.. (it was not prickley heat).. I'm a RN.. We started to complain, nothing was done... Then we found Mold literally growing in the closet...Laselle from housekeeping even confirmed it due to the ice machine in the hall way that leaked into our room. She was very helpful and apologized. She even comped the room, but of course the next day when we were checking out, they wouldn't comp it. So, when I went back to NY, I confirmed our rash and it is from dirty linen and is a fungai that is from the hotel. I'm sending the bill to them!

Stay Away!!!!!
By ,
In my opinion this is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The carpets were stained, the wall plates were loose, the walls were dirty, there was a hole in the comforter, and the worse thing was there was an insect problem. We had ants all over the room, had an unidentified insect in our bed, and found a large insect that looked like a roach in our bathroom. The first two nights our son's face was puffy and red, and the last day I had four large red bumps on my chest. We reported the problem the second night and they sent someone to replace the pillows, change the comforter and wipe down the tables. On the fourth day we checked out early. Love the Sheraton chain, have stayed in many nice hotels, this one was disgusting. I will never stay there again, even if it was on the beach. Oh by the way watch out, the pool staff was trying to charge the guest for the free chairs.

It is just OK... rooms are old ....hallways are dingy and dirty. long walk through ugly hallways to get to the beach....nice beach and service at beach (towels and chairs). waited 45min or more for a sandwich at the pool bar.

THE MERMAID ALONE WAS WORTH IT!
By ,
I was so impressed by the Wreck Lounge. It has a genuine briny look- Allthough the staff could be a bit more attentive. A beautiful girl dressed as a mermaid with black hair swam past the windows during happy hour, and I was enchanted (so were my 2 daughters!). Reminded me of the shows that entertained at the old hotels I visited in the 1950's. She came down to the bar after her swim, and explained her intentions to bring back some of the lost performance attractions that made visiting Florida so popular back in the day. She really knows her stuff. Congratulations oh mermaid! You certainly brought back lots of memories & put a smile on my face!! Whenever I want to return to the Yankee Clipper, I simply look for Wreck Bar Mermaid on Youtube, and watch the mermaid swim.

Don't Stay Here
By ,
We came in after a cruise on Holland America, and were treated horribly by the man at the front desk. He tried to give us the wrong room (Standard room, we booked the deluxe suite w/ balcony) and then made us wait over three hours for it to be ready. When it finally was "cleaned" we went up to our room and found that it was not. There were crackers smashed into the floor, and an empty Pringles can beneath the coffee table. The furniture was beat up and dirty and looked nothing like the photo shopped images on their website. Our balcony was also dirty, and very small. It was located right next to the street, so we heard the local skateboarders all night. Our ocean front view was not ocean front. More like roof front. All we could see was the roof of the hotel, and then the beach. The outlets were a fire hazard, the plaster cracked around it. The TV barely worked, and the internet service was slow at best. The room had a musty odor and there was mildew and mold growing on the windows and in the shower. The shower mirror (The glass was all scratched and destroyed) was inconvenient and provided a horrible shaving/shower experience. The doors to the bathrooms were sliding doors from the 70's and had large gashes in them. The beds had not been vacuumed under in years, and the beds had springy mattresses, not at all like they said they were supposed to be (the feather top ones). We were supposed to receive the romance package with wine, chocolate, and flowers, but it was never sent up. Overall this hotel is a dump. It's a mess and barely cleaned. There is so much to complain about with it that it would take too long. Don't stay here. It's a ripoff and not worth your time. The Hilton by the airport is much nicer, and a better deal. The staff are also more hardworking and willing to help.
