A Disappointment

Lots of traffic in this area of the island. Also, the beach at the Inn is hard packed, not the soft sand that you get at the other end of the Island (closer to Captiva Island). I took my family (with two young sons) to Sanibel Inn at the end of March 2005. Knowing that the island had been hit hard by a hurricane the previous summer, I took the trouble to call the Inn to be sure that the Inn was fully operational with all repairs completed. I was assured by the person at the front desk that this was the case. What I arrived to was a construction zone, not a vacation resort. Every building at the Inn was under construction except for the buidling that my family was staying in along with a few other duped out-of-town travelers. The worst part was that the Inn was totally unapologetic and, despite the obvious inconvenience to its guests, was still charging full price for rooms and charging for bikes and lounge chairs. I stayed 2 nights and then checked out to spend the rest of my vacation at a resort that was not under construction.
