So far so very, very bad...

I used Priceline to book this hotel - bidding for a 3 1/2 star plus hotel. When we arrived, we were first told that the "resort fee" of $16 per night (plus tax) was included in our pre paid reservations. Then the desk clerk said she was mistaken and that we would have to pay it. It took a 30 MINUTE heated discussion to get this fee waived. The added time at check-in forced me to miss a concert that I had been anticipating for over two months... gotta love that.
The resort fee covers the pool, hot tub, and work out room... all things I would EXPECT at a 3.5 star hotel. It also covers the "opportunity" to spend $$$ in the spa, without paying an admission charge... Amazingly, the indoor pool and hot tub close at 5:30 PM tomorrow!!! Oh, and I forgot - your $16 includes self parking in a dirt parking lot - DIRT!
The room is fine but nothing special... nice view of the pool, wich overlooks a weedy, poorly landscaped lawn overlooking the bay. But there are palm trees... and water, so it's not all bad.
The resort is undergoing some renovations, so maybe it will be worthwhile at some point. In a vain search for an ice machine we wandered in to a hall of unlocked (missing locks) rooms with doors partially open in various stages of demolition. Kind of weird. You would think they would rope off those areas.
I would avoid this place. It reminds me of a buffett I visited in Atlantic City once... all you could eat, but they neglected to tell you that you couldn't have refills of your 10oz soda... even if you paid... or even water. So yeah, it's all you can eat, but try not to choke.
If you're bidding on Priceline for this area, make sure that you do not select "Resort" or allow it to upgrade you to a resort, or you could get stuck here too.
