The room was filthy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/09
Cobwebs so thick on the walls it looked like the Haunted Mansion. Dust, dirt, broken faucets and MOLD on the bathtub grout. Oh, let's not forget the stopped up sink. We asked that the room be cleaned and they said it already was ! Room 1020 the Tahiti bldg.

Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/24/08
The rooms were huge, not dark as I had heard, and clean every day (including towel animals). I loved it - my only complaint was that the refrigerator didn't cool very well. I would certainly recommend!!

The best hotel we've ever stayed in
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/08
We are picky people when it comes to cleanliness and privacy and have stayed at numerous top notch hotels in NYC, FL, CT, etc., and this is the best and quietest hotel we've ever stayed in. If you go there, we truly recommend you stay at a concierge building like the Hawaii building. It's more expensive than the other rooms, but trust me, you'll love it. The building door only opens to the people who have a key card to these rooms, and two (sometimes 3) concierges are sitting at their desks just waiting in case someone needs anything like reservations, hints, directions, special requests, deliveries, etc. Total pampered privacy inside the building, and free snacks, sodas, juices, milk and meals throughout your stay (only at the concierge buildings). The pool is only 4' deep, but it's meant for kids and has a huge waterslide built into a mountain so I can't complain there. The only thing that could be improved is some of the food. If you are not used to polynesian style foods and want more familiar food, you may want to have roomservice deliver items from the kids menu. Also the internet is not wireless yet, but if you think about it we didn't go there to be in the room surfing the internet all day long. These are not really problems though. Everything was perfect. Absolutely loved it. We will not even look elsewhere next year.

Disney's Poly'ripoff' Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/08
Played golf at the resort the day of check in......had a meeting to attend to later in the day.......called to see if I could check in a little early so I could shower and make it to the meeting.....couldn't tell me....missed the meeting.....fridge didn't work, got a replacement and it didn't work.....A/C didn't work.....almost charged me for an extra day......No internet access unless you had your own computer....Cable TV selection was limited to family shows, christian shows, local network and resort info. Couldn't even get TNT...For the money I paid 250/night which apparently is a deal it was totally overpriced Will never stay there or at another Disney Resort

Great location / Questionable Experience
By John Y, 10/17/07
I have probably stayed at the Polynesian 10 times in my life since childhood. The location is unbeatable with views of the Disney castle from the beach and a quick ride on the monorail. The rooms have been updated several times over the years and now include LCD televisions. The service is usually wonderful and friendly. My single biggest complaint is the room noise. You can literally walk down the hall and pick out people's conversations as you go by. In the mornings, if you're lucky like me, you'll awaken to the tunes of your neighbor's child belting out a Hannah Montana tune in the shower. Hopefully, unlike myself, you won't be sent to a room that is already occupied by someone taking a shower when you walk in! I guess that's one way to get a free night ;o) One last thing, they desperately need a WiFi network or at the very least, a business center in the complex where one can access email. Overall, a wonderful experience, but for those kind of prices, let's insulate the walls and doors please.

Beautiful resort, great location!
By Linda, 07/17/07
Concierge rooms are very comfortable and convenient with a helpful concierge staff and beautiful lounge, but we've stayed here many times and enjoy the Tahiti longhouse as well. The garden view is lush and private, the water view is pretty too. The Tahiti rooms are a little larger and a short walk from the Transportation Center. Very relaxing atmosphere, beautiful grounds, friendly staff. We stayed at the Grand Floridian for our first few visits, also a beautiful resort, but just love the casual & fun atmosphere of the Polynesian. By and far our favorite resort. Recently remodeled, new decor very pretty, beds & pillows are very comfortable.

Excellent Place to Stay
By Aaron, 05/28/07
We stayed here between Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2006. We did our research and decided on staying on property at the Polynesian for the location. We were not disappointed. The room was recently renovated, so in very good condition. Since I travel a lot for work, 150-175 nights a year, and generally stay in moderate to upscale hotels, (Marriott, Hilton, Westin, Sheraton) this hotel rates right up there and then some. We stayed in Tokelau and the room was very spacious, even with 2 adults, 3 kids and a baby. We chose this location because it was not too far from the main house and was still a very easy walk to the Transportation and ticket center. The room was well decorated and the HDTV actually had HD channels. We ate several times at Captain Cook's for both Breakfast and Dinner and the food was good and not terribly priced. I especially liked the self serve Dole Whips. The Volcano pool was hit with my kids. However, it was not heated so not a hit with me. The quite pool was were I preferred to relax and it was nice that it was so close to our room. We also at breakfast at Ohana's and it was good food, not the best, but good, but the kids LOVED seeing the characters so it made getting up early after a late night in the park worth it. The tropical theme is very nice and the staff was very friendly, with everyone saying "Aloha" and offering help even when it wasn't needed. The location is fantastic. It is great to be able to get on the monorail and ride to two parks. The bus system becomes frustrating after you get spoiled by the monorail. We also took the boat over the Magic Kingdom several times, just to change it up a bit. We walked to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center, about a 5 minute walk, almost every day as depending on what we were doing it sometimes was more convenient to just walk than wait for the one stop ride over the resort. This resort was in the perfect location to come back mid-day, let the baby and me take a nap, let the kids swim and let mom read a book before going out to do it again. I would without hesitation recommend this resort to anyone and once you get over the sticker shock per room night and realize you do get what you pay for, you'll be planning your next trip back before you even leave.

Always Magical
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/22/07
My husband and I visit Disney 5 to 6 times a year. This was our first time at the Polynesian. We had a high traffic room which they switched us out immediately when we complained. Every single cast member smiled and said 'aloha'. We ran out of shampoo and housekeeping brought us a small bag of shampoo and conditioner within minutes. This last visit was my husbands birthday. We arrived back to our room to find an autographed picture of Mickey Mouse personally sending birthday wishes to my husband. We found messages on the room phone saying thank you for choosing the Polynesian and another saying 'hope your stay is well and everything is magical...if not call front desk ....' The view from the pool bar is amazing...the fireworks at night are breathtaking and there was a night parade on the water for the 3 hotels on the lake. There is a private boat that serves the Polynesian and the Grand Floridan. It only seats about 20 or so people which was never crowded. We have probably been to Disney approx. 30 times. We have never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and willing to help.
