great place!
By KC, 07/28/08
My husband and I decided to stay here after the good review it got in Fodors. We loved this place!! The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. It's a great place to stay if you want to lounge around and relax! We loved the pool that overlooks the ocean and we watched the sunset in one of the many hammocks they have by the water. Can't wait to come back!

The last resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/07
Stayed there in May 07 in the Conch Cottage. Pictures of cottage were deceptive. Shelves on refrigerator were duct taped to keep things from falling off of shelves when the door was opened. They advertise full kitchen, but did not have a microwave to reheat items. Kitchen looked like something from the 60's or 70's era. The mismatched dining chairs had torn seats. The water pressure in the shower was horrific! Had to stand almost against the shower wall to get wet. One night we had a Gegco lizzard in the bed which freeked the wife out. Large amount of floating seagrass in the cove, which gave off an odor. Came back from a day trip and housekeeping left our door ajar so that anyone could have helped themselves. Called office and complained and requested not to have any daily housekeeping. The day before we left, housekeeping came in anyway. We won't be staying here again. Maybe they should rename it "The Last Resort"

One of the best spots on the Keys!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/07
We spent a week this April (2007) at Lime Tree in a king suite with kitchen. It was great..clean, well maintained, great service, affordable, beautiful sunsets, nice pool & hot tub, places to grill, palm trees, hammocks, decent snorkeling off shore for beginners, fishing from the dock. My whole family had a wonderful experience..would highly recommend.

Treasure in the Keys
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/06
My Husband and I can't say enough good things about this laid back, friendly, non pretentious resort. We live in Colorado and travel all over and this is the place that we always dream of going back to. We love it so much that we planned our wedding around there schedule. The sunsets are an experience that should not be missed. It is a time to take your bottle of wine done to the beach to meet your temporary neighbors and forget about your troubles. This is not a place that you should miss.

We look forward to visiting again!
By Amanda, 07/26/06
This resort was perfectly located and extremely relaxing and quiet. Unlike most couples our age who go down to the Keys to party, we wanted to get away from the fast pace for a few days and just relax. This place was perfect. We fully enjoyed our stay. When we last visited, we were living in Orlando, and we now live back in Michigan. We are planning a cruise and a short stay in Florida again soon and are definately planning another stay at the Lime Tree Bay Resort. It is one of the things I look forward to most about our vacation.

The Lime was quite sour!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
We just returned from a stay at the Lime Tree 7/13-7/15/06 Room 111. We were very disappointed in this "resort". The best part was the lounge chairs outside near the water, away from the resort. The water is unusable unless you have a boat and a full body scuba suit. It was very green, slimy dirty water! Of course, this isn't the hotels fault, but it sure isn't what is advertised. The rooms are tiled and very old. The bathrooms were the worst part-more like outhouses with running water. The shower was especially gross (mildew). The blinds were very old and broken. Apparently, I don't understand how the rating system for resorts work. This is advertised as a 3 star, but it doesn't compare to any other 3 star we have stayed at. It should be no more than a 1 rating. The word "resort" should not be associated with the Lime Tree Bay. They charge for a bag of ice and if you want ice for drinking, you have to get it while the office is open and it is rationed to you. Local calls are 50 cents each. Don't let your children flip through the television channels either. We happened upon a pornographic channel! While we were there, they seemed to cater to loud, large groups of drunken fishermen and their friends, not couples on vacation. Parking wasn't readily available. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone- especially those looking for a bit of paradise!

Wonderful little peaceful base in the Middle Keys!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
The Lime Tree is a low key, yet wonderful little haven in the middle keys, just waiting to be discovered. It's a motel style hotel, only much prettier. The rooms are basic but clean and colorful, nicely air conditioned and stocked with the necessities like refrigerator and coffee maker. The grounds are beautiful, right on the Gulf of Mexico. It's secluded and peaceful and the grounds feature hammocks and wicker beach lounging chairs amongst the exotic foliage, right outside your door. You can literally step outside and into a hammock by the ocean. It's a great way to a nice cold beer while watching the sunset. The grounds has a pool and hot tub on a raised platform on the edge of the ocean, so you can cool off in between bouts of sun bathing. The hotel has friendly staff and its location provides easy access to both the upper and lower keys. When i visited in September, the rooms were great value at the exceptionally cheap off season rate of $79 a night and extremely comfortable. A really relaxing base for our travel in the Keys.

great place to get away
By Mark, 08/25/05
Stayed there this spring, a great place to get away to and relax. Not a lot to do in the immediate area unless you like to fish (which I do) or lay in the shade and drink margaritas by the pool which is alright too. Our room was very nice and decorated like you would expect in the keys.
