Very Disappointing
By Anthony, 09/15/09
My wife & I along with my 2 children stayed at Shephards in July 2009. It was the most horrible experience I ever had. They put us in a room close to the nightclub, they said that nothing else was available. We could not fall asleep until after the club closed & after the drunks from the club finished running & yelling up & down the hallways. If your life is based on drinking you will love this resort but if you are a family person stay away. One night at 2:30 in the morning there was continous noise in the hallway. I called the desk & reported it twice. The clerk was very rude & said what do you expect?, the club just closed, it will quiet down soon. I had my fill of the noise so I opened my door to see what was going on & I could not believe what I saw. A man was standing up against the wall & a girl was on her knees in front of him, need I say more. At this point after tolerating the 2 days of hell we decided to check out. We had to forfit the remaining 3 nights that we paid for. The desk clerk & manager did not care one bit about making good for our horrible stay, instead the manager said that if I could not deal with people having a good time then I should stay home. What an insult. This resort should be closed down. I cannot believe the City of Clearwater allows such activities to go on. Well you live & learn. The bright side is that when we checked out we stayed at another hotel in Clearwater, on the mainland & enjoyed the rest of our stay. The hotel was so clean & quiet it felt like we left hell & went to heaven.

Poor Service
By Rob, 06/18/09
I booked this hotel through Hotwire for about 50% less than their own website, which was the best part of my stay. Upon checking in, they charge a $10 per night "resort" fee, independent from Hotwire. They also put a $50 hold on your credit card - fair enough. Upon check out, my card was charged twice - each for $430, a total of $860. After calling they apologized and said it was a computer error. $430 was refunded to me the next day. Seven days later and I am still waiting for my other $430 to be credited back. It is impossilble to get a Manager on the phone, however after emailing, I did receive a response. I was "guaranteed" that my credit card was refunded and to allow 24-48 hours for the credit (this is after already waiting 7 days). The Manager said the second charge was credited back to Hotwire and not my credit card. I am very disappointed in the quality of service received by the entire staff while trying to get my money back. They will pass the buck and blame someone, or something, else - never assuming personal responsibility for their error. The hotel itself was okay, and the seafood buffet was great. Use your credit card at your own risk!

never again, the first day we arrive we had to go around the block twice to park because a fight had broken up in the parking lot, our room was right above the tiki bar the music when on till pass 2 in the morning, third day another fight broke up the police was there constantly. a lot of people walk around intoxicated and on top of the I was charge 40 dollars more for booking online.

Never again
By DavidL, 01/17/09
As a place for 20 & 30-year-olds, probably great. But if you want a location for some relaxation you won't get it here. Loud, late music, construction next door, not the best service at the bars or in the restaurant. If you're going for Spring Break, you'll have a ball. Anything else, good luck!!

Great for the family!
By carolmerril, 03/07/08
We went last year for the first time right before Thanksgiving. We had a blast. Lots to do for adult and children alike. Live music on the boardwalk right by the outdoor bars. Friendly people. We met a group of people,I think 4 or 5 families that had been coming here for quite a few years. From 15 down to 5. We made reservations when we left for Thanksgiving of `08. Lots of shops and restaurants outside also, if you want to get out. Pier 60 was great. Can wait to go back!

If you want to be up all night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/08
Location was good and the pool area was nice. The staff only cleaned our room one day-don't know why. I've been in better rooms with much more comfortabe furniture for the same or lower price. And even though I love music, with it starting at 2:30 in the P.M. and going on until 2 the next morning, it became extremely irritating. Therer's no sleep if you're near the pool area. Also, staff not friendly.

No beachfront but good nightclub
By ACE, 04/13/07
The hotel itself was comfortable but the view really wasn't that good. If your looking to wake up and stroll through the beach right in front of you, you'll probably have about 20 steps to take. Not to mention that your not even directly on the coast either. In other words, there practically is no beachfront to the hotel. On top of that, they allow boats to camp in front of your view. So what do you go for? The view? The Beachfront? Neither of these, but it does have its pluses. It has good proximity to alot of good areas like Pier 60, Clearwater beach and Sand Key Beach. I'm a big lover of beaches but my fiancé has a different take, This was our first time visting The Shephards Resort and I would like to say that the bad part about staying there, is the fact that the beach front is very very very small, now on with the good news. The Resort is within walking distance to everything. Shopping, entertainment and a wonderful beach. I highly recommend going to pier 60 2 hrs before the sunset. It is a wonderful time to be with that special someone and the entertainment is great for if you have children.... The Shell Resturant is about 3 mins from the resort and the food is great. I will always have great memories of the resort, because there is were my fiancé ask me to marry him. Tips: Pier 60 and go to the visitors center, they have the best free maps of the beach areas and Shell's restaurant was great!

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
Three years ago we planned a trip to Florida and ended up changing our destination 3 times due to a busy hurricane season. We ended up spending a beautiful evening and night at Shepherds and had breakfast on the deck overlooking the gulf, before heading north again to avoid another looming hurricane. We promise, we'll be back.
