BEST WESTERN Midtown, Sarasota

This is a great hotel, and a great value. The front desk was very helpful and promptly took care of all requests. The location was EXCELLENT, in a nice residential neighborhood with a strip mall in close walking distance, and a great park with a walking/running trail within blocks. It is also close to the beaches as well, a 10 minute drive. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed with microwave and refrigerator. The rooms were cleaned daily, and the maids did a pretty good job. The pool and grounds were well kept, too. The only criticism we had was that the breakfast bar was sort of lame, and the way it was set up was awkward. There wasn't really enough room to accommodate folks, the item selection was very limited, and what was there sometimes ran out. The bread/bagels were often stale, too. However, the people running the breakfast bar were really nice. We had a wonderful time at this hotel, and we will most absolutely go back.

Super clean! Great beds! Pool area is awesome! Close to stores, the beach, restaurants! We planned to stay one night, and ended up staying six. Wish the continental breakfast was a little more creative, but all and all, a GREAT place!!!!

I loved the property and everything that went with it. It had been renovated and they even added new landscaping making it almost like a jungle. They told me they are renovating the breakfast room next to accommodate for more a better array of items. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Sarasota. The location is near everything and the price is just right! You get everything and not for the outrageous prices that the gulf front hotels charge. And the water is a short distance away!!! Would reccommend this hotel to everyone!!!!!

This hotel is a dump! The yard guys were working when we got there and kept blowing debris onto my car. My daughter and I went to check in. The halls had brown standing puddles and cracks. The room was musty and very poorly decorated. We went to a different hotel. The weird thing was that the new hotel (Fairfield Inn) was beautiful, new and LESS expensive than this one. I called and told the desk that we would not be staying there. He said I would be charged for the one night, but not the other two. I said okay as we had already checked into the new hotel. I did not know I had to go back inside. It was pouring rain, so we just ran upstairs, got our suitcases and left the keys in the room. I got home and looked online at my bank statement. They charged me for all three nights. I have now been trying for 2 days to get someone to call me back. They keep saying the manager isn't in. I am highly irritated.

Needs update !! Bad odor, musty in rooms. FD people know nothing, poor attitude for guest services personnel. Rooms dusty !

We had a good experience during our one night stay during the Sarasota Marathon in March, 2006. We found our room clean and the desk staff hospitable and helpful. The price was right, the pool was clean, and no complaints whatsoever!

Made my reservation online and I got through check in fast. The room was just as I requested. The air conditioner was a little fritzy so they wheeled in a new one in about 20 minutes. The location is very near a supermarket and a Bennigans restaurant and a wine shop, so there's no need to be driving all around. The cable TV had TCM. So I was in heaven. It was quiet and comfortable. I don't see what the others were complaining about. I'm no yuppie so I guess I'm easier to please.

Fire Alarm went off at 2 AM three nights in a row. Renovations of hotel went on through the night, adding to the noise. Potentially great location but not a good place to get some sleep. Rooms were all thick with some kind of fruity air freshener.

A great hotel b/c of it is centrally located to all the activities I planned to attend; conference at the Hyatt, downtown dinners, bars, bands off Osprey; a descent bicycle shop. Also church and shopping downtown. The bicycle is a timesaver. The denser the city the better. For those not used to riding between moving cars, it may seem crazy (This coming from someone who has ridden down 5th Ave in NYC durning rush hour and loved it) The combination of walking, biking or the bus will get you about anywhere you need to be, Only down side is busses shut down at 7 pm. The room is a regular hotel room. I've stayed in better, I've stayed in a whole lot worse. Breakfaet was toast, yogurt and such. I usually forgot about it as I had to be a the meeting. Didn't use the pool. Safe area of towm and good retaurants abound Night staff abrupt and could be argumentative (but I think what really bothers her are persons lacking common sence.
