Mixed Feelings
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/09
First let me say that the Panama City Area was about half of the reason for my disappointment during this vacation. Edgewater's age and appearance accounted for the other half. The 2 bedroom size is very roomy, but there is no consistency to the interior decor and many were not very attractive. Our unit had lots of plaster repairs thru-out on the walls and the outside glass on the master bedroom window was stained with a white film. No complaints with the pools and the seafood at Ocean's restaurant near the main pool is actually quite good. Check-in didn't happen for our family until after 6:30, even though we arrived at 2 pm. They were quick to fix a few minor problems with our room and the a/c was working great. Overall, I didn't think it was worth the money and would probably not come back to Panama City. We took time to visit Destin and SanDestin during our week long stay and preferred the area much more. If we were to stay in PC again, we would probably choose Calypso Resort near the Mall. Pro's: Good room sizes Free DVD rentals Great pools and access to the beach Good location to grocery shopping/restaurants Really comfy bed (probably just the one's in our unit) Pier Mall at night Con's: Outdated look of buildings on property Outdated interior decor (no consistency from unit to unit) Check-in proceedure and lack of choice Traffic in the evenings on Front Beach Rd. Tents and other personal items allowed to stay on beach overnight Beer cans and trash everywhere on the beach in the mornings and general condition of the area None of this will ruin your trip, but it just makes the experience much better when you get more than just a great pool. The PC area feels more suited for 20 somethings looking to have some fun. However, Pier Mall is great for almost everyone in the evenings with lots to see and eat.

Don't Go There
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/09
We stayed in Edgewater Beach Resort not by choice but by a condo owner who accidentally double-booked their condo for the first night of our stay- they arranged for our stay at Edgewater for that one night on their account (money). Our first encounter was when I accidentally pulled into the "Owner's" entrance of Edgewater. The condo owner told us that by the time we reached Edgewater's office we would have a room for the night, but I couldn't get in the Owner's entrance. As luck would have it, someone happened to be leaving so I walked through the exit gate before it closed (I was trying to find the office). The guard (who was not visible from the street) behind the gatehouse told me where the office was but that I would have to walk there and back-around to my car as he couldn't open the exit gate (the office was about a quarter mile away). His supervisor had to come and open the exit gate for me to get back to my car/family. When we did finally arrive at the office the desk clerk told me that the condo owner would have to fax a copy of both sides of his credit card, along with a filled-out rental form back to her. He didn't have a fax machine, so we almost didn't get the room; if the condo owner wouldn't have had local connections then we would have had to go somewhere else. Finally, at about 12 midnight we got the room and checked-in. After unloading just enough luggage to get us through the night I went looking for ice- the refrigerator in the room had none. I went looking outside the room for an ice machine- there was none to be found, and nobody to ask. So, I walked back down to the office to ask the friendly (not) desk clerk; she told me that there were no ice machines (Edgewater was a "Resort") but that the convenience store across the street had ice. So, after getting something cold to drink there I went back to the room. The next morning we awoke with about an hour to spare, finding that checkout time was 10am. When I called down to the office to inquire about a late checkout I was told that we would be charged $50 for each hour past 10am! Now about the room- our (Master) bedroom was mostly fine, but needed updating. What wasn't fine (unless one considers that the charge for late checkouts) was that there were 3 or 4 vertical blinds missing at the sliding glass door adjacent to the bed. For those folks like me who can't easily sleep in daylight this is a problem- I got about 5 or 5.5 hours of sleep that night. Last, as we were hurriedly leaving another guest at the elevator asked a clerk (who just happened to be waiting for the elevator, too) about ice machines- she told him about the "Resort" thing and that he could purchase ice at the Resort's restaurant or the convenience store across the street- but that the convenience store was cheaper (!). The bottom line is that we 1) have never stayed in another hotel/condo/resort complex where they did not have ice machines, and 2) charged for a late checkout. The only positive that I can find about our stay/room was the balcony, but at 1:00am that didn't impress me as much as it did our teenagers. I would not recommend this complex to anyone, especially for the price that the condo owner paid for the room!

Awful Stay
By Devlan, 04/30/09
I stayed at this place several years. Never had a problem until this past year. Went there with my family and we were given unit 1610 in the villas. This room was so dirty. First impression of the room was the floors were dirty. The whole room. Both bathrooms had urine on the toilet seats from previous tenants. Their were items broken. They would not change us to another room. They said they were booked. After all that they charged me for what they said was they had to clean blood from the unit which it did not come from any of us. YUK! Who knows where it came from and how long it has been there. I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN.

This place will rip you off.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/09
They charged us for pool tags that we turned in at the front gate. Do not use their express checkout. Make sure that you have proof that you turned in keys and pool tags. The one bedroom is extremely small. The dining table was ustable. Small microwave. Queen bed instead of King.

Dishonest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/08
In April of 2008 we were to stay at Edgewater, We had sent the deposit and later the full payment. Our son was in an auto accident and spent two months in the hospital. We had to cancel our trip. We expected to lose our deposit, as the contract stated. As of today 9/1/08 we have been unable to get a call-back or recover our $2500.00 payment, minus the $500 deposit.

Great for Families
By Shannon R, 07/09/08
We were greeted by Marlon at the front desk, who went out of his way to find us a great location quickly. When we checked in, the weather was bad and our cable was out, so he gave us an unlimited movie rental card. Even though we stayed in a villa across the road from the beach, all we ever had to do was dial "0" and a stretch "limo" golf cart would pick us up at our condo. The kids loved the pool and the beach was fantastic. It was nice having security at the beach entrance. Some friends from another resort came for an afternoon and Marlon was kind enough to give them a one day pass to join us on the beach. We highly recommend the Edgewater and plan to return next year!

2 Star or less roach Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/08
Badly maintain common areas and rooms. Air conditioner in room was not working and leaking water onto carpeting. Bathtub was clogged and water would rise above your ankles. Roaches entering thru the locked front door. Terrible customer service and definitely not worth the rates quoted. Would not recommend it to anyone unless you get Motel 8 prices.

Nasty Beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/07
We rented a 4BR penthouse tower3 unit 1212 from 10/12/07-10/22/07 through VRBO.com. The view was amazing. We had a fantastic roof top deck with hot tub. We liked our unit. However, the resort needs a good scrubbing and paint. The beach was gross; cigarette butts, broken beer bottles, beer cans, trash everywhere. I cut my foot on a plastic fork the first day. I complained to housekeeping, the front desk and the director, Robert something. They were polite but I was told they contract the beach cleaning services out and there was nothing they could do. The pool deck and public spaces were also very dirty. The lagoon and landscaping are beautiful but ruined by the grime.

perfect!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/07
This place is really awesome for families. Be sure to get on the beach side - there are 3 tower units that look out directly on the gulf. Tower 1 is the best because you can not only watch the beach, but also all the action at the huge lagoon pool. We went with friends that stayed on the golf villa side - they pretty much stayed with us in our tower unit whenever possible.
