We wont go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/11
I am really surprised at those reviews. they were the reason I can with my wife to a getaway weekend. I dont recommend this hotel to anyone since there are many better hotels in the region that offer much more than here. Beach front: Most hotels in pensacola beach has a view to the ocean, so it is not true that this hotel has a spectacular view, it is the same ! There is no restaurant in the hotel, no bar, swimming pool which was rebuilt looks awful for adults, maybe good for kids The staff are not helpful, the room service is a disaster! I dont know..maybe these people paid very little thats why they enjoyed what they paid for??? I dont recommend this hotel to anyone......I was looking forward for a nice vacation with my wife and we ended up in a very low class hotel that should perhaps be 1-2 star AT MOST!!!! If you care too much about paying extra dollars, then stay in this hotel and enjoy your cheap vacation

Stayed there in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2009.
By Ed, 9/15/11
The hotel has major changes since the 2004 hurricane. The pool was relocated to the east side of the hotel and the bar is gone. The entire lobby was re-arranged as well. The little restaurant is gone as well. This is still an excellent hotel and I would highly recommend it. Last trip was in mid-May instead of July. This was a good choice because it was cooler. We hope to make it back soon.

Out Favorite Hotel on the Beach!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/11
My husband and I stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon before it was destroyed by a hurricane several years ago. We also took our kids there on vacation several years ago. Then it was destroyed by a hurricane and rebuilt 4-5 years ago. It was called "The Dunes" back in the day, and now it's Holiday Inn Express, but we still call it The Dunes. We recently went back for vacation, did not have a reservation, but decided to try our luck and see if they had a room. We mentioned to the desk clerk, a very friendly young man by the name of Carlos, that we had been there before their rebuilding. We paid for a gulf front room and he handed us the key and said he had a nice surprise for us, that we would have to put our key in a slot on the elevator to get off on the 8th floor. He had given us a Penthouse Suite, unbelievable! Made our whole vacation! It was perfect, everything so very nice. Very clean, as we remembered from before, beautiful jacuzzi, fabulous private patio with gorgeous view of the ocean. We had a wonderful time, very good service, just a few steps to the beach, the grounds are kept up very well. Just very high class, but family friendly too. Have never been treated better! Thanks, Carlos!!

Perfect Hotel!!!
By "T", 8/23/11
This was the best hotel I have ever been too. My husband and I wanted a nice quite place for us to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We read all the reviews even drove over there to take a look. It is in a very quite part of Pensacola Beach. We booked the hotel and the women at the counter told us that she would put a note on the account about our anniversary and see what they can do. We really didn't except anything. However when we arrived there was a huge sign wishing us a happy 7th anniversary. We then went to check in and they informed us that they put us at the highest room possible so it would be more romantic. We then went up to the room and there was a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us and a card from the hotel wishing us a happy anniversary. And the room was fabulous! Then in the morning they have a REAL hot breakfast. I mean like you would get on a buffet. The staff is fabulous, the rooms are fabulous, it is quite and romantic. We could not have asked for more. it was perfect. I would stay there many many more times and would recommend anyone to stay there.

What more can I say?
By RidgelineRanger, 8/4/11
All the other reviews have said it all, but still I have to say I was impressed by how CLEAN everything was from the front door to the balcony...I didn't even see sand/dust on the balcony furniture or handrail, THAT was clean. The bed was comfy, furniture was attractive and comfortable, but hey we came for the beach. A special shout out to Dusty the attendant on the beach with Horizon Rentals, for maintaining the chase lounges, and such on the beach. Overall, we love this place and are planning a return trip next year, if not sooner.

Everything and more than we expected!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/11
From the moment we arrived, every employee we had contact with treated us in a warm and friendly manner, from the front desk staff, to the dining room staff to the grounds/maintenance staff. The room was great, the balcony space excellent and private. With all the rooms facing the Gulf, I don't believe there is a bad room in the building. The wonderful breakfast choices each morning set a great tone for the day and carried us over till the evening meal. We appreciated that the hotels location was within walking distance of the boardwalk area, but not located in the heart of the boardwalk thus providing a less crowded, less noisey beach experience. Some might view the fact that the hotel does not have it's own lounge as a negative, there is a convenience store and the Land Shark both within walking distance. Holiday Inn Express on Ft. Pickens Rd is a little known treasure and we will be certain to encourage others to stay there and I will definitely look forward to another visit there as well.

Fantastic Hotel in a Beautiful Location!
By Travis, 10/18/10
My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Pensacola Beach for an extended weekend get-a-way in October. The hotel is located right on the beach and every room truly has a spectacular view! The room was extremely clean and much larger than we expected. The staff downstairs was more than helpful with suggesting places to eat, etc. The pool was quite nice, too. The hotel is close to the action, but far enough away to be relaxing. Great room and location for the price!

Best one on the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/10
This HIE is the best on the beach because it is not crowded like the other ones. If it is in Destin, PC Beach, or Fort Walton, it is crazy with wild kids. Pensacola is the best location. I hate to tell everybody because I don't want the crowds to discover it.

It was wonderful :)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/09
I would recommend it highly to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful room with a great gulf front view. It's not in the middle of the nightlife or restuarants, which is great, the beach is quieter also. The restuarants are near by but not so close that you hear the music and noice all night. The staff for great. Free breakfast.

Home away from home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/05
Great place to stay...We have stayed on several occasions. Honestly, it is our favorite hotel ever. The staff is exceptional. You can check in, stay at The Dunes, and actually spend your entire vacaction there. They have everything for a nice, relaxing vacation directly on the beach. Great for couples or the entire family. The last time I left The Dunes, I cried until I got to the mainland, because I was already missing the place. I am ready to go back...today!!! (The only reason we've not been back is due to health problems in family.) Oh,and...The beds are soooooo comfortable in the rooms we have had!
