River Palm Motel, Melbourne

Even after reading all the reviews about the Hotel we went to check it out .for the priece of $50.00 a night we could not complain,.The room we stayed in had new carpet ,wasjust painted, nicely decorated, with a large fridge and microwave. The lady at the front desk was very helpful, professional and friendly, later found out she is the new manager. We will go back and spent a week, the rates for weekly are very reasonable,and everything is close by. We had no problems with bugs, drugs or scummy people.

I was not treated so horribly and lied to when all i wanted to do was take a bath. Waited hours for a single set of towels and paid out all my money and not even offered a refund on a early check out. No refunds but no policy was every printed or posted anywhere. There is drug activity there late at night and prostitution regardless of what the staff of the Motel says. Its said places like this are in business and take people's money and give poor service and poor living conditions.

Really. Nothing more horrible has ever happened on holiday than this hotel.

Conditions are too gross to repeat. Don't stay there. I could not get refund after checking into room and realizing this is NOT where I want to be. Losing the money is nothing to what I could have gotten if I stayed. This motel should be closed down.

What people are saying about it being rather dirty is true but for a seasoned traveler conserving cash it is the best bet, period. I stayed there once in 07 and twice last year(summer 2010) and will be going again many times this year. 10 minutes from the beach and central to the whole area. Can't beat clean hot water, AC and heat, fridge, and the sheets and beds were always clean. The brand new pool is also great. $200 for 2 people for a week is cheaper and far more comfortable than camping at Long Point. We are surfers with reasonable expectations. We also bring most of our own stuff; towels, pillows, bathroom supplies, etc. There are better options if you don't mind spending more, especially if you have high standards and/or street activity scares you.

I have stayed at many hotels and this was BY FAR THE WORST. Very un clean and the manager was very rude and extremely unprofessional. Dont ever stay here!!!!!!!!

Bedbugs, rats, staff using and selling drugs....Money as told to me is all they care about... spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere you won't wake up buzzed out of your mind..........

This dump should be shut down, what happened to the health dept here. I was passing by and decided to stay the night , staff is friendly until you give money , then the hell breaks out , no refunds......... well if your lucky enough not to get bite by bedbugs , the mice will get you or the blood on the sheets will make you sick but you will end up in hospital one way or another and dont tell staff about your problems because they will call the fat security guard (also a drug dealer) who will threaten to have you arrested. Sleep in your car its a better deal . any good post is written by managment . TO HEALTH DEPT: SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN

Its cheap at $40 for the night after tax and you get a clean bed and room, television with HBO and a shower. They got a brand new pool and complimentary coffee. It was a good holdover for 4 days while I was doing some work in Melbourne.

They have a sign in the lobby that ask for online reviews. I think it keeps all the staff on their toes.
