disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/09
some friendly folks ie concierge - but second hand smoke in non-smoking rooms, and received no attention or concern from staff about this - suspect serious ventilation problem. Had to strongly insist that the group rate we were quoted would be honoured ( they badly mismanaged the group booking) - seem to be adminstrative issues here that should be non-existant at the prices they charge for rooms. Great location though, and the restaurant meals were good.

Satruday nite standup comedy show was the hilite
of our 3-day business convention stay. Had a great time at the show and saw an off-the-charts hilarious kid from Baltimore named Erik Myers. An unexpected treat! We had a work meeting in one of their lower-level meeting rooms, which at night they turn into a "comedy club" complete with stage, spotlight, brick wall, etc. They held the show in the exact same room where we just worked for 10 hours--it was a pretty nea & complete transformation of the sterile utilitarian meeting room..it actually felt like a real club-- The parking ain't cheap, the drinks ain't cheap either, but for $10 cover charge it's a pretty good deal---a good time was had by all.

Million doller area with a dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/30/08
I have stayed in many Hyatts in the past, and this one was by far the worst. The hotel has very thin walls for starters, I was awaken many times during the night by either a crying baby or someone yelling in the lobby ( I was on the 7th floor) besides that the carpet in the room was old and dirty looking. The hotel needs a full makeover starting with the management and the rooms. This place does not go along with the upscale area that it is in.

Hyatt Bethesda Review
By Rick, 5/18/08
I travel for a living and I have to say that for the price this hotel charges for a room (even though I'm not footing the bill) is extremely disappointing. The only reason I can see that they get away with charging the rates they do for their sub-standard filthy hotel rooms is because of its location. I certainly can’t see anyone in their right mind paying for a room themselves would opt for this pig pen. The hotel itself is very dirty, not to mention the rooms. What is really sad is that they can't even hide the uncleanness with the dark brown, gold and burgundy color scheme. Filthy carpet, dust everywhere, furniture barley passable, especially the torn dirty desk chairs. (For you own peace of mind, do not look behind the beds or any other furniture! - but do check the corners of your mattresses for bed bugs). The window treatments are in complete disrepair, bathrooms all showcase cracked and stained marble, (don’t bring a black light!) not to mention the rooms with balconies and the sliding glass doors that don’t even close or lock properly. The Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in my opinion has never ranked very high when compared to the Marriott or Hilton chains anyway, although this one has got to be one of the worst! It gives Bethesda a big black eye which is very unfortunate for a state (Maryland) that was just recently rated the wealthiest in the nation. Although, maybe it’s just that the center of Bethesda, MD is poor & dirty? My advice, stay at the newly renovated Marriott Residence Inn across the street. Whether you’re paying for it yourself or your company, you can always come over to the Hyatt if you just want to eat at Morton’s Steakhouse or the unimpressive unclean Daily Grill restaurant.

Basic Hotel Management?!?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/08
My recent experience at the Hyatt Regency may well negate any future stay with this chain. I arrived at 3:15 and while my room wasn't ready(check out at noon and check in by three) I could not imagine keeping a guest waiting until 4:30p.m. for their check in. No comps were offerred. The delay greatly disrupted my plans for the evening as I was to be ready for a cocktail party by 5:00 p.m. I returned to my room after 10:00 that eve and filled out the request form which was to be placed on my door before 2 a.m.(I believe). I filled out a request(prior to 11:00p.m.) for a pot of coffee to be delivered between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. By the time I had to leave at 8:15 a.m., there was still no coffee. I'll wait to see my bill! I have certainly stayed in some of the greatest hotels in our country as well as some of the not so nice hotels, but I have never experienced such a lack of interest in guest comfort or accomodation. My condolences to those of you who expect basic hotel accomodation and courtesy, I did not find this to be a practice of the Hyatt Regency, Bethesda. I will add that there were some lovely personalities serving coffee and delivering my luggage and for them I am grateful.

Could be better.
By m, 6/12/07
Great location but needs a management overhaul. Telephone reservation service would not honor our wedding group rate and was rude. No airconditioning in common areas for the three days we were there. It was 95 outside and inside. The TV only picked up a few channels. In the bathroom, the sink faucets were reversed, the stopper was broken and only 3 large towels were included. In room refreshments included the 1 paper cup coffee maker and 2 bottles of complementary water. The water bottles had tags informing the room holder there was a $5 charge for each bottle if you used the water. Oh, and bring lots of money for tips. With the right management this hotel could be a shining star. During our June visit, it was a big disappointment.

So-So
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/20/07
Zack - Concors bartender - is fabulous. He makes the stay worthwhile. Room is comfortable but cleanliness is a little lacking, i.e., dust behind furniture; evidence of mimimal time spent in room by housekeeping staff. Cost far exceeds what you get at this location. Only single serving coffee maker in room. TWO THUMBS DOWN for the person who needs that morning brew! During my monthly stays over the past 2 years, service has fallen short during each stay. If I were self-paying (rather than my company), I would stay somewhere else. Staff seems a little insensitive to concerns, although they offer a complimentary ammenity; it doesn't make up for the inconvenience. Lots of great dining, shopping, and service (nails, hair, grocery) experiences within close walking proximity.

Fantastic Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/05
This is one of the best places to stay in Bethesda, particularly if you are planning on spending a lot of time in DC. It is located in downtown Bethesda, and is close to a large number of shops and restaurants (with some of the best food on the East Coast). It is also located directly above a metro station. The metro is THE way to travel in the area, especially in DC. DC traffic is arguably the worst in the country, and DC has many one way streets and traffic circles, making it very easy to get lost. However, the metro service is safe, clean, and reliable. The service at the hotel is excellent, as are the accomadations, however, the location is what makes this hotel fantastic.
