Try another place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/06
Right from the beginning I knew this place was a mistake. Youths in the parking lot drinking and playing loud radios was the first indication. It never really quieted down until 3am. The furniture was old and ready to be discarded. The faucet in the sink was in disrepair and you had to play with it to turn it off. There was a small puddle of water under the toilet. Never, Never, Never again! Don't let the fine location fool you.

Can the place be torn down?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/04
Where to start. I never thought that such a place existed except in extremly cheap motels and movies. The bed in our first room dipped really low on one side when you sat down. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and I was able to clean some of the dirty smudges with tissue and water. The bedside lamps did not work. The manager told us today that they had been unplugged. Are the hotel guests supposed to plug/unplug lamps in their rooms? Did housekeeping check the room thoroughly before the next guest used the room? We asked to be moved to a different room and we took pictures of what was in the second room. Brown water gushed out of the tap when we turned the faucet. The toilet bowl had not been flushed properly (we didn't take a picture of that.) The manager told my wife (the next day) that the water in Dover is always flushed once a month and it was in the papers. We did not spend a single night because the rooms were unsanitary. Did I mention that the manager is unprofessional and uncooperative?

The most disgusting hotel I have had the misfortune to set foot in
By sam, 8/29/04
The Ramada Inn - Dover, DE is undoubtedly the most disgusting hotel I have ever had the misfortune to have set foot in. The hotel room I had to take was unfortuneately the last one in Dover available and with good reason; the room was covered in mold and mildew, the sheets worn and dirty, the shower & bath dirty and moldy, the entry door had no security locks and rust stained hinges have worn onto the wallpaper, the window is jammed shut with a coathanger stuck in to hold in place. I literally had to sleep in my clothes and shower standing on a towel to feel remotely clean. I have sent photos to Ramada's Corporate headquarters, this hotel deserves to have the chain name pulled.

Never stayed anywhere this dirty
By Vivian, 8/22/04
My friend and I were shocked at the horrible condition the room was in. There were bugs and spiders everywhere. A bug was even crawling on the blanket on my friend's bed. The man at the front desk told us that he had given us the best room in the hotel. I would have hated to have seen the other rooms if we had the best. We paid a redicious $162.00 to stay and I would love to know how to get these people shut down or at least have inspectors go in and threaten them with the option to clean up or shut down. The price was awful and I could not believe the price. I have considered calling the Chamber of Commerce to see who I could contact to go in and do something about the condition of the place.

Avoid this one
By Paul G, 8/9/04
I wrote a whole long letter about this place. Here's the gist of it: the owners aren't even investing in basic maintenance.

Over a 3 night stay I had 3 rooms. I didn't even stay in the first one because of the smell - smoke (non-smoking room) and mold/mildew. I left the second one because the a/c didn't work. I almost just checked out of the place when I discovered the source of the mildew smell in the third one: under the bed. It seems water has gotten under there and because the frame is one of those solid boxes (so maids don't have to clean under the bed) the water is trapped. I made the smell go away by putting the mattress in the right position to block the smell.

Let's see, what else. I had a bed that was two different heights and so saggy it felt like a hammock. The second bed felt like it was made of plywood. Electrical sockets are loose. You're lucky if you get an iron in your room (some have them, some don't) and if you want a fridge and microwave it's $10/more per night. They'll deliver them right to your door though. The calls I made within Dover city were $0.40 each. It's in a noisy location as well. The towels are cheap and thin. The desk clerks are nice and as helpful as they can be.

If you're going to Dover I recommend the Holiday Inn Express further down the highway.

Mr. Sims
By gasims, 7/14/04
The rooms were filthy and smelled milldewish. The only pleasantry were the cheerful college students working the front desk.

By Eileen, 6/28/04
THIS PLACE WAS FILTHILY. DUCT TAPE HELD THE DOOR TOGETHER. CARPET AND FLOOR ..PUT YOUR SHOES ON BEFORE WALKING ON IT . THE BATHROOM FLOOR LOOKED AS IF IT HAD NEVER BEEN CLEANED. THE BLANKETS ON THE BED HAD ENCRUSTED DIRT.
