Surprisingly Charming!

My daughter was recently married in CT and the bridal party stayed at the Old Lyme Inn where we also had the rehearsal dinner. Although you have to be aware that there is a "faded charm" about aspects of the Inn, we found the overall experience to be wonderful. Our guests from Spain, England and the US had a real New England Feast and were absolutley bowled over. Cocktails and hor d'oevres served in the library were followed by clam chowder, the New EnglandCatch(lobster/clams/mussles/potatos/corn on the cob served in a net) or lobster (and when they say 2 lb, they mean it!)in the dining room. After wrestling the lobsters to the ground, we discovered they were perfectly cooked! The house wine was excellent and the blueberry cobbler w/ice cream rounded out the meal. The rooms (we had the larger ones and a few smaller) were lovely, beds comfortable and price not bad for the area. Make sure the TV works if it is important to you; some cable connections were not so good, but others were perfect. The staff may seem a little distant or quirky at first, but they really responded to all our requests and were very amenable. They do have wireless internet. We had a truly wonderful time and memorable wedding. We felt it was homey and echt, if a little worn around the edges. We would definitely go back again. My daughter loved it!!
