Interlaken Resort, Lakeville

The Interlaken Inn is one of our favorite get away spots. It is close enough to go for a weekend and there is enough there if you want to spend more than a week. There a number of different buildings at the Interlaken and each has its own flavor. There is the main building, Sunnyside, Countryside, Woodside (newly renovated pet friendly rooms,) Townhouse suites, lakeside cottage. You can speak with someone at the staff for suggestions. They have weekend getaway packages and weekly getaway packages which make it a very affordable option for those on a budget. They have weekend getaway packages that are part of the life discovery series for enlightenment on a number of topics ranging from cooking, quilting, dog training poker, pilates, Body mind and spirit enlightenment. The grounds are wonderful and there is so much to do and see in the area. This is another reason it is great. The staff can always point you in a good direction on places to go and see as well. We went up for one of the lifestyle series and we spent a few extra days. We were welcomed back and give wonderful treatment. We have been going back for many years and we would not go back a few times a year if we did not love this place. The restaurant is also fabulous. They have a nice menu and everything is prepared fresh. If you have a favorite dish and call ahead, they will prepare it. If you have a special diet, they will make sure thay have something for you. They aim to please and the food is fantastic. Again, we have been going here for a long long time and it keeps improving. If you have a problem, let the management know and they do their best to fix it. If you like golf..bring your clubs. They have a practice green and the Hotchkiss school has a lovely course open to the public. We love the Interlaken Inn and the only complaint we had with this trip..we had to leave to go home.

What the brochure doesn't tell you is that staff members will barge into your room without knocking! My wife and I retired early because our 7 month old was sick, and as we attempted to go to sleep, the manager on duty opened our door to check to see if our room was flooding (this was during the remnants of Gustav). No knocks, no forewarned phone calls from the office. Just come on in. Good thing we weren't getting intimate. Good thing I didn't attack the guy thinking we were being broken into. Good thing I was there to calm my wife down. And from the management: "Sorry." Not classy at all. Very overpriced for under delivered amenities. I would never recommend this place.

We stayed at the Countryside building. The room was spacious and beautiful. The staff was very helpful, from recommending places to go and things to do, to replacing the burned out lightbulb. The only negative for us was the price of the food - it was a little expensive, and a little fancier than we're used to, but it was good, and again, the service was excellent.

We brought our kids up for the School break - great fun in the snow! We went skiing at both Mohawk Mountain and Butternut Basin (both within about 20 minutes or so). Nice rooms, reasonable rates.

I want to say that the accommodations were excellent. I was very impressed and received outstanding service. Everyone in my church retreat were also extremely pleased. I will be back really soon. I could have taken the new mattress home...(lol). The staff @ Interlaken deserve applause!

We have stayed in the Lakeville area before but never even knew about the Interlaken Inn. It has far more to offer than the other inns, which don't have any recreation available on property. At the Interlaken we were able to go canoeing, play tennis, use the gameroom and exercise room and more. It was really quite nice to have so much to do without having to drive. Pros - very clean, nice staff (excellent dining!!!!) and beautiful scenery. Cons - Lakeville is really out of the way though Route 7 and Route 22 are nearby.

We had a lovely time at the Interlaken. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful as is northwest Connecticut. We hope to visit again in the future. Best. Kay Conrad

Please think twice about utilizing or promoting this property! I don't have enough space here to explain how horrible my experience was in dealing with the employees and management at the Interlaken. I had booked my wedding here for September 2006. It took (no exaggeration) seven tries and six months to receive a correct written contract after the Interlaken took my deposit. The salesperson who originally booked my wedding left the hotel and after that point, it took two weeks to get phone calls or emails returned. All of the agreements that were made verbally were no longer honored. Including the agreement that all deposits would be transferable in the case that the event be canceled. When my fiance walked out on the wedding four months prior, the General Manager told me that he was the "biggest loser" in all of this because he wouldn't be receiving the profit he expected that day. I have worked in hotels for eight years and am currently a meeting planner who travels to hotels approximately 1-2 times per month. I have never seen such poor service as I did at the Interlaken Inn!

Fran, thank you so much for your part in making our weekend a huge success. I was especially impressed by the weather you arranged. The Inn was ideal for our group, and everyone was very helpful when help was required. Your suggestions for outside meals were excellent, too. Everyone was delighted with the fare, and we all ate way too much. The kids tried everything and had the time of their lives. I am getting tons of good info for my ancestry project, especially on the Civil War service of Myles' great grandfather. NARA is a good website (National Archives), but I don't know how much use it would be for you. Ancestry. com is definitely THE site to explore without having to travel somewhere. Good morning Mr. Bousguet. I just wanted to send you a brief comment or two on my overnight stay with my husband to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. We stayed overnight on May 28. We enjoyed our "mini" vacation very much. We found your inn to be very quiet and peaceful and a nice break from our busy lives. I'm sure that at various times, the inn is bustling and extremely busy. The weather was still chilly and so we didn't get the chance to enjoy the pool, but found it pleasing to look out at from our room. We also got to enjoy canoeing on the lake Sunday morning. Two things stand out that you should be very proud of. Your chef on duty Saturday evening was extremely talented. Our dinner was exceptional and one of the best that we have enjoyed. Our highest compliments. The gentleman waiter that we had (I'm sorry that I cannot remember his name) was very efficient and likeable. He suggested an apple Martini for me as I asked his advice on something special. It was excellent, and my husband, after tasting it, ordered one for himself as well. His talent added to the pleasure of our dinner date. Most of all, we would like to compliment the gentleman at the front desk that was there upon our check-in on May 28th. I believe his name is Winston. Instantly likeable, he was a treasure of information. He was able to make us feel very welcome, comfortable and happy to be there. I understand that he has been with you for some time. We received complimentary drinks and breakfast the following morning with a very sincere hand written note from him. The city hotels and inns just don't have the quality of service that these employees have given to us as visitors. They bestow a feeling of warmth as if welcoming you into their own home. We have four children ranging in ages of 19 to 12. My husband travels a lot and getting time away is welcomed. Thank you again for making our visit to your Inn so welcome. Respectfully, The Browns
