Not a good experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/07
The resort had many hidden fees (parking and resort fee). The resort charged my credit card approximately $5000.00 dollars for a room that was prepaid through Orbitz. I'm still trying to get this issue resolved.

Property Improving
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/07
When I read the other user reviews on this site, I was sad to see so many negative comments. I have stayed at the Vail Cascade quite often in the last three years and when I lived in Vail it was a local's favorite for the spa, gym and dinner. I asked a friend what happened at the property and they said there have been a number of management changes over the last two years and that they finally have a new general manager in charge. This would explain why my service during my last visit in May was a lot better than my stay last fall. What I love most about the Vail Cascade is its creekside location. When I stay at the property I always ask for a creekside view. My last room was a garden level room with views of the water - I opened my window and listend to the creek all night long which is my favorite sound in the world. With all of the construction going on in Vail this summer, the hotel's locations which is slightly removed from all of the construction is ideal. During my stay in May I didn't have to fight with construction traffic or more importantly, noise. This hotel is still my favorite in the area, I recommend people give it another chance.

Too expensive.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/07
I paid nearly $900 per night for what was supposed to be ski in ski out. I was very disapointed to see that it is not truly ski in ski out. The hotel is west of the rest of the mountain, true they have a lift, but it is impossible to get back to the hotel from the mountain.

They are living on their location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/07
Very sad stay. This hotel is simply living on it's location. The hotel decor is horrible, but the setting is amazing. The staff doesn't care at all about the people they are serving. The bar service took 45 minutes to get a drink. The restaurant took 2 hours to get a steak. Definitely would not recommend. There are better hotels in Vail.

Very rude staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/07
Definitely don't waste your time with this hotel. From the front desk staff to the restaurant staff to housekeeping staff, they were all very rude.

2 Star Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/07
Very over rated hotel. Staff doesn't care. Room was dirty. Restaurant was horrible. Would not recommend to anyone. Look into the other hotels in Vail.

Don't waste your time and money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/06
My wife and I planned to have a romantic weekend in the mountains for our first anniversary. We were looking forward to our plans at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa. We arrived to the hotel and checked in. We received our room key and were told by the front desk receptionist that it was going to be a great view. When we opened the door and entered the room it was a wonderful view of the parking garage. I called down to the front desk and informed them that the view was not acceptable, so they told me to come down to the front desk and they will give me a new room (I guess the thought of bringing me my key card was not an option, like it is in most resort hotels). By the way, they never even called anyone to take our bags to our room. So we went to the new room and it was a so called Mountain View room. More like a view out of a manhole sized window of a ski lift. Either way we were exhausted from the flight and drive so we just decided to stay. My wife kept telling me how cold the room was so we raised the thermostat to 90. Three hours later the temp was stable at 70. Mind you it's a mountain resort and it gets cold. The thermostat was not working and it continued to get cold so we called the front desk and they sent the maintenance person up. He came about 30 min later and examined the heater. He told us that the room was large and that was why it might take some time to heat the room. So he suggested that we turn on the room fan to circulate the air. Great suggestion genius, it only made the room colder. Well we were a little fed up with everything by this point, and so we just wanted to go to bed. We went to bed around 11 but awoke at 1:30 because it got so cold. Finally it was too unbearable so we called down to the front desk at 4:20 in the morning and informed the girl that the room was cold so I asked if they had a portable heater or room change, she said that there was no portable heater and a room change would not be possible. We were patient and just endured it. So it was morning and we were ready to checkout so we went to the front desk and informed them of how cold the room was. Their reaction was like what was I trying to pull, instead of trying to be good customer service. So I told them to check their records of my call log because I had informed the person from the night to write a note about the room, fortunately someone was doing their job. The manager asked what would make me satisfied so I asked him what he thinks is acceptable? And his response was that he would not know because it has never happened to him. We were upset so I just told him that I wanted the room comped. He said that he will speak with maintance person and verify my story and then make a decision on the credit. He promised to contact me but no one from the resort ever did. I received a call two days later and they informed me that they will comp the room. We thought that would be the end of that horrible weekend but that was not the case. I just check my bank statement a found that they charged for the room. The story continues... WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT AT ALL!!!

It's alright!!
By Sam, 09/02/05
I took my parents there for our Vacation. The hotel is pretty nice but has a lonely feeling to it. The room is quite big and clean. The staffs was friendly. The spa is cozy, tranquil. The problem is I SPECIFICLY REQUESTED a FEMALE therapist for my mom. One the therapist shown up, there was a MALE therapist!!!!! My mom felt bad to send him back. She said it wasn't his fault. He didn't know and was so ready to do his job. Fortunately, it turn out fine. He was excellent. Overall, there is nothing outstanding and impressed me. it is ALRIGHT!!!

Great Weekend Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/05
We went to Vail Cascade for an anniversary weekend away. The room was clean...staff was friendly...no problems at all. I requested a bottle of champagne in the room to surprise my spouse and add a festive touch. It was not in the room waiting as requested, but arrived shortly after we did, without having to call on it. The spa was one of the best I've ever experienced. The atmosphere was relaxing and service-oriented. The onsite restaurant was spendy, but no complaints there either. Food and service met our expectations. Nothing extra-ordinary, but definitely worth the trip.
