Avoid this Motel!
I generally don't write negative reviews, but this place deserves it. We initially booked the room through Priceline for 1 week - paid for in advance. We called them to request a smoking room, and the receptionist said that he noted the request. No problem. When we arrived, they said that they had us in a non-smoking room. That was only the first problem (which they did resolve). The first morning, we received a call from the front desk asking us what time we would be checking out. The second morning, housekeeping asked what time we would be checking out, as they showed that we were leaving that morning. The third morning, despite having "do not disturb" signs on the door, the maintenance man knocked and requested to come in because someone had reported a safety problem. He then discovered that he went to the wrong room. On the fourth morning, housekeeping showed that we had checked out (though we were still paid through two more days!) On the evening of the 6th day (what was initially going to be our last day here), the housekeeper cleaned the room but neglected to close the door when she was done - we were rather surprised (understatement) to come back that evening to find our door propped open with all of our belongings inside. We complained and the manager called the owner, then called us back and apologized and said the owner would "comp" us a free night. We then extended our stay with the Ramada - after discussing with the owner and manager, they said they would honor the same room rate as we had with Priceline. However, when we finally checked out, not only were there problems with the room rate - only one night was at the Priceline rate, the 4 subsequent nights were at the full rate), but they refused to honor the night that was supposedly “comped.” In fact, the owner told the desk clerk (while we were standing right there - he never even looked in our direction) that since we were getting a discounted rate, he would not agree to comping the night. However, he was the same person who had offered the comp night in the first place!
Housekeeping was substandard - dirty towels were removed but clean towels were not put in their place, and despite requesting maid service, it did not look as if our room was vacuumed even once in 12 days. Our room was only sporadically re-supplied. Staff would be disciplined right out in the hallway in front of guests - very unprofessional.
We think that the management would want to leave a positive impression of their place with their guests, but it was obvious that the owner in this case could care less about guest satisfaction. This motel has some serious problems with both communication and credibility. It did not make us feel welcome when every day, we were asked when we were going to be leaving, even after we had pre-paid for the stay. And promising us a free night only to reneg on it at check-out was very poor form indeed. Who cares how nice the rooms are when one is confronted with incompetence every day? If you go to Grand Junction and want to enjoy your stay there, avoid this motel like the plague!
