Great Divide Lodge, Breckenridge

First, I`m sorry for my english. I`m a foreigner. I made my reservation for this hotel GREAT DIVIDE LODGE - BRENCKENRIDGE, believing it was a nice place as I heard from the travel agency Mountain Reservations. As I was going with my family to spend Christmas night, I paid the maximum price to have the nicest room available at the hotel. I paid in advance of 3 months. Some weeks before going, I checked the price was much less than what I had paid. It hapened also with my sister in law, they complained and for that reason got free breakfast. When I checked in, they promised and WROTE that I would have free breakfast as well for all my family. We arrived from a long trip at 1am, everybody very tired, included my two sons(6 and 8 years old). They gave me the keys. Very far to get to the room. We got there finally. What was my surprise?! They gave me one of the worst room available. Small and in front of a small bulding`s roof. Our view was that roof and the size of the room was completely diferent of what I saw on the pictures. I went to the front desk, they gave me two other options. Checked both(remember, every body were very tired in the room, waiting). I choosed one that was bigger than the first with a nicer view but was not yet what I had paid. There explanation: The best rooms are ocupied. How can? I had paid for that! !!!!Sorry, they said!!!!Nothing else I can do. On the other night, I realized that everyone in my family were suffering with the HIGH pillows. I asked fot thinner pillows and was not attended. I went to the front desk on the other day. Simply the attendant told me that they didn`t have and woudn`t consider my complaining because they wouldn`t provide another kind of pillow. Only one guest was complaining( me!). They were ironic with me. I went to downtown to buy thinner pilows to my family. I didn`t find any store selling pillows. Came back, complained again and nothing was made. We had to sleep with towels twisted on the last 2 days of sataying as we all had headacke with the pillows!! Some staff were nice, some others were just terribles and desrespected. Renting the skies at the hotel, the contract is about 5 pages. When I returned the skis I requested a receipt showing we had returned on time and in perfect conditions. The manager came and explained they don`t have any kind of receipt. We just have to trust on them without anything wroten. I said it was ok but if they complained in months ahead that I didn`t returned, how could I protect my self? He said, besides their colegues smilling: I CAN DRAW A HAPPY FACE AND GIVE TO YOU!! Everybody laughined of that, and I felt very disapointed. At the check-out, my surprise. They didn`t HONOR WHAT THEY HAD WRITTEN. They CHARGED the breakfasts and wouldn`t give free as they promised. The manager said that they just would not consider their offer . What else can I say after all I said here? Try another hotel LESS STINKING and if you go to this one, BRING YOUR PILLOWS!!

We had a wonderful experience at Great Divide Lodge. The rooms were very large with comfortable beds. My children had a lot of space to put their stuff. The location is great. It is just 50 feet from Peak 9. Everyone at this hotel was wonderful. The prices per night was great for a family of 5. We rented ski equpiment here. The wait time was long but they were very nice. This was our first time skiing and to CO. We had an amazing time. I would recommend this place to anyone. We hope to return again. The only disadvantage I can think of is parking with a luggage rack. We had to park outside and it was a tight fit. There is no microwave in your room to reheat food. The pool was cold but the hot tubs were great. The dine in was just average. I was hoping for more variety of food.

This place really has it going on. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were very attentive. There was a complimentary shuttle that took you anywhere you would like to go in town. Although that is not always necessary due to the location of the lodge. It was only a couple of blocks away from Main St. I would definitely stay there again. They TRULY impressed me.

My husband and I liked the resort because of it's location to the Breckenridge mountain. There is a very short walk to the lift @ peak 9. The hotel is clean. The rooms are very spacious. Hot water in the shower, with great water pressure. The hotel and an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. The restaurant, called, Breck's Lounge, offers a full bar, and good food. Breckfast, lunch and dinner. The lodge is very reasonable priced. The staff was very friendly and kind. They also have a concierge desk, which was very helpful. Each room has an appartment size refrigerator, and an electric coffee pot. No microwaves or ovens. The seventh floor has rooms available for quests who are traveling with their dog(s). No odors noted. Free internet service in a room off the main lobby. We had a very nice time.

The hotel is good for skiiers with average demands - very close to peak 9 lift, ski rental / storage station inside the hotel. They have only one employee for storage / bell boy service, so you need to wait to store your ski. The service is VERY average. At 3:55pm we called to order dine in and were told that dine in service starts from 4pm. We also asked if it will be possible to check out later than 11am - 3 representatives gave us 3 different answers. Eventually, I had to argue to get check out at 1pm. Bar is lousy - no good selection of drinks available. 10min walking distance from historic Main str, which is OK unless it is extremely cold outside. To get to the rooms on 8+ floor, you need to switch 2 elevators, which is not convenient

This was our first time in Breckenridge. The staff at this hotel was very pleasant, they even drove us to various locations within the city at no additional charge. The pool and hot tubs were great! The only disappointment was the dining room service and food quality. We are now planning our 2007 trip to this location.

An ok place to stay. Furnishings are older, showing some wear. Rooms are large and spacious. Had problems checking in, they did not have the right dates on the reservation, had to show my online confirmation with correct dates. Parking garage is very dirty, gets your luggage dusty as you unload.

The Great Divide offered a clean room close to the slopes. Make sure you are on the 6th floor or lower -- or you have to transfer elevators. Also, look out for a $12 a day parking fee. That being said--the hotel is great for families and for active skiers. The lift is less than 100 yards (Across a parking lot) away. The staff is great and helpful. They have a free shuttle to take you anywhere in town--and pick you up. A free ski check in/out benefit. The staff, while college kids, know the town. They tell you where the good snow is, where to go eat etc. The hotel was very convenient. I would go back and stay there.

Had a good holiday in this 3 star hotel. Been there Feb 2005 for 8 nights. Great breakfast and good parkplace... Very near the slopes.

The poor service was almost comical. Wake-up calls were a joke (why even pretend to offer them?). The front desk was understaffed and could seldom be reached by telephone. Moreover they were poorly trained, seemingly high-school level staff who addressed requests with "uh..um..." and "okay dude". There were a few positive exceptions. Room was average, small, but probably par for the location. Next time I'll probably stay in Silverthorne for half the price and twice the room and drive the 10-15 minutes to the 4 mountains.
