Bedbugs In Bed
We've stayed at the Tropicana a few times with no problems. Our stay in Nov. 2009 was a disaster. The first night I woke up in the middle of the night with bugs on my pillow! Yes, real live bugs. Needless to say, I jumped out of bed and called the lobby. An employee came down, witnessed the bug infestation, and moved us to another room. We had to separate any of our clothes we thought might be contaminated, take showers and wash hair immediately, tried to sleep but had to leave the lights on for fear of another bug infestation in the new room. What a disaster, and your worst nightmare in a hotel. Never heard from any employee, including the manager, about what had happened. When we checked out the clerk offered us $30.00 for our trouble, I refused. They ended up giving us one night free, after practically begging. No compassion at all. I've since googled bedbugs, and that's what they looked like and I believe they were. For fear of bringing them home our luggage went straight to our backyard, everything that could be washed was washed, suitcase went into the trash, and so did the pajamas I was wearing on that fateful night. Now, I know things happen and it was not necessarily anyone's fault, but, where was an apology? I had to call the manager when I got home. She never made the effort to contact me. I was totally put off with the way this was handled by the hotel. This is a Disney Good Neighbor hotel, but don't count on Disney to do anything about it. Although Disney is nice, and willing to listen, there seems to be no recourse through them. They let their name be used, but that's where their responsibility ends. So, my only recourse is to let as many people know about this excperience as I can.
