Ramada Merced, Merced

We stayed just a couple hours and checked out. This hotel did not feel safe. Entry ways to all buildings were unlocked (including the ones not visible from the front desk) and mostly propped open, despite the summer heat. People were drinking in the parking lot when we returned from dinner, and we were hit up for money by a homeless person. There was a shoe print on the wall of our bathroom. The toilet lid did not stay up, as there was a shelf in the way. Remote control did not work (others were in the lobby with the same complaint). AC was not great. Our non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke. Unfortunately, we prepaid for this hotel, which I won't do again. The Holiday Inn Express next door was considerably nicer, with card key-only access except through the front desk.

I have to disagree with all the whiners. The Ramada is an older building so it has to have it's defeciencies. The rooms are always clean and fresh. The beds are very comfortable, i never want to get up in the morning. Their continental breakfast is the best. They have many great and fresh choices. I love this place and the young woman with the green eyes is very polite and funny. I recommend this place and I give it 5 stars.

The room was clean, but it was 96 degrees today and we have had reservations for a few weeks and to find the room so very hot!!! No one thought to cool the room down? Also it is advertised that they have a hot tub (for those of us that ride motorcycles that makes for a nice days end unwinding and something I always look specifically for) and they do NOT! There are few occupancies yet they manage to put us right next to someone else so we can enjoy the shaking of the floor as they go up and down the stairs all night. TV remote only works channel down. Light burnt out of lamp on side of bed, so either do some switching of bulbs or forget reading in bed.

My stay was great. The room was really nice it must have been updated since the pictures I saw in this site. The bedding was nice and clean the bed was very comfotable. When I walked in it was very spacious. The tile was nice the lighting in the vanity area was grate. The restroom was very clean and the towels emaculate and soft. The room included a small refrigurator, a microwave, and coffe pot. The staff was nice and hospitable. It was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast was good as well. Fresh every morning. I would stay their again.

The clerk rented a room to a large young crowd who continued to "party" from 4am-5:30am, i.e., loud music, yelling, etc. Three calls were made to the desk. NO ACTION! After I decided to leave, clerk offered to put me in a suite. Ironic, remove the complainer, not the problem? Since then, sent email and correspondence to management. Still no reponse. Just be weary of small cities where people need a "room" to party and the hotels are willing to accomadate at the expense of travellers.

This Suite is very spacious. I was shocked at how nice it was. The Jacuzzi in the room was a great delight. My husband and I come to this hotel every year for our anniversary. This is by far the best room. The staff is also pleasing and very helpful. We will be returning again next year.
