Not a place to stay
By J, 9/7/09
Amenities and physical upkeep does not warrant the 169.00 fee. Wallpaper peeling in rooms, bathtub and sink did not drain well, ice machines did not work (informed desk but they were not serviced), jacuzzi did not heat up, grass around pool is dead, first floor windows would barely stay locked, continental breakfast was cheap, horrible and unsanitary (trash was not emptied and was allowed to overflow and be put on counter. Employee walked by it several times, picked up trash on counter but that was all. Milk and juices had to be poured from gallon jugs (adults and children as well) cereal had to be scooped out of container with metal scoop. (clean and dirty hands alike using this. What about the H1N1 virus?) toasters almost unusable (contiually threw breaker switches) Overall, a terrible place. Motel 6 would have been as good and at half the price. One of the worst places I've stayed. Not recommended.

Great budget hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/09
Great hotel for anyone watching their budget. We have been here many times before and it was starting to get run down. looks like they are starting to update, paint and fix up the rooms, the hotel is now looking much better. If I were the complainers I would give it another chance.

Perfect for a inexpensive place to sleep
By CW, 11/11/08
Very friendly and helpful. Sure it is not the Ritz - but for 99 dollars it sure beat driving home after a great day of wine tasting. I would go again and like it.

Don't stop - keep driving!
By MarshallL, 7/30/07
If this place has been remodeled in the last 20 years, I would be shocked. The rooms were dark and dingy, the bathrooms had incomplete repairs and mildew covered tiles and the walls had torn wallpaper. Did I mention the torn bedspread? One visit to the breakfast room and I lost my appetite. My wife says it might be OK if you were on a tight budget. I'm not sure I would recommend a stay under even those circumstances.

We liked it!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/07
So for $90 a night, what do you want? It was clean and very convenient, and the desk clerk was really friendly and helpful. Once in a while a train would go by blowing its whistle, but the mariachi music from the very fine cantina next door more than made up for it. We thought it was very clean, the internet was free and the complementary breakfast in the morning was abundant. I'd stay here again, and spend my money on the wine and spas!!!

Don't waste your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/06
My parents stayed at this hotel years ago when there were different owners and they really liked it. Since then, the hotel has changed hands and it has been a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! When we arrived after having been driving for 6 hours, well after check in time, our room was not ready. We had to wait a long time to get keys to another room. The TV in our room did not work and though they sent a handy man to look at it, all he did was it wiggle the wires a bit and left, so the static problem we originally complained about persisted. That night, the cable went out completely and we reported it expecting it would be resolved in the morning, but of course, it was not. When we called, they said they were working on it, but that it would take "a long time." The only person that seems to be consistantly at the front desk is a trainee, who only apologizes when we tell her our issues, but reminds us that since she is a trainee, all she can do is to pass the message along. We read these reviews and saw one for 4 out of 5 stars. I can only imagine that the person who wrote that review either owns or works for the hotel, because it could not have been more inaccurate. It really is a shame that this hotel has gone downhill so much, but hopefully, you will not make the same mistake we did. It really put a damper on our romantic vacation in Napa. In addition to everything already stated, the hotel rates here are high, and do not reflect what one would expect for the amount paid. The beds were old and not comfortable. We will never come back here again and will warn all of our family and friends about THE CHATEAU.

Unsleepable beds, dirty, yuck!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/05
The room was over priced ($300 a night). Three of my girlfriends and I stayed and reserved a "suite" for one night. The pull out sofa bed was horrible and when we complained, the manager informed us that it wasn't for sleeping on (even though we paid extra for each person because we had four people in the suite). The bathroom had mold on the tile and the kitchenette sink smelled like rotting garbage. Do not stay at this hotel - it's terrible.

When everything else is booked...
By Tina, 8/1/05
This hotel has had more money spent on the outside (the picture sure looks good) than has been put into all of the rooms combined for the last 20 years. It was extremely overpriced for what we got. The showers had mold, the carpets were dirty, some of the lights did not work, and they found the cheapest paper products possible. If you really want to stay in Napa and everything else is booked, go ahead. Other than that, you can do much better for your money.
