Description

WELCOME TO THE SUNSET TOWER HOTEL, WHERE OLD HOLLYWOOD BECOMES NEW. Newly renovated, this landmark 15-story building was designed by architect Leland Bryant in 1929, serving as a residence for everyone from Errol Flynn, Claudette Colbert, John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Howard Hughes. With its chic restaurant, fabulous spa, and unrivaled views of Los Angeles, the exceptional environment of the Sunset Tower Hotel offers its guests every comfort and amenity. Originally called the Sunset Tower and built as a distinctly Hollywood version of Art Deco, the hotel is now equipped with the latest electronic conveniences, providing the ultimate in privacy and elegance. Rooms range from standard rooms, spacious suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and limestone bathrooms, to spectacular penthouses with separate living and boudoir areas, wraparound terraces, and deep soaking tubs. These superb accommodations come with stylish custom fittings, romantic lighting, and artworks, creating a subtly luxurious feeling. The Sunset Tower is a Hollywood landmark--up to the 1950s it was as much a tourist attraction as the Hollywood sign itself. It has appeared in a number of films, including The Italian Job, Get Shorty, The Player and Strange Days. Its first literary mention was in Raymond Chandler

I travel as part of my job. Generally I try to stay in nice hotels because I am going to be there for a week at a time and I want to be pampered. The Sunset Tower was in a perfect location for me and looked very nice. It even came highly recommended. Over the years I have dealt with some of the nicest and some of the worst hotel personnel imaginable. The people at the Sunset Tower rank as the worst I have seen in many years. They are the type you might expect in a Motel 6, not a 4 star hotel. I had a simple problem with the cleaning of my room and after noting it the first night it was not handled by the housekeeper. After I asked about it again on the second day of my stay and it was still not handled, I asked to talk to the head of housekeeping. A woman named Vera Meserve (sp?) called my room while I was out. When I called her back later that day, she said "my staff would never act that way" and then when I tried to explain further she said "whatever" and hung up on me. I called the switchboard and asked for the Hotel Manager. I was transferred to the executive offices and again asked to speak to the Hotel Manager. The woman who answered, Naomi?, the secretary I believe, said she was not at liberty to give me the Hotel Managers name and would I care to leave a message. I told her what had happened and she said that she would pass it along to the Hotel Manager and that once he investigated the matter, if he felt it was a worthwhile complaint he would get back with me. I stayed at the Sunset Tower two additional days and I never heard from him. For $300 per night this was not the level of service and accommodation I was expecting. It is one thing to have one employee who is makes a mistake and then fixes it or even one employee who is rude, we all have bad days, but to have a culture built on rude behavior from top to bottom is outrageous to me. It took me two months to calm down enough to write this review. Suffice to say I will never stay in that hotel again and neither will any of my employees

Loud music and poor service.
By ,
If you want to stay up all night long listening to loud music from events stay at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. I made the mistake of staying there once and I will never do it again! They played loud music every night I was there, I called the front desk asking them to turn down the music and I was told the "event" would be done in an hour I should just wait! What poor service! Never again!

A Fabulous Stay
By ,
My wife and I just returned to Connecticut after a three-day stay at the Sunset Tower while we visited our daughter. It was wonderful in every way. Our room was elegant and quiet (we were given a free upgrade), the staff was friendly and very professional, the Terrace was the perfect California setting for breakfast and lunch, and the location was perfect for our purposes. We will definitely go back.

An excellent stay.
By ,
Didn't have any problems, the price was affordable considering the other options in town, and the service was friendly. Overall, a good experience and I can say that next time I am in town I will be staying here again.

The sun was shining at Sunset Tower
I have just come back from a 4 night stay at the Sunset Tower hotel with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and were so knowlegable in the local area. The hotel has a great ambience. It manages to mix old school feeling glamour with modern. The views from the pool area across LA were just stunning. The rooms were immaculate and I loved the fresh cookies that were delivered to our room each night...yum!! As first time visitors to LA- the hotel was in a perfect location. It was close by to the Hollywood attractions such as the Kodak theatre and the hotel offered a comp town car service and dropped up off there. There were shops and restuarants within a strolling distance and some great bars nearby. We ate in the hotel and had a great meal. Fantastic food with my partner saying it was the best steak he'd ever had...which is a pretty big call. Overall an excellent stay in a hotel to wich I'd defintely return!
