Experience a piece of history
The Sainte Claire is a National Historic Site, which there aren't very many of those in San Jose, especially not one you can spend the night in. The location of the hotel is perfect, within walking distance to places such as Original Joe's and Cesar Chavez park. The architechture is really nice; the hotel was restored back to its original 1926 glory when it first opened. Built by TS Montgomery, it was the crown jewel of the South Bay for many years. The bathrooms have some nice tile work, and the top floor windows have really interesting archway designs. The AC in our room didn't seem to work too well, but it was a hot day. Other than that, it was fun to walk around and admire the classic design of the hotel. Try to get a room on the sixth floor facing Cesar Chavez park-the light rail is noisy but the view rocks.
