30 reviews for Ramada Inn Maingate, Anaheim
Stayed there two times-It's not bad!
By , 03/19/09
We stayed there twice. The first time was better than the second. The second time our refrigerator made annoying noise all the time, our shower and sink didn't drain, and sometimes the key didn't open the door. Otherwise we like it!

Great Experience at Ramada Maingate!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/08
We were completely happy with the Ramada Maingate. We were a little weary before we went, because the price was a lot less than some of the other hotels near Disneyland Resort. We paid $119/night, and for a family of five, that's a great deal. Our room was perfect, with two queen beds and a roll-a-way which was in our room when we entered; I was expecting we'd have to call the front desk to remind them, but no! Check in was fast and easy. We were just a block away from the crosswalk to get to Disneyland. Also, we were near quite a few restaurants, which was not what we expected. We made great use of the "healthier options" at McDonalds, our kids ate for free (2 of the 3) at IHOP, and we enjoyed ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery one night. There were lots more options that we didn't even have time to try. The breakfast was limited, but fine for our needs. Our kids had either cereal or a danish, juice and toast. The pool is right next to the breakfast room so many people grabbed their food and then headed for a table on the pool deck. The pool was great! 8 feet at its deepest which was perfect for diving and jumping and just wonderful for our kids. We made good use of the hot tub, too. The tables were clean and the towels always available for use at the pool. We were in a room on the bottom floor, and we heard no noise at night; we slept like babies. The air conditioning unit worked great, so we were set! All in all, we loved the Ramada Maingate and we decided the first day (out of five) that we'd return to stay there in a heartbeat.

Excellent! WILL return again.
By D, 06/19/08
Let's start with the Positive: 1-Ask for the 3rd floor in the back. Our room was recently redone and OMG impressive. Very large room with King sized bed. New comforter, curtains, linens, even the towels looked brand new. 2- Carpet passed the white sock test with flyng colors. 3-It was 90+ and the air cond worked like a charm! It was loud, but hello, it's a window conditioner... Sounded liked like every other hotel's. 4-There was a brand new love seat sofa sleeper for our 9 year old. Perfect size for him and this thing was - brand new... Typical sofa sleeper mattress. But again - kids 9, he could sleep on the floor and not care after 12 hours at Disneyland... 5-Shower with tub.. (Bring bathbeads for your tired body after walking all day at the parks.) It was spotless. All redone, new everything. Plenty of water pressure for a long hot shower and bath. 5-We booked directly through hotel with AAA discount. Room was like $118. This is pretty cheap. I mean this place is right across from Disneyland. No shuttle needed... Free parking. 6-Cont Breakfast. I am not sure what the whinners are expecting... It's free. Instead of thinking postive, seems people just need to complain.. You want eggs and bacon, go to Denny's. It's a 2 minute walk. 7-Pool is a bit small, but has really cute design and ideal for familes with young kids. Negative - 1-Our confirmation was for 2 full beds. So, when we got to our room and saw the king, we were a bit upset. When we complained, they were quick to offer us many options.. There was the pullout bed, so they offered us $20 off the room rate. Or, would move us to another with the 2 beds. We opted to stay and take the discount. So not really a complaint.. LOL 2-Birds. Yes, there are birds. I heard them a little bit, churping... But we were so tired, we pretty much crashed. Not sure how this is the hotels problems. I mean seriously... 3-Construction. Yes, they are remodeling the entire 4th floor. SO - yes during the day there was some hammering, we heard the saw and this went on until about 8pm. We talked to the workers and they stated they started about 9am. So again - This really wasn't an issue. We were at this hotel specifically to visit the parks. We were up by 9am and except for a rest from the heat, was at the parks until midnight.... People complain about the noise, yet want the rooms refurbished... 4-Early check in. There isn't any early check in. Again, not really a complaint. Their check in and out is clearly stated. Early is a perk. 99% of the people are traveing just like you. They will hold your luggage and you can park your car. Overall- I can only comment on room 332 and our stay. It was awesome. In fact I was having serious heat issues and the young clerk was awesome. She played a great nurse and bent the rules and let us in our room early. They called to check up on me and to insure the room was satisifactory. If you have small kids who need a nap.. Turn the tv on or specifically ask for a room on the left and right side. Only the back section has the 4 floors. We will be back and will choose this hotel. We have annual passes and go all year long. For the price, this hotel was ideal.

We'll be back!
By Cindy H, 04/20/08
We arrived early and it was very hot and we all need to to use a restroom after our long ride into town. The staff was great! our room was still being prepared so they gave us keys to use the property restrooms & also let us use the swimming pool till our room was ready. Which was ready a half hour before check in time it was great. the kids love the pool it has lots of shade. there are food shops in area around hotel. Disneyland is 1/2 block across the street if that! coffee shop could be better took to long to get a cup of hot coco and not tasty. Dennys a driveway over on the same street, service was fast and good food, And we went all hours and service was great everytime! Ihop also very good, my family gave both resturants good reviews. And theres a target about 5min.drive down the street. we stayed 5 days.loved it!

Will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/08
In my 54 years on this earth and staying in hundreds of hotels in my lifetime...the Ramada Maingate in Anaheim was the WORST hotel experience I've ever had. The room was dirty and smelled like mildew. The birds in the palm trees chirped and sang their hearts out ALL NIGHT LONG so that we got very little sleep. The hot and cold knobs in the bathroom and shower were reversed. Our beds went unmade for our entire stay. It is close to Disneyland..I'll give it that. STAY AWAY from this hotel.

Don't stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/08
I have to admitt the location was pretty good. Some of the front desk help was good, but when it came to needing towels their service was terrible. I called down there after the maids had even been there (they didn't leave new towels) they said that someone would be right up. I even waited up unitl midnight and They never came! So we had to use our old towels Talk about GROSS!!! Not to mention the carpet was really dirty! It was like the maids never vacuumed. The making of the beds looked like a child made it. We had a terrible view the elevator and a wall! The pool wasn't that great either. It was very noisy everytime we wanted to use it after park hours there were a lot of kids running around and splashing etc. This was the worst place I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot of hotels around the Disneyland area. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not even my worse enemy! Their Free breakfast was pretty poor I guess you ask for what you get for being free! Okay so the outside looks pretty updated and a little remodeled, but the rooms by any means have not been. They seriously need to redue something... even their maid service. I really hope this helps anyone who is thinking about staying here. If you like poor service... that is what you will get here! So think twice about staying here! GOOD LUCK!

Great Location, nice people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/07
Our family, two adults and four children (six years old and younger), stayed in this hotel during the October 2007 fires because we were evacuated from our home. We decided to make the best of our situation and head to D-lnad since we are season pass holders. Upon arrival, the customer service people were very friendly and took into account our situation and offered us a room at a discount. We found our room to be comfortable with a refrigerator, microwave, two twin beds and two full beds and still have room for a porta-crib. It wasn't the cleanest or most up-to-date hotel we have ever stayed in but I would return because economically it was great and within walking distance to D-lands entrance. They have a large pool and the pizza place has really good pizza by-the-slice. Also, I felt our family was safe here. Our door had the proper locks and everything outdoors was lit well.

YAY!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/07
I already was loving this hotel before we landed, and I was quite excited. Everything was great, they had a walk up pizza by slice to go, 3 gift shops, coffee break corner, photo center, Jewlery shop, and a travelers corner as well. We got there before check-in, but we walked around and got a view of everything. Funny thing was, that I pointed to the back corner with the 4 stories high, and hoped we had one of the rooms there, and when we got our room situated, we ended up with a room where I even hoped. Talk about luck! Clean room, microwave, fridge, luxury! Thank you ramada maingate! I really can't wait to come back!Probably after I have children though! :-P

We Keep Returning.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/07
Every year my kids celebrate their birthday at Disneyland. Two times a year we stay at the Ramada Inn Main Gate and enjoy the swimming pool, breakfast and clean rooms. We continue to return every year. It's been our tradition for 5 years now.

DON'T STAY THERE!!! THEY DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/07
I called the 800 number to reserve a room and was confirmed with a confirmation and the rate. I drove from out of state with my family, thinking everything is all right. When I arrived, they couldn't find my reservation number. They told me that they make many mistakes and it probably the Ramada Inn down the street. By the way, they weren't that friendly to us. It seems as if we were the one who make the mistake. So we drove down the street and was told to pay $30.00 more than what we reserved the room for. Plus, we have to pay $3 per person to transport to Disneyland. I tried to explain nicely to the receptionist and she said she couldn't do anything about it. So we were so mad at the whole experience we found another place instead. The final insult is that we were promised by the receptionist to cancel all charges, but we were charged anyway. Ramada doesn't want my business, they don't really care about what customer think. They employees they have are not very friendly. Don't make the mistake like I did to find out you won't have a room when you get there.
