Great location, great hosts, a good value
By Jo, 2/29/12
One of the cleanest motels we have ever stayed in, very nice management, helpful always, and the free parking is such a plus in the area. It's not a "fancy" place, but totally comfortable. We stayed for 5 nites, and would certainly go back to the Redwood Inn! So nice to be able to walk to the Wharf and Embarcadero, and easy drives to other places we wanted to "do"

Will definitely return on my next visit to SF
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/09
Very helpful and very nice people at the desk, quite a treat when compared with staff at other hotels I stayed at - Reasonable rate - Clean room & bathroom - Perfect location for a touristic visit to the city of San Francisco. Will definitely stay there again.

When in San Francisco, We love
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
When in San Francisco, We love to stay at the redwood inn. The staff is excellent, very considerate as far as being sure the other occupants are considerate of others. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are very clean. The rates overall can't be beat.

what's bad story
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/06
I spent there one night, sept 02, with my wife, but I realised just few weeks later what we were done. I was told that I'd have been charged 40$ more for caution and I'll have got my money back at the checking out, after giving back the room's key. I was than charged 159 $ at the checking in. The day after, at the checking out, I was given a new receipt for 120$ and I supposed everything was correct. When I've finally received the credit card account beginning this month, I find out that I've been charged 159$, instead of 120$. I tried to get a solution by phone several times, but I couldn't. I've also written 3 emails to the Director, but I've never got a reply with some explanation ! very bad story, Roberto Ranalli, Italy

pleasant stay in san francisco
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/06
We have been in his motel in juni 2005 and we had a convient stay here. The manager was a very nice person who helped us with several things we wanted to know. We return to san francisco in mau 2007 and we certainly are going to sty in the redwood inn. Robert Franssen, The Netherlands, Europe.

My best experience ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/06
Need some more words ... :-) Saturday night, looking for a place to stay (canceled our booked hotel because it was awful!), found the Redwood Inn, but - of course - no more rooms! Went back to the car to continue the search, but the engine didn't make a sound. Wonderful!! I went back in to ask if I could use the phone to call Alamo (where we had rent our car), but the manager did that for me. Because we had to wait a while he offered us to go upstairs and take a short rest and to have a coffee - for free! After a while he called us and told us that the Alamo service-man has arrived. I went down and after some minutes the service-man found out that the battery hasn't been charged (a loose cable). He started the car with an external battery and told us that the car should run at least for half an hour before we could drive safely. So I waited - in the meantime completely frustrated - at the car, quite sure that this will be the worst weekend I ever had. And just befor I wanted to leave the manager came out and told me that a guest hasn't arrived yet and probably won't come. "If you still want you can have his room." Of course I wanted! :-) Thanks again for changing that bad day into a wonderful weekend!

taken advatage of...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/06
Stayed at this hotel over the Memorial weekend and was charged $135 per night and was told they had a two night policy...yet many people left the next day. Yes the staff wre friendly, but the room is very basic and the water is not hot.....if we had have been charged the correct amount and not been taken advantage of, it would have been o.k. We had just flown in from staying in New York a very good hotel in the upper east side with a huge bedroom, living room, the works and it was no more expensive than the Redwood Inn..once again it is wrong for the motel owner to take advantage of a situation like the long weekend...Rodney Hunt from Australia

I recommended it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/06
A good experience in this hotel , it`s location is central you take like 15 minutes walking to fisherman`s Wharf , the neighborhood is quite calm , if you need a laundry you have it in the hotel also they give donuts for breakfast , the rooms are spacious and they are clean. The attendeance is quite good ,I stay in holly week and the prices were acceptable.

Stayed here with family in July for four nights. Very friendly family run motel, parking included, so great if you are driving in. Close as you need to be to the centre - almost at the foot of Russian Hill and the crookedy stretch of Lombard St. 10mins walk from Fisherman's Wharf or the Marina

Redwood Inn is the Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/05
This Inn is the nicest, cleanest and well maintained place I have every been in and I travel over a 100 nights per year. All the staff was extremely friendly and most pleasant. The room was real clean. Plenty of parking and it is enclosed parking which is great. I know where I will stay when in San Francisco. You don't find a place like this very often.
