Newport Beach Marriott Hotel Spa, Newport Beach

Im from the east coast and could not believe the taxi service they have here. The drivers are dressed in ties and white shirts. Im used to a punjabi guy with beads hanging from his mirror. Outstanding taxi company use, kudos to staff. My driver spoke English and had the cab clean inside and out.

Me my wife and our 3 year old daughter stayed there three night and they were breath taken nights. This hotel is amazingly clean and very comfortable. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is mint and beautiful. The beds are very soft and comfortable (might be too soft for some people). Fashion Island is 5 minutes walk from the Hotel. The beach and Balbo Island are two miles away but are not within walking distance. Taxi Cost is $7-$9 one way. The beach is gorgeous and the nightlife at the beach is vey lively. Many restaurants around. We have been in many hotels and at different states but this one measures up and a top notch.

Brought the family on a 3 day business trip and stayed here for 2 nights. The conference rooms are nicely decorated and convenient to restrooms. The food that was served for breakfast, lunch, and the reception were very good (I don't know if it was catered or prepared at the restaurant. Even as a guest, I was charged $16/day/vehicle, which was a downer given what I paid for the room, but you do get in and out privileges. we had a double bed room. The beds and bedding were incredibly comfortable. After a long day, it was nice to crawl into them. The bathroom had marble countertops and a bathtub/shower combo. The room was clean and well appointed. I was impressed in this regard. However, I was disappointed that the walls were thin (could hear the person in the next room on her cell phone or could hear her TV, which wasn't on very loud). But I wasn't in the room much anyway. It's conveniently close to Fashion Island and the shops and restaurants there, as well as a short drive down to Newport Beach and Balboa Island. Service was better than average, it just depended who was staffing it (some newbie vs. seasoned help). I would stay there again for business.

I actually was planning to have my reception ,wedding here at the Marriott and wanted to have my family stay as well. We live not to far from this hotel and heard it was being renovated so it was more luxurious. Well you can make anything look a bit better but the staff will make this the most horrid hotel I have ever stayed in!!! I have stayed in hotels all over Laguna and Newport, but I wanted my wedding stay and reception to be special. They did everything possible to make it as unpleasant as possible. I have never had to fight with a hotel so hard in my life just to get all the stuff they promised me on my contract! Once I signed there contract it was all over! They didn't even contact me about arrangements until one week before my wedding. I had been calling and calling but always a voice mail so after leaving many messages I got upset. I called and demanded to speak to a human about 8 days before my wedding and finally received someone. Then they said they were sorry and said it would be great from that point on....NO! There wedding staff are just pointless. They are the rudest bunch of people I have ever spoken to so finally I went down there to get a different tone in person. It was a whole different situation in person. They are a lot more responsive when they can’t pawn you off on a voice mail then never call you back. My room was so yucky that we had the reception in and the food was awful! The hotel service was not much better but there was a very nice guy as the bartender who said he has seen others get treated like this a lot here at the Marriott. So please if you want a cheap room that is very, very small and expect to be treated like you are paying over $200 bucks a night then DO NOT stay here! The bed was nothing like the pictures and the room was so much different then described. I would suggest any other hotel I have stayed at around here before this one, even the cheaper ones. At least you will be getting better service!

the hotel was great. the room was great. the food was great. the pool was great. the service was great. i would stay there again.

I recently stayed at the Marriott for the first time after there BIG renovation and it was very nice. Some new additions are a Spa (said to be over 14,000 sq ft) when you have a spa treatment you can use the facilities all day, included is a salt water pool (18+ yrs old). They have changed the restaurant to Sam & Harry's Steakhouse, really good I think they are based out of DC. There is also a really nice lounge connected to the restaurant (cozy chairs and trendy). Other nightlife spots are a short cab ride away. They used to have a night club on the 16th floor called "The View Lounge" it's been closed (thankfully) no one who lived in Newport Beach really went to the lounge. Now the 16th floor has suites. Keep in mind all the rooms in the hotel dont have ocean views. But when you called reservations you can pay extra and have a wonderful view of Newport Beach (its worth it)!!!! Oh and I think the hotel was doing something special for the summer, they had night time movies by the pool on the weekends...the weekend I stayed the hotel played kids movies. The hotel has 3 pool; 2 are for all guest 1 is only for people who use the spa. Enjoy your stay, and again pay for the ocean view, its worth it!!

This is a very run down hotel which is undergoing renovation. Carpets are stained and the rooms are very worn. Staff are very good and are trying to make up for the condition of the hotel. Wait for the renovation.

The Marriott Hotel & Tennis Club is a very nice hotel with clean rooms and reasonable rates. It's located across the street from Fashion Island, so shops, restaurants, and movies are close by. And it's just minutes to South Coast Plaza, the beach, and the airport. Don't let the name fool you - this is not a resort. There is a tennis club associated with the hotel, but it's just a few tennis courts. It does include a gym, however, that is very nice and can be used by hotel guests.
