Courtyard by Marriott Marina Del Rey LAX, Marina del Rey

This is a fairly basic hotel, nothing that will stop you and wow you, however, i was in awe of how attentive the staff was and how quick they were to go out of their way to help me. Upgrades to my room, late check out, even a suggestion to move me to a bigger room just because? The best part, i payed a fraction of the going rate because i 'named my own price' on a priceline, which they knew and still were more than happy to help me. The location was great for me since i was shuffling back and forth to Santa Monica which was a short drive plus close to the freeways. I'm very happy and I will stay there again.

Did not process cancellation of double-booked reservation, resulting in over one thousand dollars charged to credit card on file. Building visibly appears to be one of the oldest and most run-down in an otherwise beautiful neighborhood. Room rates are not at all worth it. Whether short-term or long-term, it pays to look elsewhere. Nothing about this hotel will bring me back, including the overpriced buffet breakfast (breakfast not included in rate). Easily found a hotel closer to LAX which was luxurious and in an upscale building.

the hotel was great. the room was great. the food was great. the pool was great. the service was great. i would stay here again.

Pros: Very good staff, helpful. Great housekeeping. Breakfast buffet is excellent, great value if you can add it to the room rate (was only $10 for 2 adults and 1 child). Pool is very large, nice sunning area. All poolside rooms have balconies. Cons: Small rooms, terrible mattress. No refrigerator. Breakfast buffet $10/ person if not room rate special, kind of pricey. I've stayed in plenty of 60-100 hotels that were just as nice, and our rate in August was 190 per night. I guess it is the area, but the actual location isn't that great, no ocean or marina view even from 5th floor. Bring you own beverages! Overall: I would stay again if rate was better. Otherwise, I'd take my chances elsewhere, or pay more for one of the nicer places.

Stayed there in February, 2005 for 6 nights. My room was on a small side, but evrything else was satisfactory. They serve good breakfasts and plenty of eating places in the shopping area nearby. There is a nice heated pool nad jacuzzi. My only objection was $42 charge for 2 short telephone calls to Europe. I would stay there again.
