Description

With the nation's top mountain bike park and access to endless backcountry outside the front door, there is no comparison to the Mammoth Mountain Inn. An exclusive location at Mammoth Mountain's Main Lodge and Adventure Center makes this the only accommodation the adventure seeker needs. The nearest hotel that comes close to this kind of access is four miles down the mountain road. An in-hotel bar and restaurant provide -- hands-down -- the best views of Mammoth Mountain. Craftsman-style condominiums and hotel rooms provide easy mountain living at reasonable prices. In less than a minute walk from the hotel to the Scenic Gondola, climbing rock and zip line, hop on mountain bike trails and board shuttles to Reds Meadow, Devils Postpile and Yosemite National Park (summer activities mentioned are typically June through September). A Resort Fee of $20 per room per night will be charged by the hotel at the front desk. The Resort Fee covers unlimited Internet usage, local and 800 phone calls, Long Distance Connect, incoming/outgoing fax service, business center computer services, DVD movie rental, in room tea and coffee, game room and fitness room access, in-resort transportation and bike storage.

The worst experience I've ever had!
By Palia, 12/28/09
Booked through Priceline - and was given a SMALL SUB-STANDARD ROOM in a deserted section of the hotel AND later charged a $20 RESORT FEE (without informing me)! Priceline Customer Service rep says the resort fees are for amenities - water, electricity, phone(which I did not use), parking!! It is a HUGE SCAM. BEWARE! I will NEVER stay at this hotel again ..and would highly recommend that you don't either (if you are considering doing so).

Bonding with the mountain peace and quiet
By doggy, 11/29/08
No complaints. Hotel staff was great you treat them right and they will treat you right. Check in for me over 20 yrs has overall been great, food is great but the general store does not stay open late enough. Going up next week will give and updated review because I know you are all waiting to read what is.

Never going back
By judyla, 3/11/08
Had a two night stay in March 2008 and what a disappointment. The inn was more motel than hotel. Although the location could be a plus for some due to its proximity to the gondola, I found it too out of the way from where the Mammoth action really thrives in the after hours. The room was cramped with filthy bed spreads and room service did not bother to change glasses or restock coffee. Stayed in the east annex and found lugging my gear from the "unpaid" parking a huge inconvenience. The $28 reservation fee added to room rate seemed excessive for a two night stay. Next time I will opt for other accomodations and even consider a motel over this dive!!!

Wonderful in Summer too
By Eric, 7/16/07
I stayed here for 4 nights just before the 4th of July. I had read some reviews that gave me concern. Those reviews are wrong. The place was great. I arrived early on Friday, and they checked me right into my room, no waiting even though I was there at 9:30 in the morning. Room was nice. I was in the West Annex. Two queen beds. Nice furniture. Bathroom was fine, with nice soap and shampoo. Underground parking is there, though in the summer it's not necessary. With a location at 8,900 feet elevation, you're right there for mountain biking and hiking adventures. There's a gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain, over 11,000 feet in elevation. Mountain bikers are riding the gondola up and taking their mountain bikes on the many trails down the mountain. I hiked up the hiking trail, 5 miles up the mountain, with 2,000 feet in elevation gain, and took the gondola down. It was wonerful hike with great vistas and not crowded with hikers. Easy access to the village for food and supplies. Plus the shuttle that runs down to Devils Post Pile starts there at the Inn, so you have easy access to the trails in the Devils Post Pile area as well. I will definitely stay there again.

Disappointment in Mammoth!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/06
There was a string of mistakes made. The first was that they had lost our booking made in August through United Airlines. The put us in an inferior room for one night and then we had to move the next day. Fortunately, we did not trust them with our luggage because they made no effort to move it for us! It could have ended up anywhere. There was a distinct lack of knowledge about the job they were doing and about the area in which they were working. Information was not forthcoming on any subject. The rooms were cold and generally second rate for a relatively large amount of money. The only two staff in the week that we were there were a lad called Cory on the desk and a lady called Lesley in the Restaurant who managed to do their jobs correctly and with a certain amount of politeness and efficiency. My husband, who is a hotelier, was absolutely disgusted with the lack of management backup or training for the staff. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this hotel even though it has a prime position at the foot of the slopes!

They think they're the only game in town!
By AmericanPatriot, 2/5/06
Mammoth is a premier ski resort and the Inn's location can't be beat. That said, the rooms, though recently renovated, are more Motel than luxury and the service is often perfunctory. Particularly irksome was that when we arrived on a Thursday at 2:00 p.m. none of our rooms were ready. They say check in is 4 p.m.- but this seemed a bit absurd. Also- when we asked for a late check out (sunday- Superbowl Sunday- when few people are travelling up to a ski town) we were told it was doubtful. Particulalry snide was an Australian women at the front desk who seemed time and time again to do anything to make our stay less than pleasant. My room was in the Yodler annex- with a stunning view of a garage and dump-truck. Tiny room- not cleaned well. Next visit we'll stay in slope side condos. Better value and now hassles.

Perfect Location
By Brandi, 5/17/05
This was the perfect location for skiers & boarders, It is at the base of the mountain by the gondola. After a day on the mountain you can soak in one of four spa's. It was a very relaxing place to stay. The price was not too bad either, it include our lift tickets and hotel stay!!

Mammoth Resort Addict
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/05
The Mammoth Mt. Inn offers convenient ski in, ski out location in a luxurious mountain setting with gorgeous craftsman styling. The ski lift is literally steps from your room, as well as the heated pool, spa, Yoddler Bar, fine restaurant dining in hotel, and all the amenities a winter sports guru could ask for. Covered parking is available at no extra fee. They offer day care programs for young children that are interactive, and educational. You cannot beat the value of staying at this property, and putting yourself at ease during your vacation.
