Holiday Inn Express La Jolla, La Jolla

Need to clean under the beds too, trash was found under the bed when we arrived. The sofa and roll away beds need new mattresses. Other then that, we liked it and enjoyed the complementary breakfasts.

we did not like it because both the ceiling fan and a/c were noisy, stayed up all night.

This property has a great location -- the beach is only 2-3 blocks away, and from the walkway outside my third floor room I could clearly see the ocean. The room itself, though oddly configured, was spacious enough. There was very little sink space, but the towels were soft and thick. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast area was large, clean and well stocked. The hotel staff was very friendly. On the downside, the room was dimly lit and smelled a bit musty. All things considered, it was a pretty decent value, especially for a resort town.

Likes - Staff, Decor, location to LaJolla area and San Diego area. Dislikes - Road noise, very tight bathroom and sink area. Two people cannot prepare for the day at the same time. The sink area is so small you have to remove all your toiletries or makeup items so the next person and use the sink. This room accommodates one person very well, but not two. If you get the room for $130.00, it's worth it, but if not, there are other locations that offer a better value.

The rooms are outstanding! Found out that they just renovated and the beds and the showers are worth every dollar! Great customer service from everyone. It was a nice stay and will come back to this hotel again in La Jolla!!!

Upon our first night at this hotel, my fiance and I discovered FLEAS in the bed!! We shook off all our belongings and re-packed, spraying Lysol on all of our stuff, and when we went to the management office to complain the person on duty gave the impression that this had happened before! We checked out immediately and they gave us a full refund, and we were driving around San Diego at midnight looking for another hotel. Do not stay at this hotel - they have an obvious flea problem that they are not properly taking care of. And it's in La Jolla, one of the most expensive places to stay in Southern California - I can't believe they have a flea problem!!!

It was the best price that I could get and I was skeptical at first, but when we arrived, the person checking us in was probably the most enthusiastic and helpful person we had ever met! He was thorough, very helpful, and upbeat. There was a parking lot, which we never had any problems finding a space. Our room was very nice, clean, and they provided wonderful amenities like a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, plenty of towels, and shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc., and cable with HBO. There is no gym though, but I didn't really expect one given the price we paid for the room. The complimentary breakfast also surpised us. There was plenty! Boiled eggs, muffins, fruit, coffee and tea, milk, juice, cereal, danishes, bagels... We noticed families and couples staying there. I have to admit though, there are some families with many children that ran around but it wasn't an every day occurence. Also, we were not in our hotel all the time, so we didn't hear them all day, just in the morning. The hotel is also very close to the beach. You can walk it. It is a nice perk! It is also not that far of a drive to other sights, like the city or other beaches like Mission. The only one downside was that I kept noticing that my the bottom of my husband's feet were dirty. I kept thinking it was because we had gone to the beach. I looked at my feet.... also dirty. I think the carpet in the room was very dirty and maybe it needed some steam cleaning. I would suggest you bring slippers. But overall, for the price, it is a very good value. We would stay at another one again without hesitation.

Got a great deal at the Holiday Inn Express. As others have noted: *Close to the beach *Close to downtown Addtionally, the staff was really nice and very helpful. We stayed with our three kids and our in-laws in two neighboring rooms. The hotel is just finishing a remodel and the rooms are beautiful with new furniture, fixtures, paint and carpet -- 100% new! Our room overlooks a beautiful central courtyard with swimming pool through the room's lovely plantation shutters. The location is very central, but also very quiet. We compared prices to the hotel across the street and obtained a better room at a lower price. Extremely satisfied!

Granite countertops, a shower made of a solid inch-thick sheet of glass, a walk-in closet, and the most comfortable motel bed I have ever slept in make this a hands-down winner. Not to mention a big room with windows on both sides, a microwave and refrigerator, a free breakfast in the courtyard, and steps away from a beautiful [9' deep] pool. Very quiet, quaint neighborhood, too, that's literally across the street from Wind 'n' Sea Beach. Now I know why the hotel was giving away all those coupons to "come back after the renovation." This motel is totally worth the money -- wish we could have stayed a week.

i love this place! it's just a block away from Windansea beach, really nice. people there are very friendly, especially since it was our first time in La Jolla. I would recommend it to anyone going to the area, that wants a better value than a travelodge, but not as expensive as a hyatt
