La Avenida Inn, Coronado

My boyfriend and I stayed there for a nice getaway since he's in the military there and I live in the greater LA area..it was such a cozy room, spacious and very clean, the staff was very welcoming..we're staying again very soon!

The location of this hotel is exactly where you want to be when visiting Coronado. It is right across the street from Hotel del Coronado (out of most people's price range) which features tons of shops and access to the beach. It's also across the street from Island Pasta, an amazing Italian restaurant and right next door to Brugger's Bagels, a great breakfast place. We did have some problems when we first checked in though because they booked us for the wrong days (showing up the next day and leaving a day early). But the front desk clerk was very helpful calling around and found us a place at the Best Western down the street for the first night and put us on a wait list for the last night, which we eventually got-although we had to change rooms and we had been staying there for 7 days. The rooms were lacking, I thought, for the price we were paying. The first night at the Best Western was a much better deal and it had a heated pool and a hot tub (which this hotel only has a pool..not heated) as well as a kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and coffee pot-non of which this hotel had. The ironing boards were the small dinky ones you had to get from the front desk and if you wanted a blow dryer you had to get one from the front as well. The only thing is we were right in the middle of everything but I think it might have been worth it to walk a couple blocks. Oh and you could hear every step and conversation of the people on the floor above you. The last night we stayed on the 2nd floor and weren't too happy with the no elevator situation since we had a lot of bags.

We wanted to spend an evening in Coronado and see the sights while vacationing in San Diego and La Avenida was a very affordable and quaint hideaway that was a short walking distance to everything - beach, the Hotel del Coronado, shops, Theatre. Thanks - we'll be back!

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for our honeymoon. The rooms were clean, fresh smelling, and spacious. Great location to the beach, resturants and shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are definetly going back.

The location is absoluety perfect. Minutes walk away from the beach, restaurants and the inevitable Irish pub. The room was spacious, clean and cool. A fridge would have been handy. The staff in reception were very friendly and courteous. Parking was free and very close to the room. The pool is small but at least its wet! We would recommend this hotel to anybody. We will go back.

Cute hotel across the street from Hotel del Coronado. Bagel shop right next door. Friendly staff. Rooms basic. We also got a free bike rental with our reservations for about an hour to ride around the island. It was a relaxing stay.

I fell in love with this affordable "mom and pop" type small hotel. It was so conveniently located, we could walk to everything, beach, shops, restaurants, etc. The rooms are very clean and large, with a good sized dressing room, and the plantation shutters really provide a tropical atmosphere. But what I liked most of all was the friendly service at the front desk. It was like being back in the 1950's. Any questions we had were answered with a smile and pleasant conversation. In the morning, pastries and coffee were provided, with real mugs, not styrofoam cups!

I found it affordable, and accepted all the limitations that come with affordability.
