Not concerned with client satisfaction
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/11
This is a bait and switch hotel.Their deceptive marketing uses special pkg. rates such as "pay for 3 nights / 4th night free," however in the end they charge their published roomrate for all 4 nights. Very Naughty, Mr. Hong Kong Owner. -And one more thing, the living space in the room was renovated...the bathroom was not. So if you enjoy greenry in the shower, a basin which does not drain and has a horrific odor, then this is the 5 star hotel for you.

Excellent food, relaxing surroundings
By Christian Harris, 9/28/09
This hotel is simply excellent. From the food to the environment to the room everything was better than expected. Went for a romantic night away with my wife and am already mentally planning the next time.

A wonderful place to get away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/3/09
My husband and I stayed at this hotel last weekend for a night away and we had a wonderful time. The location it is great - it is in a residential neighborhood so it is nice and peaceful, but it is only about 5 minutes away from lots of great restaurants and shopping. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and our room was lovely. It overlooked the valley and gardens. We ate at the restaurant by the pool on the terrace which was very good.

Definetly not the Ritz...
By Lisa W, 6/9/08
I was married at the Ritz so I remember all the little details and I know that they are missing. The first thing I noticed were the flowers, certainly not the same florist. The arrangements were very dissappointing compared to the Ritz's fabulous displays. From the staff (although nice), to the banquet rooms the hotel is simply not as elegant as it was for many, many years. Too bad, I will miss going. I also noticed a lack of guest, it seemed really empty. Assuming they would be trying to attract guest, i checked the rates. Priced like the Ritz, but definetly not the Ritz!

we aren't at a Ritz Carlton anymore, Dorothy
By Resource, 3/23/08
Having stayed previously at 2 Ritz Carltons (Naples, FL and West Palm Beach, FL) we were looking forward to attending a conference at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena. However, after we made our reservations, we found out the hotel had been purchased by the Langham group. Friends who have stayed at Langhams in Europe assured us we would be pleased, however, we were sorely disappointed. Hotel staff did not give us directions to our room when we registered upon arrival. We had to find someone to ask, and that person just pointed us down the hall (this place is layed out like a rat's maze with little or no characteristics to help you find where you are). Coming from the cool mountains of Southwest, VA--we were looking forward to meals including fresh fruits and vegetables--no fruit to speak of and no fresh veggies other than mixed green salads were provided with the conference meals (isn't Pasadena close to large citrus and strawberry farms?)--internet access was available at an additional charge of $9.95 per day; music was available via cable TV @ $9.95 for 2 hours; all in-room movies were $9.95 each--was $9.95 the magic number--when you pay over $300 per night for a room, one expects internet, music and some movies to be provided at no charge. When we sat by the pool, we had to find towels on our own--no pool staff was in evidence and had to also find someone from whom to order drinks. A server at the Terrace Restaurant rudely removed bread and crackers from our table when we said we just wanted to order drinks and enjoy the view (no other tables were occupied at the time so it wasn't like the hotel was busy)--Also, I have never stayed in a hotel of this price range and not had fresh flowers in my room--the grounds were gorgeous with fresh flowers and a simple budvase with a fresh flower would have been a wonderful touch. I will say valet service was excellent and one young man offered to go get me some fresh oranges from his own yard. Also, there was a precious woman who turned down our bed each evening and remembered every night that my husband did not like chocolate so would place candies just on my side of the bed. She also left us extra water each night and ice after being asked just the first night to do so. I would have like to have completed an evaluation but was not provided one and when I asked, I was told they were not yet available. Langham better step it up if they want to compete in the luxury accomodations market.

As of 1/1/2008 No Longer The Ritz-Carlton
By J B, 2/27/08
Things have changed at this hotel. Not bad, but it is no longer a memeber of the Ritz-Carlton family and therefore many amenities and extra touches are gone.

We will be there again this evening!
First of all, I have been dining, staying, or simply walking through the gardens of the Huntington Hotel for the last 30 years or so. Wasn't the hotel built 150 years ago or so? Secondly, I love the history of this hotel. The Hungtington family was, of course, an integral part of California's railroad history. Thirdly, the service and attitude of the staff are outstanding. The rooms are well appointed. The cuisine the best. Fourthly, the Hotel is pet friendly!! Need I say more? An elegant, mesmerizing and historical experience. We will be there, again, tonight, President's Day, Monday, February 18, 2008, for The California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Annual Meeeting and Awards Dinner. God bless. "Sunny" Murchison Pasadena, California

NOT THE SAME
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/9/08
Since the hotel changed hands and is no longer a Ritz Carlton, there is an unfortunate difference. On our last visit, the toilet leaked, the feather beds are gone, the beautiful floral arrangements are gone, the restaurant and service in the restaurant was poor (sticky menus, not enough silverware, untrained staff, etc.). I'm afraid this beautiful hotel has lost it's luster and is no longer worth the prices.

TWO THUMBS UP FOR PASADENA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
I have been to both Ritz Carlton. One in Pasadena and the other in Marina Del Rey. The one in Pasadena, hubby took me there for our 10 yr wedding anniversary. When we checked in they greeted us both outside and inside like they expected us and they knew used our last names each time right off the bat. Now that my dear is service. My room had champaigne and chocolated covered strawberries and a card from the staff. Marina Del Rey hubby took me there for our 12 yr wedding anniversary. I guess I expected the same courtesy as Pasadena staff made us feel. SO to Ritz in Pasadena two thumbs UP

Poor Restaurant Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/07
We've visited the outdoor dining at the Ritz a few times, but the last time, we had terrible service and found their price for a drink at $15 each to be outlandish. The waiter didnt seem to care that we felt the service was poor, the management fussed a bit, but overall, having traveled a lot, visited many first class resorts, I don't think I've ever paid $15 each for a martini. There are too many excellent restaurants in the area to tolerate that.
