Check in, Check out
By Fluff, 03/11/09
Where to begin... Pulled into the hotel to find about 30 people just hanging out drinking in the parking lot. A bus full of what seemed to be a family reunion then showed up. That was fine I guess and seemed tolerable. Check in was decent, the lady at the desk was nice, but the pool was disgusting. It was a selling point for us to be able to hang outside, but there were ducks floating in it and bird crap everywhere. Things got bad when we left the "lobby" and got our bags to go up to our room. The bottom floor seemed like it was permanently rented out and as we walked up the stairs people were peaking out their windows at us. Very creepy, it felt like we were being sized up and scoped out. The room smelled like smoke which was the final straw. We left within 15 minutes of being there. The place is connected to an iHop, that's about all there is to know. Overall, very shady place with shady people around.

Rude Staff and a BIG WASTE of Money
By LINNEA, 03/06/09
I got a King ring, when I got inside I didn't enjoy what I saw. The rooms filthy, with bad curtains hanging off the wall...the bed appeared to be used, the smell of cigarettes was there and in the hallway's as well. Needless to say I called and requested a refund, and was told to go to the office to speak to the manager.Long story short, They said no refunds, I was in the room "too long"(16 minutes), and the toilet was used, which was not true, so they called the COPS on me....CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? so they come, take my name, give me the" They have the right to refuse service to anyone" CRAP....and I was out of $80.25 exactly.....and when I called previous to checking in, I was quoted 65, and the website says 39....now what the Heck is going on with these people!??? NEVER go here.......dirty place, nasty staff! Not worth what they got from me. 03/04/09 6:30pm

Excellent!!
By A Yahoo! User, 01/18/09
After reading other post, I was not sure how I would like staying here. I am so glad I didn't take the what others had to say to heart. I had nothing but great service the whole 4 nights I stayed here. The front desk girls were exceptionally pleasant and very professional. The rooms were nice and clean and there was no noise or shady people hanging around as it was posted in prior post. I live out of town and work in Redwood City. This is going to be the place I continue to stay at during my work week from now on. Thank you everyone at Good Nite Inn, Redwood City for making my week a very pleasant one and you will be seeing me as a regular guest at your inn.

Pleasantly Surprised!
By Melissa A, 09/24/08
We ordered a queen room and I requested a 2nd floor pool balcony room. We got a king room with a fold out couch, coffee table, desk, and large bureau. We had just stayed at the same chain in Salinas and the hotel had quite the opposite effect. This one was clean, very spacious, and had a beautiful courtyard. AC worked well. Continental breakfast consisted only of muffins/danishes and OJ, but what do you expect for the price - I'm amazed it was included at all! Good hotel, absolutely no complaints!

What a dump!
By Sandy, 08/15/08
There are so many things we hated about this place. It is sits on the highway, so you get traffic noise ALL night and day. It looks cheery in the pics, but its not. The staff was indifferent, at best. The maids must be understaffed. I had 3 wrappers sitting together on the end table. She took away 2 and left 1. The towels are threadbare and tiny. We got 1 towel, 1 hand towel, and 1 washcloth. Unfortunately there were 2 of us. There is no after hours help. No one delivers food to this location, either. There is an IHOP, so if you can live on pancakes, you're ok. There were stains on the carpet, both inside the room and out, as well as on the bedspread. After I got home I found out they charged my debit card that I used to check in with for 2 fraudulent amounts. I used a cc to pay for the room. My bank is investigating. There were parties in the parking lot with beer out in the open, but it didn't seem to matter to the hotel staff. There is no elevator. Seems like the ground floor is booked permanently because in an entire week they didn't have a room available for us to move to.There is a deposit for the phone, even if you are only making a local call. They don't tell you that at the front desk when you check in. It gets to be a surprise when you need the phone. There was no remote for the tv. Maybe you need to leave a deposit for that, too. We didn't ask. If you just need a place to crash for a night and can sleep through a freight train coming through your room, this is the place for you. If you have kids, avoid at all cost!

Major Bummer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/08
97 degrees outside yesterday, and I have no AC in my apt....what to do? Stay somewhere close by with a/c! Room was nice, beautiful pool, very inviting and KILLER air conditioning! Was there about an hour, decided to make dinner reservations, and the phone didnt work....THEN, the satellite TV went out...called lobby, said they'd take care of it... Well, by 8:00 when we returned from dinner, still no TV...still no phone...at least we did get refunded for both days we'd booked originally...but check your room before you accept it if you go here.

Better than reviews led us to believe
By Debbie, 01/09/08
Prior reviews led me to expect a rather run down motel with a shoddy staff. However, our room, the halls, and front desk area were pretty much average for a motel that's been around a while. The ceiling and carpet in the halls looked to be new. The lady at the front desk was amiable and complied willingly with my request for a room away from the freeway. The continental breakfast was slim pickings, but the IHOP next door was very good.

Still worth the Awesome rate!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/07
The room was clean and updated. The halls were a bit grimy but I did not have to sleep there. I wish the exterior doors locked and would need a key card for entry to the hallways and rooms. My greatest disappointment was the pool. I always look forward to swimming in a hotel pool and this one was milky/murky. I drove over to the airport drive good nite inn to check their pool and it looked awesome, so I am giving the Redwood City Good Nite Inn the benefit of the doubt that their filter was having a bad day. Needless to say I never went for a swim in my 3 night stay. In the future I might go back to the Airport Drive GNI one just for the pool, they aren't very far apart.

Best Value for the Money
By DavidJ, 06/09/07
We were initially given a smoking room by mistake. The room was clean but smelled of cigarettes. The remaining rooms were sold out for the night but were were given a non-smoking room for the remaining 2 nights of our stay. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful; gave us directions to San Fransico tourist areas. The IHOP next door was a real plus. Basic ammenities (nothing fancy) but for the money you can't beat the price!
