LOVE LOVE LOVE

Best Holiday Inn!!!! The neighborhood puts right in the middle of San Francisco. One direction is the Wharff and the other is Downtown! Makes the city completely accessible, especially with the cable car right on its cross street, and the bus right in front! Great location! Gorgeous hotel!!!! Love it!! Will stay again! Many times! I am bringing my parents for their fiftieth!!

great value!

Awesome hotel to stay in for a visit to san francisco. Very convenient the trolley stop was right below the hotel (van ness street). recommend getting the 2 days passport which includes rides on any of the trolley lines and any of the buses running in the city. However, though not near the tenderloin, we still didnt find it really safe to walk around the hotel at night as there were a few homeless vagrants loitering around the street asking for cash to spare (although theyre quite harmless im sure). pretty safe to move around the area in the day with a supermarket(walgreen) just down at polk street. would recommend asking the bellboy for a place for breakfast -he showed us this really great place just behind the hotel prices less than 10bucks a dish. theres a really great italian pizza restaurant just around the corner also at polk street if youre interested. serves really crispy thin crusted pizza. Service was pretty decent. ammenities include free wireless internet in the rooms (: coin operated laundry. rooms didnt come with a safe deposit box though, had to use the locker drawer at the front desk -which was small enough only for storage for documents/cash not for laptops. worth considering. will definitely return for a stay here if im back to san frans.

nice...but
By bryan b, 08/28/08
it was in a fair spot just a throw from the cable car and the bus line and there are some restaurants nearby within a fair walking distance mels drive inn and a japan sushi bar walgreens also nearby for medical stuff (bring a coat ) it gets cold and windy later in the day... the staff i found very pleasant the front desk was very accomadating at trying to get me a room with 2 single beds if you book online check this out very carefully the ice machines may not be on every floor and they only seem to have pop machines the souvenir place is well stocked for munchies and the clerk we had was VERY helpfull in giving directions to tourists give him a tip the restaurant is good for breakfast $16.50 try it once though there are banks bearby wells fargo right next door ... the only downside is the homeless they seem to be on every block or corner go in groupsif going out after dark buy a bus pass it helps if you like to travel around the city it gets a bit noisy at times street traffic so try a high floor room great view and a great pool for the kids or the adults

You get what you pay for
By FrankG, 04/08/08
Good location in downtown, but not in the nicest part of the neighborhood. You can hear the drunks at night. I only stayed here because that's where my conference was at. The room was tiny and lacked a closet. I only got a wardrobe that bundled with the entertainment center. The conference rooms were great, though. The staff was nice. Don't expect any perks with your stay - you get what you pay for. Fair price for a hotel downtown, but you won't want to be spending too much time in your room.

Decent, do not expect to much
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/01/08
You get what you pay for, decent price for decent room. The major disappointment was that the hotel operator had a very negative attitude- she shouldn't be working there is she hates speaking to customers. The rest of the staff were courteous. Next time we will spend more and stay in a better hotel with better service.

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/07
Great place with a fantastic view! The hotel is located downtown and seemed to be convenient to all areas of San Fran. The Cable Cars are literally right around the corner. The best part is that it's in a neat neighborhood that is not as touristy as some other parts of town...plenty of local restaurants, pubs and shops just a block away. Make sure to grab a meal at the Crepe House on Polk Street!

We're going to come back

Close to the California line of the cable-car. You can open the window... but it is an inconvenient when you stay at the 23rd and you have children. The staff doesn't speak foreign languages but is very kind.

Great Location....Will stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/07
Hotel was in a great location, 5min by car or cable car from downtown. View from our room was wonderful on the 17th floor, and service was great. Found nice restaurants and diners few blocks from the hotel. Would recommend eating breakfast from the several diners nearby. Parking was expensive at $33 per day, but it seemed much cheaper than most places. There was no gym in the hotel, just a small room with 2 treadmills.

Great location, great views
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
We don't know what this room would cost regularly since we paid a convention rate, but our upgrade to a higher floor was worth every penny of the extra $20 it cost us. Seeing the city laid out below us was a source of never-ending delight and fascination to us and our two boys. We had an east-facing room, so we were able to see the sun and moon rising (and the Blue Angels air shows, balloons, shooting stars... amazing!). I can't overstate how much it enhanced our experience of the city to have that view, which in effect made the city available to us even when we were lounging on our beds! The rooms are smallish but clean with unremarkable decor. We used our coffee maker but also discovered a Starbucks on the corner by the hotel entrance. A refrigerator in the room was nice to have. Our only complaint was the lack of a bathroom exhaust fan; unless we kept the door closed, the windows fogged up. We were on a tight budget so ate many of our meals on Polk St. just a block away. If you like Vietnamese, Indian, etc. you'll find plenty of good and inexpensive food a short walk from the hotel. Another perk is the start of the California St. cable car line right beside the hotel. We rode the cable car to Chinatown ($5 a ticket seemed ridiculous, but a cable car ride was on the "must do" list)and then walked back, enjoying Nob Hill scenery. The desk staff were very pleasant. Parking did add $25 per night to our bill.
