Crummy
By Im3rdRH, 9/7/11
The front desk staff is need of serious customer service skills. Parking is 38.00 a day. Rooms are out dated and small. The rest of the staff we encountered where very friendly and they even had good room service. The card key to parking garage worked half the time and they even couldn't track the daily payment for parking which we made in advance. Generally Holiday Inn's are a safe bet. Skip this one. There are so many better options at that price in SF.

Seriously over rated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/11
A classic example of a hotel trading on its location rather than its amenities. Look people in San Francisco accomodation everywhere is convenient to the attractions unless you are at the airport. So ignoring its location; This is a 3 star property at best, in Asia it would be a 2. Rooms can be small, noisy, and badly need a refurb. You can hear someone fart 3 doors down so take earplaugs. Avoid rooms next to drink machines. Not a business hotel. Can take a long time to check in and out due groups.First timers to SFO , tour groups and those with low expectations will be excited but for sav vy travellers spend more and stay somewhere classier.

BEST HOLIDAY INN IN SAN FRANCISCO!!!
By David, 6/8/10
This is the best Hotel to stay in for your money. Clean rooms, friendly guest service, I stayed in room 1708 with a great view of the ocean and buildings. This hotel is in the heart of everything Fisherman Wharfs, North Beach, China Town, Little Italy and even Japantown. About 20 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge. I did not rent a car because the parkings at the hotel cost about $35 a night to park. I got on the bus for $2 with a 3 hour transfer. Well worth it. From this hotel get the 47 bus on Van Ness and it will take you straight to Fisherman Wharf and back. To get to the Golden Gate Bridge get the #1 bus on Sacramento (2 block away from the Hotel) then transfer to #28 on Presidio Park to Golden Gate Bridge. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Alcatraz & Angel Island Cruise I purchased this package a night before for $58 per person from the Alcatrazcruises.com website. I took the 9:30am cruise landed on the Alcatraz Island in 20 minutes and stayed for about 3 hours for the tour. (AUDIO TOUR) After the 3 hours stay at Alcatraz we took the Angel Island for a 1 hour tour on the trolley. After the tour is done you have about 40 minutes to hang out before they take you back to SF. We were extremely lucky to have a very nice clear sky. Bring your cameras and recorders you get the best pictures on the tour and boat.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Best Holiday Inn!!!! The neighborhood puts right in the middle of San Francisco. One direction is the Wharff and the other is Downtown! Makes the city completely accessible, especially with the cable car right on its cross street, and the bus right in front! Great location! Gorgeous hotel!!!! Love it!! Will stay again! Many times! I am bringing my parents for their fiftieth!!

great value!
By fatboy., 12/4/08
Awesome hotel to stay in for a visit to san francisco. Very convenient the trolley stop was right below the hotel (van ness street). recommend getting the 2 days passport which includes rides on any of the trolley lines and any of the buses running in the city. However, though not near the tenderloin, we still didnt find it really safe to walk around the hotel at night as there were a few homeless vagrants loitering around the street asking for cash to spare (although theyre quite harmless im sure). pretty safe to move around the area in the day with a supermarket(walgreen) just down at polk street. would recommend asking the bellboy for a place for breakfast -he showed us this really great place just behind the hotel prices less than 10bucks a dish. theres a really great italian pizza restaurant just around the corner also at polk street if youre interested. serves really crispy thin crusted pizza. Service was pretty decent. ammenities include free wireless internet in the rooms (: coin operated laundry. rooms didnt come with a safe deposit box though, had to use the locker drawer at the front desk -which was small enough only for storage for documents/cash not for laptops. worth considering. will definitely return for a stay here if im back to san frans.

nice...but
By bryan b, 8/28/08
it was in a fair spot just a throw from the cable car and the bus line and there are some restaurants nearby within a fair walking distance mels drive inn and a japan sushi bar walgreens also nearby for medical stuff (bring a coat ) it gets cold and windy later in the day... the staff i found very pleasant the front desk was very accomadating at trying to get me a room with 2 single beds if you book online check this out very carefully the ice machines may not be on every floor and they only seem to have pop machines the souvenir place is well stocked for munchies and the clerk we had was VERY helpfull in giving directions to tourists give him a tip the restaurant is good for breakfast $16.50 try it once though there are banks bearby wells fargo right next door ... the only downside is the homeless they seem to be on every block or corner go in groupsif going out after dark buy a bus pass it helps if you like to travel around the city it gets a bit noisy at times street traffic so try a high floor room great view and a great pool for the kids or the adults

You get what you pay for
By FrankG, 4/8/08
Good location in downtown, but not in the nicest part of the neighborhood. You can hear the drunks at night. I only stayed here because that's where my conference was at. The room was tiny and lacked a closet. I only got a wardrobe that bundled with the entertainment center. The conference rooms were great, though. The staff was nice. Don't expect any perks with your stay - you get what you pay for. Fair price for a hotel downtown, but you won't want to be spending too much time in your room.

Decent, do not expect to much
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/08
You get what you pay for, decent price for decent room. The major disappointment was that the hotel operator had a very negative attitude- she shouldn't be working there is she hates speaking to customers. The rest of the staff were courteous. Next time we will spend more and stay in a better hotel with better service.

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/07
Great place with a fantastic view! The hotel is located downtown and seemed to be convenient to all areas of San Fran. The Cable Cars are literally right around the corner. The best part is that it's in a neat neighborhood that is not as touristy as some other parts of town...plenty of local restaurants, pubs and shops just a block away. Make sure to grab a meal at the Crepe House on Polk Street!

We're going to come back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
Close to the California line of the cable-car. You can open the window... but it is an inconvenient when you stay at the 23rd and you have children. The staff doesn't speak foreign languages but is very kind.
