Nice location,but!
By ,
My husband and I went to San Francisco for our honeymoon.San Francisco is beautiful, but we had a terrible bed when we stayed at the fairmont, the bed was so lumpy and hard my husband was waking up every 2 hrs and me I would wake up with a really bad backache. They advised us if we wanted a better room we would have to pay an extra $30, for the price we paid it should have been a better bed, we paid $272 per night for 10 days. When we made reservations they stated we would get a king size bed,it was more like a queen. The room that we were in the cabinet that holds the TV was really dusty on top. All and all it was a poor value for $272 a night, but we loved the city but the hotel was awful and we learned our lesson.

A wonderful experience
By ,
I was especially taken by the level of attentiveness in this hotel. The staff is extremely courteous. My wife and I were on the Bed & Breakfast plan which was an additional $20.00 per night. For that $20.00 we were given a $70.00 credit in the Laurel Court each day. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and the service top notch. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The location of the Fairmont adjacent to both cable car lines made it very convenient to get any where in the city. One note: Parking is $45.00 per night. I was able to find a car rental company which offered free over night parking. It was a few blocks away but the money I saved made it well worth the inconvenience. All in all, a wonderful experience at a price comparable to other quality San Francisco hotels.

Wonderful place to stay
By ,
I liked the fact that this place was big. With it's big rooms, tall ceilings, and huge lobby, it was great for someone who needs a lot of room to work. However, the rooms were a bit plain to me. In our room the door was right beside the bed. Great place to stay if only for part of your trip.

Best Hotel in SF
By ,
The Faitmont is by far the best hotel in SF. You really worth the money you pay. You have excellent views, large rooms, and excellent service. Don't waste your time across the street at Mark Hopkins. The rooms are too small for what you pay for.

Service was good
By ,
The bathtub was not clean and 1-2 days after showering, I came down with a very painful foot infection making walking almost impossible and for treatment of same, I had to walk painfully down the very steep Nob Hill to the house doctor, who was wonderful and saw me right away. Drawback, you are on the top of a very steep hill. Wheelchairs, young children, baby buggies or heels are not an option if you are a mere mortal. For the price, my room was cramped with no view, dark and musty. If you want to spring for numerous cab rides, you are located close to many of the local sights. All of the employees were spectacularly approachable, welcoming and helpful. The pain in my foot that strangely coincided with the slimy shower floor took most of the joy out of the visit. My Internet connection would not work.

Must Visit!
By ,
A top Nob Hill, this hotel gives the traveler a breathtaking view over the city. Talk about romance, this place has it. A great selection of restaurants and places to hang out. Make sure you get a room with a view. Definately worthwhile, and the higher the better.
