Amazing Stay
By Chris, 11/02/08
My wife and I needed a weekend getaway from LA and found Miramonte on the Internet. The check-in was great, very welcoming, room was nice and the grounds were beautiful. My wife said it was the best massage she has ever had at the spa and I golf right across the street at their golf course which was awesome.....although the golf it a little spendy. We stay at luxury resort all the time and this is definitely top notch.

Too many better choices
By Laura, 11/13/06
#1. The first room we were given smelled as if it played host to a cigar smoking competititon. (That was after we were asked to find our room ourselves on checkin in the dark at 6PM ("oh, it's easy, and it doesn't look as far away as on the map"..they actually said this.)The floor plan of the huts or barracks they have is anything but intuitive, so bring a compass. The second room overlooked the parking lot, and was next to the icemaker grinding. #2. for a 7AM wakeup call, guess what time we got the call.... 7:29! Front Desk: This is your 7AM wakeup call... Me: Um, and what time is it now... Front Desk: 7:29. Me: So how is this a 7AM wakeup call? Front Desk: Uh, we're running a few minutes behind. Me: Yes, a half hour behind on the single most basic hotel request. The rooms are tired, circa late 80's, the towl racks are rusty. Service personnnel are amateur. Anyone I asked said the same thing... Not only a bad experience, but among the worst I've ever had in two decades of travel. Pretty hard to make such a nice destination so unpleasant, but that's one thing they achieved. Don't do it to yourself.

Great hotel with many amenities!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/06
Boutique like hotel. Beautiful tuscan setting. Spa was very nice!!! We were staying overnight for business, but wished we had more time! Breakfast was delicious -- brulee oatmeal was like eating dessert for breakfast!! Staff was helpful. Room was comfortable, nicely decorated and very clean. Relaxing. Facility was more geared for adults than for kids, although there were families there. Smaller pool than the big resorts, but great for younger kids. Will definitely be back!

Excellent spa - we loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/06
My wife and I spent our 2nd anniversary there for a relaxing spa day. Prior to making reservations there, I did some research on the internet, and I noticed the mixed reviews. I spoke to the spa director, who assured me that the recently renovated spa had ungergone many significant changes under her supervision, and that many recent guests had glowing reviews. I decided to at least give the spa a try, and she helped me with the planning of our day there. We did not stay at the hotel because we had to go to work the following morning, so a spa day sounded like a great choice the day before returning to work from our Christmas vacation. I chose the spa because I wanted a spa with ambience and an intimate atmosphere - not a huge, over-the-top spa where you feel like a number. This was exactly what I was looking for. The spa offers many unique treatments that other spas do not offer. I highly recommend the Watsu (or Aqua Well), which is a service that is in a warm water pool, and it feels like you are in a weightless, dreamlike state. It's definitely an unforgettable experience that you should try at least once in your life. My wife and I both noticed the friendliness and the professionalism of the therapists. They were very friendly, professional, and you could tell that they enjoyed working there. We ordered lunch and had it delivered to the spa, so we could enjoy eating while we were in our spa robes and slippers. The Fresh Fettucine that we ordered included the best tasting scallops that we ever had. Although lunch wasn't really planned into the schedule, they worked around it and we were not rushed or forced to finish by a specific time. The entire day went really smoothly and we would definitely go back again. The spa is small and intimate enough, yet offers a wide variety of treatments. They also have some of the most advanced equipment that you won't see in ordinary spas. Don't hesitate to give this spa a try - you won't regret it!

A great place to relax and rejuvinate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/06
We visted in January to escape from the rain and gray of Washington. We were not disappointed. The weather was terrific, we even managed to get a bit of a sunburn! Our stay at the Miramonte was terrific. From check in to check out our expectations were met. The grounds are lovely. The staff were attentive and accommodating. The spa was awesome. We enjoyed many different types of massages and were thrilled with each service. Our room was beautifully appointed. All in all, we felt we were well taken care of and would happily return!

Swamp Cooler!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/05
While the photos online are appealing, our stay was not. The overall grounds are nice, however the 2nd floor room that we had in June (114 degree weather) had a sub par cooling system. They sent a tech who told us there was nothing he could do because the room uses a water cooler! They denied our request to change rooms. After complaining the next morning they comped our breakfast. If you happen to stay there, do not stay in the building that is on the right of the pool area closest to the lobby.

Spa with a Peeking Tom
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/05
Check in was a disaster.. We got there at noon & room was not yet ready. No problem, they told us to come back in 2 hrs..they would put a rush on it. We returned at 3:30 and then again at 4:30 before the manager finally gave us a differnet room. There was hardly anyone there that night so I am not sure why it was such a problem to get a few rooms cleaned? The front desk should have told us to come back at 5:00 instead of 2 hours and we would have planned our day differently. Once we got our room, we had a great time. Since the hotel was virtually empty, we enjoyed the pool to ourselves most of the time. It was also very quiet & relaxing...except for the trip to the spa where a male employee came into the females locker room to see me half dressed. That pretty much ruined my time there. It should be obvious that he could have sent in a female to see if anyone was in there? He was trying to let contractors in to remodel the ladies locker room. I heard all about their grout & tile problems as they waited and reviewed their ideas....just inside the ladies locker room. Not what I call relaxing. I went to the desk at the spa but it was the guy who was peeking!! But the reatment was wonderful! This could be a great place with a little better managed staff!!
