Wonderful! Simply wonderful!
By ,
We brought our Dobie with us and stayed on the second floor. Street parking is best, but there is other parking. Taking the dog out for a walk was wonderful! There are boutique shops just up one block, along with plenty of places for the pooch to go to the bathroom. They have mitts for you so you can pick up after your dog. The outdoor patio is quaint and, so our pooch didn't have to sit on the brick floor, they brought a bed out for her to sit/lay down on. This is truly a dog lover's hotel. The staff is helpful, accommodating and they love dogs! We loved it so much, we're staying there again this weekend! The continental breakfast offers just about everything and the food for lunch and dinner was wonderful. It's close enough to the beach to walk it and there is a lot to see on the way there. Do yourself and your pooch a favor. Stay here and support animal welfare at the same time. You just can't do better than that.

Fabulous charming inn in Carmel
By ,
We loved the ambiance of the inn. It has the charm of a European hotel and their attentive staff couldn't be more accomodating. Our room was small but well appointed and very comfortable. It is located within easy walking distance of all the quaint shops, restaurants, cafes and beach. Their continental breakfast has an expansive selection of delectable foods. It will definitely be worth a repeat visit when we are in the area again.

Not just for tourists - locals love it too!
By ,
After many pleasant evenings sitting in the bar enjoying drinks and appetizers with our dog, we decided to try out one of the rooms at Cypress Inn when our house (1/2 a mile down the street) needed to be treated for termites. We spent one night and two days at the Inn and enjoyed all the amenities it had to offer, including just about the best gourmet hamburger we've ever tasted. The restaurant has been our favorite ever since and we highly recommend it even if you aren't staying there. Very reasonably priced compared to most in Carmel. Unfortunately there are no discounts for locals but the room rates are no more than some of the less charming hotels in town. The big draw is that all dogs are welcome, not just tolerated, everywhere including the bar where you can also order wonderful meals from the restaurant. The beach is just a few blocks down Ocean Avenue where your dog can run off leash (strict rules about picking up after them, though). Carmel is the place to visit if you're bringing your pet along and the Cypress Inn is one of the nicest hotels here. Take it from someone who has tried them all!

Why Leave Princess at Home?
By ,
A great find for dog lovers who travel w/pets. Convenient location, walk to the beach, shop, or just hang out. Ammenities include doggie treats and dog bed w/ towel for wet paws. Need a sitter? No problem! My dog and I have stayed here three times and loved each one. Rates can be somewhat prohibitive for extended stays, but it's worth the treat. The only thing missing is a spa!

Nice inn
By ,
Cozy with antic/old furniture, homey atmosphere, interesting architecture, pet friendly inn in charming Carmel, close to shopping area and to restaurants but distant from the beach.

Won't Return - Extremely Disappointed
By ,
Though this botique hotel was nice, the deluxe king for $400 a night was confining, dark (no windows other than doors leading to courtyard that you couldn't leave open) - the jacuzzi bath was NOT a jacuzzi bath! - the room had a "swamp" cooler that was very noisy - no movies to be rented on tv - no refrig - no where for our dog to "relieve itself" and parking meant having to move our car every 90 minutes so the "meter maid" wouldn't ticket us. A big disappointment. It must be living on the name of it being Doris Day's hotel, because it was not user friendly for dogs, parking, nor comfort in the room.

great place for dogs and people
By ,
Clean and inviting. Nice soft blanket for your pooch and welcome cookie too! A bowl for food and water would be a nice addition. The dogs are welcome in the bar and in the beautiful patio area. They have a nice dinner menu with good food and many different drinks to choose from. We have stayed here twice and will again.

Europe in the USA
By ,
I LOVED the Cypress Inn...where do I begin? The staff is awesome, very accommodating and they made me feel very much at home. The ambience is wonderful; all of the flowers made me feel like I was in Europe again. The Continental Breakfast is not your typical one because it is above and beyond anything you have ever eaten. Everything was delicious and so fresh. Yum! Doris Day is with you all day with her music playing as you walk into the Inn. The "living room" is so cozy and I just loved sitting there with my afternoon tea, next to the fireplace, chatting with the other guests...4 and 2-legged! (When asked where my dogs were I commented that my two 70 pounders wouldn't fit under the airplane seat!(They stayed home with their feline brothers.) I want to come back soon, so keep "my room" ready for me! J.W.Bauman
