Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/09
Nothing but problems.....to this day! they messed up our reservation, made us move rooms at 11 PM on our anniversary, bathrooms were the size of the plane we came in on, and the billing issues have still not been corrected. We have been charged for services we did not render and were not credited for compensation that was promised during the room mix-up. We have now gotten into a "he said She said" debate! needless to say, the customer is not always right at this resort! Don't go!

Don't go to the Sunday Brunch anymore...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/08
As locals of Santa Cruz my family and I have been returning customers of the Chaminade's Sunday brunch for years, until recently. We went to celebrate someone's birthday, arriving with expectations of a champagne brunch. Unfortunately we were quite unhappy to find that not only does the brunch only include one complimentary glass of champagne, but they've also raised their price on the brunch to almost $30 a person, for that much we each could've had a much better brunch of much better quality and actually worth the price plus a few glasses of champagne. While the service was decent and the hotel and views are beautiful, my family and I will definitely not be dining there again.

Good location, but over-priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/08
The location is great for business-related retreats or to take advantage of the spa & facilities .... however, if staying for just one night, The Chaminade is overpriced. We expected a bigger room for the price, as well as other "niceties" like a fridge or microwave (which it didn't have). However, the staff was very welcoming.

Two thumbs down
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/08
Asked for no feathers and gave me feathers. Asked for no onions at lunch and gave me onions. Hot tub broken. Gave us room keys that didn't work. Asked for faxed invoice, finally faxed after second request three days later. Fax reflected discounts to bill, credit card statement did not.

Not going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/08
My fiance and I have been to the Chaminade a half dozen times in the last year because of the views and it has been a good place to have a glass of wine and a light meal. However, the management recently changed the menu, increasing their prices (a standard, unremarkable hamburger with fries is now $16). We ordered skirt steak sandwiches, which were a couple bucks more than the burger. They were dry and tiny. Really disappointing, more like something you'd get for $5 at Denny's than at a place trying to bill itself as an upscale resort. Also, the Chaminade's spa is expensive, but doesn't live up to expectations. The massage therapist I had was polite and nice, and the massage was OK, just OK though, nothing earth shattering to write home about. I also found it difficult to relax while listening to the constant flushing of the toilets in the locker room next door!! This was a $145 massage with tip. A horrible value. Very disappointing.

Worth coming back to - Again and Again
By Joseph, 02/08/08
The facilities, service, food and over all package is something that keeps me coming back again and again. I have sent friends and family here because of my complete satisfaction with the service and facilities. The beds are simply wonderful and totally relaxing thanks to the feather toppers. They bend over backwards to ensure that each customer is being taken care of and enjoying themselves. The help is extremely friendly, professional and knowledgable. It's more like your visiting a good friend than it is like you are visiting a resort. Keep up the GREAT work, you have many Raving Fans I'm sure.

We love the Chaminade!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/07
Chaminade is one of the nicest properties that I have ever been to. It is situated on a bluff in Santa Cruz, and their two restaraunts have lovely panoramic views of the Monterey Bay. When weather permits you can even sit outside and eat while enjoying the view. The sleeping rooms are in small two-story buildings that give the property a quiet personalized feel. The rooms have super comfortable beds with down comforters and the bathrooms are stocked with Aveda bath products. There is tons to do at the resort itself, there is a full service spa, a heated pool and jacuzzi, hiking trails, a game room, a library, and an executive fitness center. All the staff is extremely helpful and friendly, they made you feel very welcomed. The property itself is located in a quiet area away from the main city, and you get the forrest feel so you can breathe clean crisp air. This is a hot spot for conferences and weddings, and I can see why with the beautiful setting. We love the Chaminade resort and spend tons of time there. Needless to say, it is a great place to relax and unwind from daily life.

Loved it
By likes2smile, 07/28/07
I liked the location a lot. It was quiet and kinda hidden, my room was downstairs on a 2 story bldng, so it was nice to step out to the trees and bushes. The hiking trails were small but ok, the drinks @ the bar were not good at all the only two bartenders got lost often.Food was ok. I wish they had a second pool the only one they had was somewhat crowded. The views were not fantastic but very pleasant, Overall it was a good experince I will go back.

Better off sleeping in your car!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/07
We reserved a room a month before our intended stay and after driving 4 hours to the resort, they gave us a smaller room than what was reserved, so they moved us to our King room, which hand no towels, a broken heater, and smelled like super glue. The pool and BOTH hot tubs were broken during our 5 night stay! The other amenities were dirty, moldy, broken and/or not available to us even though they were listed on the website as free to all guests. Our Breakfast and Dinner were awful! Cold, under cooked, bland, and over priced. We didn't eat in their resturnaunt after that experience. Whenever we had a question or needed something it took us almost 15 minutes to find someone to help us. The grounds are very rural and there were no lights along the pathes which was very dangerous. They're were screaming unattended kids everywhere all the time, even in the Bar which cancelled out any relaxation we had planned. I was supprised at how terrible our trip was after all the hype surrounding this place but clearly it's all talk! After our stay, I couldn't wait to get home and was more relaxed in my car than at that hotel. Later we stayed at The Seacliff Inn, it wasn't the best but it was far better than Chaminade at less expensive too. AVIOD THIS PLACE!
