Stay away from El Rancho!
Booked a couple rooms for family. Once we arrived they made it overly clear at check in that there would be a $50 extra charge for this or that, things like getting the towels too dirty, leaving the place to messy, finding any hints of smoke (which was fine being we don't smoke). Just thought it was a little overkill. Then, got to our rooms & found a burger king cup along w/ dog food next to TV! Carpets were soiled. Following day at checkout, took kids to heated swimming pool and were told to get out by manager because apparently they don't let you swim if it is past checkout time (we had just returned key . . .and it was maybe 12:30pm . . .not only that we had immediate family checked in for the night to come and they were there with us at pool!, so I guess, you can't have even guests)!!!!! Lastly, our other room (parents) didn't have hot water . . .when we called front desk they said we weren't turning it on right . . .when we'd already taken showers night before and knew how to put on hot. Said it was our fault!!! They wouldn't even send someone to room to look!!! 4 hours later (probably after other compaints) they got someone out to take a look and get hot water going. We've stayed in many places in and around Morro Bay, and you'd be better off at Motel 6 than this place. Mexican place next door is also overpriced and food is average at best. We're easy go folks that have rarely ever complained about room, but this was just ridiculous. Maybe they are just short on staff. We did see they had a "help wanted" sign in the office window.
