Excellent location!
By ,
Wow, you can see the Star of India down the road! If you visit in the late spring you'll see the jacarandas in full bloom all around this area! The room was small but who's staying inside while S.D. is so gorgeous! Parking lot spaces are very tight, so leave your SVU at home. Complimentary breakfast is adequate, worth spending extra $3.50 for any style eggs. Price and location are the main reasons to choose this hotel.

Location was excellent, actual hotel just ok
By ,
We chose this hotel based on three things, price, location and the fact that it had a pool. We wanted to be downtown and in walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter; we did lots of research and Best Western Bayside was the best price we could get for an adequate hotel. And the location was absolutely great! You can walk to Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp Quarter (10 minutes), the harbor (less than five minutes), Little Italy (less than five minutes) and Seaport Village (about 10 minutes). So that was just great. It was also very close to major highways. But there was nothing special about the hotel itself. It was clean enough. It's good for a place to crash, you don't really feel like you want to hang out in the room though. The pool and jacuzzi were very clean and we got good use of those. The front desk staff varied, some you felt wouldn't go at all out of their way to help you and some were better. Parking ($7 per day) seemed reasonable. The restuarant next door (where you got your continental breakfast) wasn't so great, very slow service and the food was just ok. Our biggest complaint was the construction going on next door (and which seems as if it will be going on for a long long time - they look to be building a high rise). This began at 8am on a Saturday (!) and the room was not very soundproof. Also, we overlooked the pool and noise from there interrupted an afternoon nap. Apparently higher up rooms have better views. Overall I think this hotel is ok if you are looking not to pay a ton of money and are basically looking for a place to crash and shower. As I said, we loved the location and the fact we could walk to a ton of places. If we returned to San Diego, however, we'd probably pay up to another $30 a night for another hotel. If we had no choices, however, we would stay here agian rather than staying farther away from downtown.

Great Stay
By ,
We had a great stay for a great price. This hotel is conveniently located to the Sea Harbor, Gaslamp Quarter, and major roadways. The service was fine, the room was clean, and the view from our 12 floor room was great. My son enjoyed the pool. All in all it was a great stay and I would certainly stay there again.

Great city, Bayside Inn beware
By ,
Advertised check-in time 3:00PM. We arrived 10 min early and were told that our room would not be ready for 45 min. No explanation, no alternative, and not much attention. The desk, when pressed said that we could just go up to the room and use it in whatever condition it was in and "who knows, it might be ready". We went to the room and it was cleaned and ready. The bag of trash outside the door remained in the same spot for the duration of our stay. Continental breakfast and gym use were with voucher which required effort to obtain. The general feeling was that the staff didn't really care if you were there or not.

Stay away, far far away!
By ,
First off paying for parking was riddiculous, mind you $7.00 is not alot but it can add up when you stay more than one night. Second, no elevators in the parking garage and however there was a stairway that led to a locked door and reaked of urine. Third, staff is rude and very unhelpful. Located in the bad part of town, homeless people sleeping out front and pan handleing. The airport is also about two seconds from the hotel, so hope you like the sound of airplanes all night. Taxi's are everywhere- you can stand downstairs for five minutes and get flagged down twice by a cab. No water pressure when you reach the higher floors- we were on the 12th. And to make our stay worst our toliet overflowed and the hotel was completely booked.

Best Western Bayside Inn

Was a decent stay, they tended to my needs pretty well. I enjoyed my stay overall. Compared to the Marriot they were pretty good, they could have had better sheets though.

An Experience
By ,
Noisey yet clean. False advertising on the continental breakfast. Truely the desk clerk reach around the counter for 2 packaged muffins. Parking and shuttle to airport a nice item althought the morning desk clerk was also the shuttle driver and she made us feel that we were inconviencing her. I tiped here 5 bucks anyway because this is a cheap hotel and she most likely dose not get paid well

No Parking Hotel
By ,
The Hotel price is fair. They said free garage parking written in both on-line and hotel reference book in the room, but they charged $7 per/night. When I show them online print-out and hotel book taken from my room, they asked me to park on the street. And one of two elevators is always broken. Don't use left elevator ever. Other than that, hotel price is fair, restaurant food and service is good.

A room to return to
By ,
My husband and I enjoyed the view and the location was ideal to the places we planned to visit. We also like the accomodations in the room, the refrigerator and chair with ottoman was an unexpected bonus.
