Best Western Plus Cavalier Oceanfront, San Simeon

The Banquet/ Catoring Manager was horrible to us and ruined our wedding reception. They gave us a menu to choose from which has never been updated so they couldn't even make some of our choices. They sprung a list of charges on us that we never agreed to two days before our wedding when we could no longer back out of the event at that location. They cleared plates before people were done eating. They started to break down tables and centerpieces to clear the room at 7:45 when I had the booked until 10:00PM so people thought my reception was over. They were clearing tables around our 97 year old grandmother when we came back from pictures. All my party favors and centerpieces were thrown in a pile in the corner of the room where the buffet dinner still should have been. Guests did not get seconds and left my wedding hungry. I left my wedding early because I was so upset with how the manager was treating me and my guests. I made a terrible mistake choosing this hotel. When we met with the owner because we were so unhappy...the owner never apologized but rather tried to nickle and dime us. To us it wasn't about the money but rather about the apology. They ruined our reception and nothing can give us back that night. Shame on them. Do not take your event here. The restaurant was awefull to us and we will never set foot in that hotel again because the owner was terrible to us. We have planned to come every year to the place we stayed when we got married. They took that away from us. Shame on them. Heartless money driven people.

The hotel, beach, and people were amazing! I highly recomend not eating at the restuarant. The food sucks. The places across the streat had great food, and service.

I am from Alaska and Mom, from Arizona, wanted the family together for Thanksgiving. Since my brother from Northern Ca. and sister from Az. have dogs we decided on the Cavalier since it is animal friendly. We have enjoyed every day. Restaurant was excellent. The front desk was more then accommodating and hospitable. We are coming back everyear, a new family tradition. Anna, at the front desk, thank you for all you did to change our reservations from the top floor to the bottom floor. You went beyound the call of duty. Thank you Cavalier for a wonderful trip.

We were taking part in a large family reunion and experienced extreme rudeness and lack of professional behavior on the part of the restaurant manager at the resort. In an industry where service is everything, the treatment by the restaurant manager superceded the rest of our experience. Based on such, we cannot recommend this location.

Rudeness on the part of the restaurant manager ruined our lunch and tainted our San Simeon/Cambria experience. Don't waste your $$$ here. Hotel is fine, but whoever hired the restaurant manager clearly wasn't thinking straight.

Room accomodations were nice, however courtesy and tactfulness on the part of the attached restaurant's management were lacking. We had organized a family reunion, getting my elderly grandmother and family from as far away as Malaysia and Toronto to come. As we were conversing over lunch, the manager came over to us in a rude and loud manner announced "This is why we don't do large parties". For a Best Western location that boasts its ability to accomodate family reunions on its website, we certainly would not recommend this restaurant.

Can't complain about the hotel itself, but the restaurant was terrible. The manager chided us for bringing in a large party because he thought it changed the atmosphere of the restaurant for other people. For a tourist location, and for any business for that matter, I thought having paying customers was a good thing... Anyway, I'd encourage everyone to go somewhere else, this restaurant is unwelcoming and not worth your time.

Amazing, Amazing, The most wonderful restaurant and heated pool, Jacuzzi, Gym- fireplace in the room, AMAZING!!!

What a wonderful beach. The motel lights fire pits at night so you can sit around them and enjoy the sight and sound of the surf. This Best Western is one of the best we have stayed in and we want to go back soon. If I'm ever missing, look for me there.

I used to work in the front office where I had the pleasuer of greating new guests and the frequent returnning guests - like family. I hope you will enjoy your visit.
