The Austin Convention Hotel and Spa, Hot Springs

We enjoyed the friendly staff at the desk very much. We were able to book one of the spa packages and the massage people were the best we have ever had. The desk staff gave us coupons when we checked in for the restaurant, bar and spa, which really was helpful. We used them all and ended up staying another night. The fried catfish was my favorite! For a hotel that is been there for 20 plus years you can tell they have worked hard to keep it up. Our room was really nice and had new carpet. the desk person said their next step is putting in new carpet for all the rooms. the only thing we didn't care for was the parking. You have to walk about a little less than a block to get to the parking deck which was ok, but there was a car that was broken into there. The police were there making a report and told the people that all over the town they are getting hit in spurts. I was glad to know it wasn't just in the area. I noticed afterward that the bellboys and I believe the security officer made several rounds just checking it. Which made me feel safer. As a visitor to the town I had to stop and think back home we are getting alot of that too. Unfortunately I think it's everywhere in these times. Our stay was excellent and we will be back! We were told it slows down quite a bit in the winter and we would like to come back for some quite and relaxation!

My husband and I went to Hot Springs to celebrate our 6th year wedding anniversary. I browsed different hotels in Hot Springs and The Austin offered the best spa package deal which was just what we were looking for. My husband and I loved the hotel, the staff, and tha spa. Our room was very clean and I had no problems with any of the ammenities. Our stay there exceeded my expectations. This summer we plan to take the kids for a summer vacation. I can't wait to go back!

The room was very reasonably priced. The rooms were clean and spacious. One of the few hotels I have ever stayed in that actually had hot water for the shower. The spa was nice but nothing to brag about. We were on the 11th floor and had to go to the 7th to find ice. The place is on the edge of the ghetto. Even the desk clerk said she would not walk to the historic district from there (only 2 blocks). Vagrants were living on the steps out back. The restaurant and lounge was closed. We were expecting it, but when got there it was closed. If I went back to Hot Springs, which I will not, I would stay there. Dont get me wrong its not the best place I have ever stayed but it is no dump. The town really brings down my overall rating of the place.

Aboout the only thing we liked about our stay here was the closeness to the convention center for our show the next day. All of the Staff we met were very friendly and brought us everything we needed, except for hot chocolate stirrers. We have paid less and had much better quality elsewhere. The beds were our main dislike. They were very worn out and some were sloped, going downward at the head of the bed. we think there should have been a small refridgerator in the room and more towels. We were told we would have two queen sized beds and we got two full sized beds. They did not have 3 sheets as the service book stated. The faucet in the shower was VERY hard to turn on.

My stay at the Austin was an absolutely lovely experience. The staff was awesome! Everyone was happy and seemed eager to please, some even going above and beyond they job duties to accomodate us. the room was large and very clean. location was absolutely perfect. a great experience.

I like the quiet less hectic atmosphere. I do not have to wait until a certain time to check in I just check in when I arrive. I appreciate the rates the hotel gives us when we come for our annual meetings. Everyone is so friendly. I will be back every year.

This is one of the most run down hotels I have ever stayed in. The paper was peeling off the walls, The plumbing was worn out, the beds were stained, everything you ask about has an additional price,even a movie station that most cheap motels furnish, I couldn't take enough showers after I got home. A total bad experience.

FINALLY! A decent hotel nearby opened and that is where will be staying this, and likely every subsequent, trip to Hot Springs! Ask for a king, non-smoking and get a double smoking room! Ask for a mini-fridge to be left in the room, and be told it will, and it doesn't happen! The wallpaper in the shower was peeling and the sheetrock was chipping. The carpets were stained and just gross. The elevator's smell worse than any elevator I've been in and finding someone who cares is akin to looking for a diamond at nearby Crater of Diamond's State Park. The Austin, and its previous incarnation as a Hilton, used to be the only game in town when wanting to stay near the Convention Center. NOT ANYMORE! The extra pay is worth it to stay in a nearby suite! I only hope the Miss Arkansas braintrust decides to forego the Austin and take their business where they would be more valued and the pageant-goers who drop serious coinage will feel welcome and wanted.
