Above and Beyond
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/07
This was a phenomenal location. This was a perfect resort for a couple on vacation, I have heard it is a great company retreat venue but it was even more impressive as a vacation location. The rooms are huge, clean and comfortable. The restaurants are stacked with great food, spirits and staff members. The ground are in great condition even during overseeding times of year. The front desk staff was helpful as well as the concierge. I would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone vacating in the Scottsdale area. The new spa was wonderful and my traveling partner enjoyed her time there. Plenty of golf VERY close to this location and very good golf too. I would recommend this location to friends and family if they are to head for the Phoenix area for a vacation.

"Resort" is an exaggeration
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/07
The rooms are nice and large. The pool is too small for the number of guests that the hotel can accommodate. The "spa" only has a steam room in the mens' locker room - too bad girls. The workout room is not cool enough. When it's 105 degrees outside, I'd expect them to keep the gym cooler. The waitstaff at the "5-star" restaurant is inadequate / unsophisticated for the level of food provided. For example, wine was served at the far end of the wrong temperature twice, and they kept taking the wine list, even though I insisted I was ordering by course. Limited alternative food options, especially without a car. The pool bar does not open til 11am or so, and sometimes not until I called the front desk and asked about it. It gets hot out there long before even water is available at the pool No food service at the pool, except for "room service", for which I was charged an additional something like $3 for delivery and manditory something around 20 percent tip. When I got a $21 bill for my $13 salad, needless to say I was surprised. Finally, the resort fee, which is now up to something like $16 per day. Charge for the gym and the internet by usage, like everyone else in this industry. I've ended up at this hotel several times from Priceline, which tells me (a) there is usually availability at a pretty cheap rate and (b) I have to quit using Priceline when I want to go to Scottsdale. No dig on Priceline, by the way. It is what it is and I know I always take that chance when I use them!

European Boutique Hotel Feel
By LouisaM, 03/20/07
I booked this hotel "blindly" on Priceline and I was extremely pleased with the resort! The resort is set back from the major roads in Scottsdale so it is very quiet and peaceful. Parking is very convenient and free, and the hotel is very nice. The exterior made me expect something else entirely, but once I opened the room door, I was so happily surprised at what was inside! My room was very large and comfortable, with two desks and chairs, ample workspace, and a European bathroom with a beautiful tiled shower and euro showerhead. The view from the room was gorgeous -- right on an interior courtyard with fountains, grass, trees and lots of birds. Nice swimming pools too! This is a beautiful hotel with a real boutique hotel feel. The rooms are extremely well appointed and are very large. I think this property must have been recently renovated because the furnishings and furniture appeared to be brand spanking new. One minor complaint I have is that the windows have wooden shutters on them instead of blackout curtains, so the room doesn't get very dark during the daylight hours. Another complaint is the "resort fee" that is added on your bill on top of your nightly rate. This extra $15 pays for all local phone calls, USA Today paper delivery, incoming faxes, parking, use of the fitness center and use of the tennis courts for 1 hour. I really hate these additional resort fee charges and I think they are completely bogus and unnecessary. Overall, this is a gorgeous hotel with a distinctive European boutique hotel feel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Conference stay great
By Teresa, 06/16/06
Just returned from a set of classes held at the Scottsdale Conference Resort and have nothing but great things to say about the meetings roooms. Not only were they large, but they were clean and the staff kept them stocked with water and soft drinks. Our stay included the breakfast buffet one morning and it was nice, but nothing spectacular. Of course I like my eggs a bit more done then they had theirs, and being a southern girl I'm never quite sure about all those potatoes for breakfast. Lunch & dinner was also included and was good, although I did feel like they could have done a better job with their sauces and with desert. The first evening desert was 2 pieces of cake with some strawberries, not exactly resort standard in my book. I took advantage of the spa before the classes started and found something close to heaven. I recommend Eva Marie and her facial to anyone who spent the previous day on a plane. I felt 10 times better when I left. The main pool is salt-water and lovely, plus that area is open 24 hrs. So a late night swim wasn't out of the question. The room we had was nice, but the view was the back of the restrooms at the pool, so it could have been better, not that we were actualy in our room all that much. The service of all the employees I came in contact with was excellent and I'm looking forward to returning next year.

This place has it all!
By Terri, 03/06/06
Pulling into this resort at night I could tell I would like it. The palm and fruit trees lining the driveway are frosted with lights and the fountain is spectacular. The bellhop and front desk staff were all very friendly. Our room though a little dark was quite comfortable and looked out on to the pool. The pool and hot tub were both big and there were plenty of seats around to sit in groups or in more private settings. The firepit right outside the Sangria bar was a great place to relax and mingle. The Sangria bar offers a nightly drink special as well as free hors'doeuvres from 5-7. You get charged a $12 resort fee each day but this includes local phone calls, internet, tennis court usage and other things that I can't recall at this time. There are plenty of golf courses around, we golfed at McCormick Ranch after 4:00 for $27, a steal! There are also walking trails and bikes you can rent for the same trails. If you don't want to take your car or don't have one, you can catch the Trolley into downtown Scottsdale for shopping and fine eats. My cleanliness rating is a little low because we found broken glass on our bathroom floor and even after taking the shards to the front desk and asking for it to be cleaned good we found a couple more pieces. I pricelined this hotel and while I had a better deal than all the others discussing price at the fire pit, it was well worth what they paid! I can't wait to go back!

One of the best places in Scottsdale
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/05
My husband and I travel to the Phoenix area quite often. We have stayed in many hotels and resorts and this one is one of our favorites. Service is impecible! The quite beautiful surroundings is amazing. You can lose yourself just taking a walk. Spanish style buildings takes you to another place.

Nice casita, big, clean, quiet and private. Getting ice delivered to the room was the only issue. Never made it after 2 calls.
