Hotel Set In Crossroads (Literally)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/08
I completely understand the income of travelers varies, thereby affecting the places they reside on vacation or business travel. I do not frequent the higher priced hotels often, so I felt a need to express my experience over the last week and a half there.
It looks great from the outside; the pool is especially inviting along with the free grilled burgers and hot dogs on Wednesdays (when I showed up). The 1 1/2 hour free drink happy hour is great too.
It turned sour when I got to the room though. The room's floor had not been thoroughly cleaned, and items/trash were ledt in draws and under furniture. There were countless crumbs and little hairs on the counter by the microwave. The same items were found IN the refrigerator, including hair.
Although the room seemed spacious and nicely appointed with furniture, when the sun went down, the appointments did not overcome the constant noise occuring through the night.
The walls are paper thin, so you can hear your neighbors rather easily. As the hotel is cheaper, it tends to be a go to for the younger crowds. From midnight until about 5AM on a weekday night, some young men and their lady friends were extremely loud. Obviously drunk, wound randomly yell or scream through the night.
THe hotel is convienteintly located between the three crossroads of Yuma. Unfortunately, cars travel those roads - 24/7. Loud cars and emergency vehicles (at least every 45min) would constanly be roaring up the streets. The problem there was mostly aleviated when I asked to move to a room on the inner (pool) side of the hotel.
All in all, I would never stay there again on my own dime, and only otherwise as a last resort. If you do have to stay there I strongly recommend requesting pool side rooms away from the possibly younger boisterous crowd.
