A stay could potentially put your life at risk
Six or seven years ago, we stayed at the Windemere and upon check-in, turned our heater on in the room. Soon thereafter we found flames creeping up the curtains and the room was filling with smoke. The staff was very courteous and immediately took steps to get us another room.
Now what follows, you might find unbelievable but is 100% true. We once again checked into the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center on 05/12/2010. At 10:00 that evening we turned the heater on only to discover sparks and the room filling with smoke. We immediatly called the front desk and explain the problem to the clerk who told us as a matter of fact to unplug it at the base of the unit (like this was a regular occurence) and she would be down as soon as she had some time. 15 minutes went by without a response. I proceeded to the front desk to inquire if I would get a more prompt response if I called the Sierra Vista Fire Department? I demanded a new room which she responded that they were sold out and didn't have one available. When I asked to speak to the manager, she said well I do have one on the third floor. Then said well I can put you in one on the first floor close to the unit you were in.
Personally, we would NEVER stay at the Windemere Hotel And Conference Center again and highly recommend that you look elsewhere should your life be of any value to you.
