Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, Birmingham

This hotel was clean, with recently & beautifully redone rooms. We enjoyed drinks and dinner in the bar and a wonderful breakfast in the restaurant.Best of all was the service!!! Front desk, bar, restaurant... they aim to please. Their staff was helpful and always with a smile. They seem to enjoy their work. Our satisfaction was their priority... and yes we would stay there again!

In contrast to some of the other reviews, the construction was a huge issue and the staff seemed well-meaning, but incompetent. At check-in, they told us that there was construction and that while the rooms were finished, essentially everything between the desk and the guest room was 'in the works.' That it was! The elevators looked like they were from tenament buildings that hadn't seen maintenance or cleaning for a decade. The corridor to the guest room was so completely under construction, I'm surprised they didn't issue hard-hats and safety goggles to get to your room, what with conduits and wires poking out from the ceiling. When I entered my room, the door only opened about 2-inches before the 'intruder latch' caught. They had checked me into a room that already had a guest in it! I think the guy in the undershirt who thought I was trying to break into his room was the only person more shocked than I was. The front desk staff treated the issue as if I was complaining about being shorted a bottle of shampoo in my guest room... they seemed completely unphased by this MAJOR security lapse. The one good thing I can say is that the guest bed was comfortable, but when I was showering the morning I was leaving, one of the ceiling tiles wasn't all the way down and I could see above the ceiling and it was gross! It looked as if they wallpapered over a couple of decades of filth. I would absolutely recommend that you avoid this hotel, minimally for the rest of construction.

The holiday Inn was located perfectly near the airport which made is so convenient. They have a free shuttle service to and from the airport. The entire staff was extremely friendly. The air conditioning was perfect!!!It was very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend, I would stay again.

I liked this hotel because it's affordable and well worth the price. The best part was the staff, they were so helpful and just happy to help. The neighborhood is not the best but we didn't have any problems. The soda machine on our floor didn't work but they were $1.75 anyway so bring your own! Would definitely stay again!

I have used this hotel several times when I have an early morning flight out of Birmingham in my travels with Romance Writers of America. Being the Treasurer of a 1.7 million dollar organization with 10,000 members, I look for reasonable prices and convenience. This hotel has both and I thought the food in the restaurant was very good and moderately priced.
