Days Inn Attalla, Attalla

This was by Far my WORST experience while traveling. We arrived late and had to waken the clerk on duty who smelled strongly of alcohol. The room we were given had carpets that were badly stained by what appeared to be pet feces and had a very unpleasant odor. I called the desk to see if there might be another room available and received no answer. I walked to the office and saw the clerk smoking out in the breezeway. He said there was no other room available, but I had already recieved a discounted rate and shouldnt be complaining. He said the store next door sells air freshener. I asked to speak to the manager the next morning. He came to the room behind the desk and called the clerk in and loudly told him that he was in a meeting and for the clerk to "deal with it". It is a shame that such a respected name has Holiday Inn would tolerate a motel with such disgusting standards. I have told my friends, family and business associates.
