Not worth the price !!!!
By countrygirl, 6/5/10
The Best Western name usually speaks for itself, however; this hotel failed. The service at the front desk was very slow. The room was substandard and needs to updated badly. There was no soap available on the counter, they only had one face cloth and two hand towels, no bath towel anywhere. Only had 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper in the room. We ran out and looked for the spare roll and there was none. The smoke detector battery was chirping away until we finally disconnected it. Yes, the hotel is in a good location if you are visiting the Battleship park, but it is not worth the price you pay. I definitely will not stay there again. If you do decide to stay here, make sure you bring soap, toilet paper and your own towels if you plan to shower.

Will always stay there when traveling to Mobile.
By DAVID O, 3/10/10
On Mobile Bay with the battleship U S S Alabama and museum in full view. Spactacular. Clean rooms. The resturant is outstanding. Try the stuffed flounder! Steaks are great. West Indies salad is to die for. An enormous collection of WWII pictures of the Army Airforce and beyond. Good service is always at the for front of both the resturant and the hotel.

Left after one night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/09
I am a firm believer in Best Western Hotels and the quality that I have come to expect. This hotel fails miserably. I notice that the other reviews are much more than a year old so I think that the status of this hotel does not recieve much attention. As soon as I entered the room I was struck by the filthy carpet. Not only was there a general "dinginess" but some very pronounced stains and odor. The hotel claims to have been renovated in 2007 but obviously the no smoking policy has never been enforced as there were numerous burns in the carpet. One of the reasons that I chose this property was that I could walk to a place to eat and even order room service. Well, I will not give a review of the restaraunt but suffice it to say that I was not impressed. The food was ridiculously over priced and just not very good. 34.00 for a steak with fries and some crab meat thrown on top. The kicker was the internet connection...I was traveling on business and connecting was crucial. When I could not connect I went to the office, to be joined by few other guests with the same problem. The clerk's answer was "I don't know nothing 'bout computers". If your are a BW loyalist, stay at the BW in Saraland at exit 13 on I 65. I am there now and it is wonderful!

Great Hotel & Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
Great hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. We spent the night here on route to a cruise and were able to park our car (Free!) here for the duration of the cruise while the very friendly driver at the hotel shuttled us to and then from the cruise dock. The hotel room was clean and nice and we would definately stay there again and recommend it highly to others. The pool was sparkling and clean and hotel grounds spotless. The only down side was the restaurant on the hotel grounds. In spite of going there because of other recommendations on this site we found the prices completely outrageous and the waiter unfriendly and the restaurant itself under rennovation and in poor shape. Would not recommend this to families traveling with children and suggest you look at the menu (prices!) first as it was way beyond our budget with two teens along and one of the highest priced restaurants we encountered. Not a restaurant for families with little ones either. Way too costly -so not a good recommendation at all.

THIS HOTEL HAS BEEN TOTALLY REMODELED AND IS VERY CLEAN. IT HAS A LARGE POOL AND THE GROUNDS ARE KEPT CLEAN. I GO TO MOBILE EVERY MONTH AND THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST IN THE DOWNTOWN ARE. YOU ARE ALSO CLOSE TO DAPHNE AND FAIRHOPE. FAMILY ENJOYED STAY.

Great for the kids
By Lynneseed, 6/3/07
We stopped here purely by accident. We were just tired of driving and the kids were restless. It was a great stop for us. The kids enjoyed the battleship, the pool, the big tv, it was a great rest stop. Nice, friendly staff and super room...worth the price. We would reccommend to families on the road.

Battleship view
By lias, 4/4/07
I like it. I have stayed there for nearly 25 years, about once or twice a year. Mr. John sets a fine table at the restaurant. The unique thing is the fact that I don't know of anywhere else that you can open the curtain and see a full-sized battleship. and a B-52, plus many other ships and planes. Many of them were damaged by Katrina. The only SR-71 Blackbird that i have ever been able to touch... Like the one Tommy Lee Jones flew in "Space Cowboys". I'll be back.. this year.

12 years straight
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/06
This is an easy place to find and a great rest stop on the way to Florida. The ladies fillet steak is the best you will ever have! Period! Everyone we have sent there, and there have been several, have all agreed on the steak. We have stopped there every year for the last 12 and will be back this July. Can't wait to see the lab in the lobby. Glad they allow pets.

I like a place that has a dog in the office
We stayed there in June of 2003, I believe. There are 4 major things that stood out for me during our stay there. A dog, a bug, the pool, and a restaurant. The dog. The manager or someone had a huge dog that took residence inside the check in office. He was a huge, docile dog. We didn't think he was real at first. He didn't move around much. He didn't bother anyone, and everyone seemed to wonder about him when they came in to check in. The bug. I saw the biggest mosquito I have ever seen in our room. I don't know if it's common there for the mosquitoes to be that huge, but it was big. My son was very entralled with it. The mosquito didn't bother us (especially after I introduced it to one of my sandals). The pool. Another big thing. The length of the pool was pretty standard. The depth of the pool was a little different for us. We are used to pools with depths of 6 ft, but their pool was something like 7 ft deep. One last item is the seafood restaurant next door to this hotel. My kids were thrilled to see the "Finding Nemo" characters in the aquarium in the restaurant. All in all, not bad things, just interesting things that really stood out for me and my family for that trip. We chose this hotel for the close proximity to the USS Alabama.
