Just got in from casa mexicana

What a pleasant stay we had at this place. It's nicely decorated with art and crafts. Great breakfast buffet, fresh food with no ill side effects. Well maintained despite 2 recent hurricanes. Friendly staff. Very clean. We stayed in room 518 with a side balcony that faced Sr. Frogs, but we sleep with ear plugs anyway so no worries! (I carry some at all times to reduce frustration while traveling) Beds were comfortable. Not the usual brick-hard Mexican beds. I would go back again. A down side is no sandy beach in front of the hotel, but rather a sea wall. The weather was warm but very windy with some rain which cut down on diving. We explored the island via rental jeep which was great. I found a super little shop two doors down from the church off the main plaza called the Mayan Pearl. Nelly, the owner, makes her own jewelry and sells it at really great prices! She speaks fluent English and Spanish and is a delight. I bought a custom made jade neclace for $30.00 (US dollars). It's beautiful.
All in all, a wonderful time. If you want to stay where the action is and get a taste of the culture, this is a nice place that was recommended to us by a friend.
