We Can't Wait to Come Back
By ,
What a fantastic hotel. The front desk service was super and the hotel was quick to service you any way that you needed. The restaurant had excellent food and the room service was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to any one and we will be back next year when we return for 1 week in Amsterdam. It is conveniently located to all sites and shopping.. A quick walk to Dam Square.

STAY AWAY..NASTY HOTEL AND STAFF!!!
By ,
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I stay over 200 nights a year in hotel and this place topped them all as horrendous. The front desk staff/management was extremely rude to foreigners. The hotel is undergoing construction, which they do not inform you of until check-in. Very loud and intrusive. We were charged 150Euro fee to for smoking fee, although my wife nor I smoke. There are many better choices and I would suggest staying at any of them!...Good luck if you decide to try this outdated and subpar accomadations even for an economy hotel, not even close to the standards of Crown Plazas.BEWARE and STAY AWAY!

Great Central Location
By ,
The location is great. Its just a couple of minutes walk from the central station, shopping area is just outside the hotel, and lots of places to eat and drink. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Don't expect a great view, there's buildings all around. Service was good, and the staff were friendly. Its a great place specially if you are staying for a short time.

Great with kids
By ,
I loved our stay at this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly, the location was brilliant and best of all, our room had a kids room within it. There were bunk beds, a TV/video player and a playstation. It was perfect for our needs.

Dirty Room Poor Service Good Location
By ,
Likes: Location and Business Center on the top of the building. They had a true King Size Bedroom in the room. Dislike: Poor Service, expensive parking, dirty room.

old and updated rooms!
By ,
we are three friends and we have been in the hotel last august 2006. We chose the club formula for a triple room: free drinks in room and a roof club with free drinks and snacks. From the description this was a fantastic option! Spacious room, free drinks, continental breakfast, also "luxurious bathrobe, bathfoam etc. (not enough for three) and slippers"!! Unfortunately, the cost of the room, initially apparently very convenient, was really expensive, we discovered! Indeed, the room was old, the bathroom, old and with the towels full of holes, had a bath yellowish and stained, the continental breakfast was quite poor, with a coffee machine that made terrible ...coffee(???)just coloured water!, and the snacks, when you could find them, some cheese and salami, but after seven p.m...everything was finished and we saw many people coming up and go away because there was nothing else! and if you ask for the cleaning of the table, the disappoint of the waitress was clear. We were three and had a triple room, but the first day we found two bathropes, two towels, two slippers, two cups for the coffee; the second day, idem, and the third day, nothing at all: only towels, with holes and very old. It could have been accettable for a three star hotel, but not when the cost of the room is so expensive (more than 300 euros per night)! Two times in three day we had to ak for toilet paper and kleenex. On the contrary, the reception staff was very kind, helpful and they sell, at the same price, the tickets for the museums and excursions and give a lot of information when you ask for the way to go somewhere. The location is perfect if you have never been in Amsterdam, because it is a walking distance from the central station, dam square and the departure station of the canal boats, but, if you know amsterdam, there are many other places where to go.Finally, the room was a smoking one, even if had ask for a non smoking one, the windows could be opened only partly, the corridor was full of smoke and the air, also in the room, was unbreathable, maybe due to the humidity..we could have found better!

Nice hotel, but some mechanical difficulties
By ,
My stay was very enjoyable. The location is fabulous! The service superb! The room was small, but clean. The blow dryer was there, but placed in the desk drawer, difficult to use. The air conditioning worked well. There were two elevators, but neither worked at the same time, and one day, they were both out! not acceptable. You need your room card to call the elevator at the lobby. I had no ice machine on my floor! Finding one was a 10 minute walk around a maze of stairways. The bed was totally lumpy and soft. The hotel bar was pleasant, open late, with a nice bar tender. The restaurant was very nice, the waitress repeatedly explained the traditional, rich, fattening food to our table more than once. They split orders for all four of us with no hesitation. We felt it necessary to not order the "whole" thing since the portions were huge, with lots of potatos, and butter, and cream. The lobby was non-descript. I could have been in Arizona. The outstanding feature was the concierge desk. They were helpfull, and informative. Readily booking dinners, or tours. I really enjoyed interacting with the staff at that desk! The location is literally one block from Centraal Station, but you would never know it when appraching from Dam Rack. Take any transportation to Centraal Station and you are at the hotel. Go out the bar door, and you are on the pedestrian walkway heading to Dam Square. We met a number of Americans there, as well as travelers from other parts of the world. In general, a great stay, and as part of my travel package, a good price.

Never come back!
By ,
The attitude of the front desk staff and bellman was very hostile and not very helpful, not only to us but we also witnessed how they treated other guests - poorly. The terrible service, demonstrated with the rolling of eyes and huffs when you ask for assistance and a little shouting for good measure, is enough to outway any positives like location. Who goes on vacation to be treated like this? I would rather sleep in the streets, but thankfully with the wonderfull choice of hotels in beautiful Amsterdam, we don't have to subject ourselves to that - just book elsewhere! 2006 May Guest

Very nice experience
By ,
My daughter and I stayed here for three days in April. First, the room was clean and bright (OK, the furnishings were a little dated, but not shabby). The room size was more than adequate for two people, maybe small by American standards, but large by European standards (at least in this class). The bathroom was also clean and bright, with adequate water pressure in the shower. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Because the breakfast buffet was free for kids under 12, my daughter (who is 11) and I chose the buffet which is a good deal at 11 euro's (22 euro / 2) but not such a great deal at 22 euro per person. If I had to pay full fare, I would probably try one of the local cafes. We did not eat lunch or dinner at the hotel restaurant. Location: is great, an easy walk (even with luggage) from the central train station, and an easy walk to many of the local sights. The immediate area around the hotel is a bit "boisterous" (this is, after all, Amsterdam), but I never felt unsafe, even at night. Value: very good value, not cheap, but not unreasonable for what you get.

good hotel, good location
By ,
I was there for 5 nights in November. Nice room, clean, centrally located, good value, most staff was professional, got a little attitude from a couple of people at the front desk, had a computer problem and while the young tech acted like he was Bill Gates he couldn't solve the problem. All in all, a pleasant experience. I'd stay there again.
